  1. Definitely drivers who can't carry on convos without looking in the back and/or gesturing wildly are more dangerous. One big factor with in-car convo vs. phone convo, in addition to the brain science (I don't the science on what part of your brain performs different tasks is going to change) is that in-car passengers usually can see when they may need to STFU for a minute in heavy traffic/dangerous spots, whereas the phone person doesn't know the driver really needs full attention now.
  2. The science actually doesn't concur with this. For whatever reason, speaking with a person who is present with you uses a different part of your brain than speaking with someone on the phone. And the part that is used speaking on the phone is also used for driving. Hands-free is safer than non-hands-free, since theoretically you don't have to look away from the road, and you have both hands, but it is still considerably less safe than not using the phone in a way that in-person convos/listening to the radio are not. One thing that typing this has made me curious about - when I attended the conferences where I learned the above, I didn't listen to podcasts. I do now. I wonder if listening to podcasts acts more like in-person convo or on the phone convo.
  3. Perfect! I also buy more than I think I will need, since I know I will be back next year, and they take the previous year's coopins the next year. I'd much rather have some left than end up waiting in a 5PM coopin line. This is the first year in a long time I'm not bringing any at all back.
  4. The Dock at the Embarcadero has good food and lots of TVs. We often grab seats there after the game to rest and rejuvenate and catch some of the other games.
  5. Glad to hear the cream corn casserole were good, they are high on my list! The Cajun crab bombs I was likely skipping. Would try one for free but combo of the high cost, Fair seafood, and my wife doesn’t do seafood so I’m committing more stomach room, nah.
  6. I stand by it and went to Texas Law so blow it out of your ass. The guy was an extremely minor witness. Read the post a few above about how if they were gonna do this it wouldn’t be this guy or this case and let it sink into your brain.
  7. Potato salad is at Pearlies on the Midway. Burnt end burrito at the Dock in the Embarcadero, boudin rolls at Taste of NOLA in food court. Arroz con Leche in the food court. I had it last year, liked it didn’t love it. Thought description sounded fantastic.
  8. Fried Taco Cone is 18 coops. Good list, I will also be consuming all of these items, except I can never do the Jalapeno Fletcher's, because the original is too great.
  9. JFC, this guy wasn't under some giant police/media watch. Without looking, name 3 other witnesses from the trial who aren't Guyger or SexCop. He got killed, and then people tried to sensationalize his murder by linking it up. If he had gotten killed the week before the trial, it wouldn't have made a blurb on the news, despite OMG KEY WITNESS IN GUYGER CASE, because he mattered about 0.1% to the state's case.
  10. LR said yesterday they were "highly questionable" though lots of OU reporters saying Ealy likely, Swenson not. LR likes his subterfuge to a fault, so we should find out sometime shortly after 11AM Saturday.
  11. Yeah, our group parks outside of 10 a lot. Very easy in, coopin booth right there, corny dogs right there. Getting out is less good, traffic-wise, but very easy walk from the stadium to car if you are leaving right after. I have had good luck getting in and out in the long narrow lot just off Haskell when you come from Parry (3C). Coming in from 75, it's very easy to get to especially that early. Obv wax cup consumption will weigh in. I personally would only DART or Uber if I was leaving late to let the lines die down. GL and enjoy the day with your pops.
  12. I disagree with your premise about OU's backs, but that was a fair and well-thought-out response. Posrep.
  13. Not arguing that it means OU is a lock, WP posted that OU's RBs were "frankly not good" and also that the OL had taken a big step back. Pretty hard for both of those to be true, and OU still be dominant in the run game in all metrics. For the record, assertion #2 is accurate and #1 is completely absurd in every way. Also, OU's adjusted numbers looked exactly the same in 2018 on one side of the ball and dramatically different in 2018 on the other side of the ball. I would expect 45 points will be enough to win this year.
  14. So what is the proper measure of a run game if not adjusted yards per carry, in your opinion? They are also top 10 in adjusted rush yards/game and #1 in adjusted yards and adjusted points per possession.
  15. I like that one too! What does it say our shitty run game with our shitty RBs is in adjusted (so taking into account the worst 5 game schedule any team has ever had) yards per carry?
  16. That's only for the lames walking in late! Go in the fair at 8, no coopin lines, and no $5 "order fee." Ten bonus coops right there! That's 1.67 beers!
  17. The fairgrounds gates will open at same time as parking gates, 7am. The "Fair opens at 8" is the presumptive time for food and other booths to open, though some will open earlier.
  18. Right, sure, though maybe the Pokes have differing thoughts on the relative worth of Texas Tech. The point was the difference vs. Tech & KU as compared to vs. UCLA & UH, and those two groups of teams are roughly equivalent to each other.
  19. Yep, big step down for the OL this year. Hurts has been much different in the pocket the last 2 weeks, much more willing and able to progress through the reads. Obviously, things may be different in the Cotton Bowl in that environment, etc., but he looked MUCH more comfortable vs. Tech and KU than vs. UCLA and UH.
  20. Yep, could def call out OU OL and safeties, but the RBs are pretty excellent. Clemson is averaging 1.8ypc less than OU, Bama is averaging 2.6ypc less than OU, neither of them have played any worldbeaters either. OU was #1 in the country in YPC last year also, so it isn't just some random fluke because of 5 weak opponents this year. OU could go 31 carries for 0 yards Saturday and still be tied with UGA for ypc.
  21. LOL JFC. Stevenson: 29 car, 315y, 5 TD Sermon: 45 car, 345y, 4 TD Brooks: 25 car, 206y, TD Total is 99 car for 866, looks like 8.6y a carry. OU is averaging 7.9 yards per carry, #1 in the nation. #2 is Georgia at 6.8. (Texas is #42 at 4.6 ypc).
