  1. Any of y'all ever hear the V10 demo car they ran at COTA a couple of years ago? When that thing fired up in the garage, people literally came running to see what it was - OR came running because they knew what it was and didn't wanna miss it. No such reaction to any of the other cars. It's like when they ran Fernando's old Renault. It was all the announcers and fans could talk about all weekend. F1 is really missing a big opportunity. They can still be 'green' and sustainable (at least as sustainable as they are now), be a research testbed, and have cars that get people's hearts racing just by hearing them from a mile away.
  2. So my kid and I were talking about this yesterday. I could be wrong but if you went to, for example, NA V10s running on the latest cutting edge alternative fuels with no ERS, would we not see the following benefits? - significant weight savings, enabling F1 to have ... - smaller cars because of the reduced need for crazy amounts of DF to offset the weight - more nimble cars in and out of slower corners, without the ridiculous, uncatchable snaps of oversteer - great-sounding cars again - a 'green' sustainability effort in the form of alternative fuel and thermal efficiency research, which could be easily marketed and potentially beneficial to the world Seems to me like such a move could fix a lot of what's wrong with F1 these days. Even if you stayed with turbo V6s rather than V10s, the sound would still be better than it is now and the other benefits would remain as well, esp if you lose fuel flow limits. You lose 55kg right off the bat by cutting the ERS. And then there's the ERS cooling. Dunno how much that weighs. Cutting the turbo is probably pretty significant as well, but I dunno how much the turbo and all of its related accessories and piping weigh. You could also get rid of about another 50kg if you bring back refueling and drop the fuel limits. Just sayin'.
  3. My kid starts working out with AJ soon, so I was showing him a lot of old video like this. He loves the old stuff just like we do. It was just better. ETA: Oh yeah, I was at that match. Only time I ever went to that tournament. We did Hermosa a bunch of times though. Fun weekend. Took my family to the Kettle back in June this year. Such a great breakfast.
  4. So, did they get their asses kicked?
  5. Seriously. Hellraiser dbag = dipshit troll.
  6. Your ability to completely miss the point while simultaneously making the point for us is astonishingly impressive. We're jammed in there already, even at 1 butt per seat. The last thing we need is a bunch of sweaty, ugly dudes and fat chicks wedging their way into an already crowded space.
  7. Brent Venables puts his big kart in the small cart lane at the HEB cart corral.
  8. I'm fine with that, but how 'bout let's go where the real weight additions have been made - in the batteries.
  9. I mean, I dgaf if you drink, or if you drink like a girl, or whatever. But nah man, for what tickets go for now, I ain't gettin' squeezed into half of the normal Cotton Bowl space (that's pretty small to begin with) because you can't figure out how to buy tickets. I've been to about 30 of the last 40 TX-ou games and have managed to never buy seats on the wrong end. Weird.
  10. Got dammit. I can't read, I guess. I missed that yours are for W2. My apologies.
  11. Lemme talk to my brats. There's a chance both will need Weekend 1 tickets. But if someone else wants 'em before that, sell, sell, sell!
  12. My kid is looking for 1. $500 for the pair or $500 each?
  13. Crazy weekend incoming. Not necessarily in this order: - Texas - ou - MLB Playoffs - F1 - Bathurst 1000
  14. Sign up for superview for $10 then cancel https://www.supercars.com/superview . A good deal for 6 hours and no ads.
  15. Yeah that's awesome. Aston Martin, yo. Also, Bathurst 1000 is this weekend. Sunday 11:15 am start in Bathurst = 7:15 pm Saturday here, afaik. MavTV has been carrying some Supercars stuff lately, but the only upcoming V8SC content I see listed there is Saturday at 4PM CDT, so I have no idea what that is.
  16. I bet he just sits there when the light turns green, too, looking at his cellphone, then flips you off when you beep your horn to wake him the fuck up ...
  17. What's funny is that I'd love to do the opposite of this even if it just meant that I could get Texas-ou tickets at face value and just make the rest of the money back by selling off my home tickets, even without a profit ... if I was confident that it would work. I think it might work in winning years like this one, but even then I have my doubts. For me, Texas-ou is the only game that when I miss it & have to watch it on TV, it hurts.
  18. I'd probably pay that if I coulld find it. Cheapest I'm seeing right now is $400 for shitty, shitty singles. I just can't justify that nonsense, even for the best regular season game in all of sports.
  19. Yeah Hurts is aiight. The rest of 'em, esp BM, can EABOD.
  20. Hey, anyone ... just out of curiosity, how much is face value this year? Last year was $175, right?
  21. BTW, what is face value this year, just out of curiosity?
  22. Yep. People paying insane, unjustifiable prices for the tickets is a huge part of the problem. Then you have 'brokers' (institutionalized, legitimized scalpers) cornering the market by buying up all the tickets online, creating a false sellout and then resetting the price level on their own. Internet-based ticket sales have given them the means to control both the buying and the re-selling. I've already been priced out of most of the stuff I love - F1, at least in the US, Texas-ou, MLB for the most part, etc. I could pay the prices, but it's not something I can justify in any reasonable way. I just can't justify spending a grand for 2 of us to sit in shitty seats for Texas-ou, or spending $1500 for 2 of us to go sit in GA at COTA for F1 weekend. And of course the prices go way up from there. It's fucking crazy, and sad. I was lucky last year with TX-ou. Afriend in the AD gave me very nice tix out of the blue. I guess that's pretty much my only way in from now on.
