  1. But we do "take it anymore," is the problem. And it doesn't help when most color guys on TV (most of them) find some stupid way to defend it as if it'll help them keep their job.
  2. I hope it's that easy, or close to it. Unfortunately, I fear it will only get better, in college football, once the conferences clean out their conference officiating up top, while also leaving the NCAA.
  3. I'm not saying it's the right call or a good call or anything, I'm just saying the launch is going to add to it. And remember, there doesn't have to be helmet to helmet. Forcible contact with a shoulder can be targeting.
  4. That one's gunna get called more than Overshown's simply because the defender left his feet/launched.
  5. Well he didn't lead with his "crown," no, but the people I'm talking about are mentioning the leading with "helmet," which is targetting if using it to attack while making forcible contact to the "head or neck area" of the player. Also leading with the shoulder, elbow or whatever to attack and making forcible contact to the head or neck area is a targeting penalty. But so much of it is bullshit. Most of the time the speed of the game, what exactly players are physically capable of, and what the object of the fucking game is is tossed out of the window. 1st, in this case, Overshown comes out of a cannon, and honestly is probably shocked that QB is even right there. The QB isn't very far back, and is up in the pocket, so he really didn't have a chance to get lower and wrap him up around the waste. So what is he supposed to do? Side step and tackle him from behind? No, that's not football. The solution would be to get lower. BUT Overshown had no time to get much lower, and had he lowered then he probably DOES hit the QB with the crown of his helmet. It shouldn't be reality, is the point we're all making.
  6. I am sick and tired of these dumbass internet/twitter refs rushing to tell me how it was the right call. "First off he leads with his helmet." WHAT OTHER BODY PART DO YOU EXPECT TO BE LEADING? Your head will always be out front unless you're standing straight up, and no one stands straight up to make a tackle, or with their head angled back so that it is not out front. These kids can't change the order their body parts are stacked in. These dweebs need to get away from our game, they're fucking it up.
  7. It's Wednesday. They don't know.
  8. I stormed your mom at Town Lake. #FIRSTIN #punintended
  9. They've called them that since Herman, at least (when I first really started paying attention to their social media).
  10. Eh, it's wednesday. Let me know how he's feeling tomorrow. Friday.
  11. "But when will he be back?" "Doc has given him 2 weeks." "oh, good." "...to live."
  12. So I'm not a big Galindo fan, but I thought saying "Bijan Johnson" was an intentional attempt at creating something off of the combo of Johnson and Bijan (Johnson handing the ball off to Bijan off the direct snap). I mean I don't like it or anything, but I feel that is something Galindo would attempt in that situation.
  13. Since the whole "day to day" thing last Monday I've felt we were probably talking a two game injury for him vs. anything close to 6, but seeing him out there Saturday made me feel a bit better about his chances this week. Not that he was suited up, that could always be gamesmanship, but the running and warm-ups weren't some half-assed bullshit with that injury. But still, he can go out there this past Saturday, whip it around a little, run around, and come in the training room Sunday feeling like he was hit by a train, and then we have a setback. So no, it's not entirely obvious he'd be playing this week based on what we saw this past Saturday alone, but we haven't heard of any setbacks so I've been feeling better about this week. And now CTJ putting things the way he did has me feeling even better.
  14. Not sure I 100% blame them watching Card out there. I think Ewers lifts that line quite a bit.
  15. A trap game is a game most people believe you should win, and mostly easily. That wasn't Bama, and it's not going to be OU, Okie Steak or Baylor.
  16. EDIT: I think I missed the attempt here
  17. Figured they would. Both suited up Saturday. Ewers being described by Sark day to day. The way he was running Saturday before the game.
  18. nm I'll let this be the tech thread
  19. And what if targeting isn't called, going from 3rd and 8 to 1st and 10 with a fresh set of downs for UTSA? That maybe gives Texas an extra drive. Maybe Texas scores, and we're NOT 21 points better because we're actually 24 or 28 points better!?
  20. Personally I believed that Bama was the trap game, in anticipation for what UTSA was a'gunna be bringing. Maybe I was right. Maybe I was Memphis.
  21. In the overall scheme of things, that really shouldn't matter. Gimpy Card's not our starting QB. Non-Gimpy Card is not our starting QB. We move on to Tech
  22. I mean imagine the score if Bijan doesn't flip from Ohio State!!!!!!
