  1. I was a Penn State doubter in the offseason, but I did not imagine they would collapse like they did. Wouldn't mind if Allen or Singleton were on our team. There's a narrative that Penn State was still good when they played Oregon, it's just that this loss killed their hopes. This is what is doing the heavy lifting for Oregon's rating right now. That and only a single "quality loss" to Indiana. A loss to Iowa will give me some off week joy. Regardless of their record when we play them, I still like our chances against the Aggies. I mean assuming we have all our starting DBs since apparently we have no quality depth there whatsoever.

Defense also moved to 3rd. Special teams has been trending up, so we have that going for us at least. Weekly prediction has us over Vanderbilt 26-24. Who knows what we actually get out of the offense or defense this week.
  3. Elko for the schadenfreude.
  4. If you are the CEO, how do you grade the performance of the various position coaches on offense? Going back in time, would you have made any changes to staff after 2023 or 2024?
  5. I'm so ready to win with defense and special teams I joined the Cult of Horus. You may remember Horus was the Egyptian god of kingship, healing, protection, and winning ugly games with low scoring offense. The last bit isn't recognized as such by Egyptologists, but take a look at this: Also, Horus's origin story is quite interesting:
  6. Well I misremembered end of season SP+ ratings, so this claim doesn't hold up. SP+ was offense 6, defense 13. FEI was flipped 19 and 6 respectively.
  7. I think trotting out a 189lb true freshman QB behind this O line would be a bad idea.
  8. I agree the pass defense was the weakness of that phase. But they had a much more difficult test than the offense when it mattered. Washington was elite on offense and mid on defense. Texas offense also liked to disappear for stretches of the game and put the defense in a bind. First three Texas possessions of the second half: Fumble Punt Fumble To their credit they at least had converted a Washington fumble into points with a short field, otherwise they would have been at more or less Washington's average points allowed (24.8). Or you can just look at OFEI and DFEI or whatever you like. Offense has been consistently lower rated than the defense.
  9. Defense needs to get a little better falling on fumbles. Needs to tighten up at end of half. But talking about these things seems kind of nitpicky compared to the problems on offense. Defense is still a championship quality unit, and season would have much different outlook with even average offense.
  10. Since we are talking computers now, here's the top 15 of SP+ Texas at 11 with near identical rating to Georgia is pretty funny. But offense at 58 is damn pathetic, although oddly not too surprising given the play at interior OL and QB. We got to the semifinals two years in a row on the strength of the defense, and defense remains great. It is Sark's side of the ball that has been limiting the ceiling of the team three years running.
  11. Game is on SEC Network. Fully expect to hear a variation of "wouldn't it be great if State could get an SEC win against Texas" about 10000000000 times.
  12. Fact: Wingo overtook Livingstone as the leading receiver Saturday.
  13. I wonder if the Kentucky game was before Red River if they would have been smart enough to go all in on blitzes. Probably.
  14. Old ugly is better than old nothin'. Niblett and Shipley, thank you. Mark Stoops, thank you for going for it on the goal line. I honestly don't know how you don't just run up the middle three times in OT when you only need a FG to win.
  15. This all started when they promoted Gia to assistant OL coach.
  16. SP+ Top 25 Alabama with same rating as Georgia essentially. Texas moved up 10 spots since last week, defense #1. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46128861/2025-college-football-sp+-rankings-all-136-fbs-teams Also this week's predictions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1a6hboWNnPeUzx5oUEjwJwf9vw4DuAV7lTaW4Q92Zpls/edit?gid=2108112270#gid=2108112270 Texas 30 Kentucky 15
  17. I appreciate that Sark has had the team ready to play against OU all five seasons here.
  18. I continue to support Franklin as Penn State's head coach and hope they give him at least another few years to turn it around.
  19. Wisner MVP
  20. I see us winning by one score in a hard fought game. We also beat A&M at the end of the year to ruin their year.
  21. Per game it is: Ohio St - 108.6 SJSU - 183.3 UTEP - 87.5 SHSU - 256.5 FLA - 140.3
  22. Made me try to look this up since it seemed hard to believe. Especially since Day is number 1 in win percentage (born on third base and all that). Day's 15-8 v top ten. So I guess he gets 6 from Penn State onward last year. Then Texas this season. So at that point would have been 8-8 I think. Franklin's like 4-21 currently.
  23. Sark's got a two week head start on OU, which is more than he needs. He's got friends in every town and village from here to Asswater, knows a dozen route combinations, knows every type of outside zone. He'll nut up, coach for his life, and get the offense rolling. With any luck, he's got the Golden Hat already.
  24. OU is going to dare us to punish them for junk / unsound defense where they just bumrush guys through the left A and B gaps.
