It don't matter. The media will look at like 10 sec teams having top 25 recruiting classes and figure the sec is still the strongest conference just like always. Just like a few years ago when every one of their top teams lost(like every team that was ranked going into bowls) and the next year they still had 5 teams in the top 10. The only question is whether Bama will get the benefit of the doubt if they fail to win the sec.
I said it ended the run that went from about 86-92. 2000-2002 was a new run with a new coach and they were pretty awful for a few years before that happened.
This loss is very reminiscent of the Miami loss to Bama in the 92 title game that ended their run as the top program in cfb after running roughshod the previous 7 seasons.
I didn't say they didn't belong. Obviously losing to a not that great lsu team doesn't help from the perspective of the national media though. Its not like it would be if they had all their players and won 45-24. Then the media would be pushing for a way to include them or some other G5 sooner rather than later.
I'm still for there being a place for the G5 teams or w/e you call them if the playoff goes to 8 teams. ucf obviously didn't help their case that much with their loss but how can we ignore all the other small schools who did win their bowl games against top 10 teams over the years? Utah stomped a one loss Bama team before they moved to the pac, Boise did it, tcu did it before joining and a few others did it as well. If the P5 schools want to keep them out then they should have done a better job of winning those games rather than having to use the 'weren't really trying' excuse over and over again which is bullshit. Was Georgia not trying also this year because Sugar Bowls are now beneath them? If a team doesn't play its best in a bowl game then that's just poor coaching.
Its pretty unreal how's just kept churning out high quality movies as a director, actor, writer? even past the age of 60 and 70. Almost every other big name actor in movie history slowed down a lot at that age in terms of quality and productivity but Eastwood just keeps going and going even into his 80's. He might end up having the greatest career in the history of Hollywood when you factor in both acting and directing.
There's a case to be made for ND being in the playoff based on them being undefeated and playing a decent schedule but I think there's a pretty decent case for leaving them out also. Most of the big names on their schedule were having down years and they struggled to beat a lot of the mediocre teams. Then of course the no ccg.. ND is playing by their own rules right now just like when they went forever to play bowl games because it was beneath them or some shit like that.
I'll agree with that. People bring up smaller boxers but forget that boxers spend all their free time learning how to use their body weight to drive punches into other people's bodies and faces. They punch something like 5x harder than a guy with similar size and strength would so they can easily knock out a bigger guy because all it takes is connecting with enough power to a certain place on the head or chin. Someone like Norman would have to get incredibly lucky to knock out Lewan and once Lewan gets his hands on Norman he is at his mercy. He would ragdoll Norman with one hand and if he gets on top of him what is Norman gonna do? Not much.
Dude is fairly old now(67) and working the hours of an nfl hc aren't going to help anyone in the aging dept. Plus he should have ran it. That by itself prob aged him an extra 3 years.
Earned and completely legitimate aren't exactly the same thing. Bama earned their 14-1 record and two playoff wins. That of itself does not fully legitimize them being named the national champions of college football last year if certain teams worthy of consideration never had a chance at said title.
Having a G5 team in there every other year would bring in national interest. We've seen non P5 teams beat top 10 P5 teams in bowls on a few occasions now. We just haven't seen them against the best P5 teams without the excuse of 'well they were bummed out having to play the mid major team in a bowl game rather than play for the title' which is always thrown out there when those teams lose. It needs to go to 8 teams. Having one loss P5 champs left out based on what some idiots in a room think is a travesty to the whole point of trying to name a national champion in the first place.
You honestly think its some big coincidence that Bama and probably Auburn seem to always schedule some fcs cupcake the week before they play each other? In fact, the sec is the only P5 conference I know of that regularly works those sort of games into the meat of the conf schedule every single year. I think everyone here knows exactly what is going on there and its called pussy ass bullshit. That is what it is.
Don't get why people keep saying this is the last Avengers movie. Last maybe with the original crew. Not last period. Marvel hasn't said anything about this being the final movie.
idk about player safety but imo if we go to an 8 team format the kids who play the extra games(which will bring in some pretty serious $) deserve to be compensated for it. Even if its only something like $10k per player for the extra games past the first round. A team that plays in the title game would have likely played 16 games compared to the 12-13 they were playing not so long ago.
I'd be perfectly fine with just taking 4 out of the 5 P5 champs every year. **** the Catholics the same way they've been ****ing altar boys for the last 1000 years. Let them join a conf if they want a chance at the big trophy.
UGa had Bama right where they wanted them(again) and then proceeded to do everything in their power to lose that game. They don't deserve another chance regardless. UGa is just one of those teams that will always find a way to fall on their swords at the last possible minute.
It don't matter, refs were gonna rule it a td anyhow. Having two hands on the ball doesn't = control. Guys can have two hands on a ball while catching it and have it knocked out and ruled an incomplete pass all the time unless there's a different set of rules that apply to recovering fumbles.
