Tough way to lose but honestly it would kind of have been some bullshit to win because of an extremely unfortunately timed injury to the Washington RB. I hope he is okay and good luck to them in the final. They played a great game and Texas didn’t really have an answer for their passing game.
The goal line fade is the football version of the iso contested mid range jumper. I hate it and I don’t care if it worked the one time. If anything that’s a reason to go away from it later on. Just a really disappointing game planning and play calling display from Sark tonight. I think DeBoer thoroughly outcoached him.
Despite all that the bottom line is Texas fumbled the ball away twice, including one deep in UW territory, in a one score game. The team that made fewer mental mistakes and took better care of the ball was always going to win this game and that was Washington. They were just the better team.
Still a great year, proud of the team, and will remember them fondly for a long time. Not buying into the meltdown stuff. Enjoy the season and the team for what it is.- 17

You can’t even be mad. Penix is perfect. It’s pitch and catch.
The offense fucked up not scoring on more drives. And 2 fumbles.
That’s the game.
Yep. To beat elite you have to be elite. Texas isn’t, not tonight. -
Pick him off please!!!!
lol they haven’t the slightest clue what is going on- 1

I don’t understand the no call. Either the play is live and it’s a block in the back or it’s inconsequential/dead play and unnecessary roughness. You can’t just erase it.
But still, Washington is completing passes before the defense even knows what is going on. Just completely outclassed.- 2

Embarrassing shit to shit the bed like this. So many key errors
One coach has a 90% career win percentage and one had never won 9 before this season.
Sark has done a legitimately fantastic job as a program builder but not at all surprised DeBoer is coaching circles around him in a one game situation -
Quinn looks depressed, wth
*gestures generally at game*- 1

2 mins TOP lol how
-
DeBoar calling QB runs this game when he hasn't all year is kinda genius.
Washington is a fantastically well coached team. Dude has a 90% career winning percentage for a reason.- 1

They’re just better than us. It is what it is.
Yeah their offense is barely even being challenged. I don’t really have it in me to be upset. This was always on the table. If anyone didn’t think so that’s on them. -
It was a good season boys.
I mean , this but unironically. 12-1 with an outright Big 12 championship and a CFP appearance.
For me this game is house money. I want to win obviously but it’s a great year anyway- 2

That’s your game

Coverage isn't THAT bad
Penix is just going super nova
It was atrocious on that third and eight, and was obvious pre snap. Any HS QB makes that throw.
The TD, yeah. They are very good. Should not be a surprise. -
These are pros against a college secondary, a pretty average one at that.
Texas has to score every time they touch the ball and get another turnover/ST luck changing type play- 1
-
How cute, the sooner dipshit got to throw the horns down during the college football playoffs. Too bad his team wasn't anywhere near it.
Fuck that poverty program -
Exactly. UW played as well as they can in the 1st half and all they have to show for it is a tie.
They muffed a punt to gift us a TD and cost themselves points with some extremely vanilla third and fourth down play calls in Texas territory. Easy there.- 1

Actually was DPI. You can't box out a WR like that. We got called for it on the last drive vs. ou.
lol yeah go back and read the OU game thread and tell me if we agree with that -
If we can find an adjustment on defense, we can win this. At this point, maybe just contain the backfield and concentrate on breaking up passes or better coverage.
We've been very bipolar, and I think that drive might have helped Ewers dial in a bit. If they adjust to the run and our pass starts working, we could be looking at a high scoring 2nd half.
The defense is not going to find an answer. The Washington passing game is too good.
The defensive adjustment is ball control offense. -
Enormous answer. I’m not sure the D is going to find an answer but that is huge for the offense, both on the scoreboard and in terms of rhythm and confidence in an impending shootout
-
God damn the refs for dropping that!!!!
-
Well defended by Muhammad. Can’t ask much more of a cover. The front has to many something happen when they have a shot at Penix like that.
Three timeouts and over a minute. Need to make something of this with the ball -
What a fucking close by Barron. That’s short. I’ll join the choir on the refs if they let it stand
- 1
-
Not if the refs were helping you.
Yeah they really helped UW by letting Worthy tackle the corner on a ball that was going to hit him in the chest. Big brain shit there- 1
-
That should have been OPI on Worthy for the ref criers. I’m glad he did it and that it didn’t get thrown but he tackled the corner on an INT

I’d push back on this specific point. They have three future pros and the Texas secondary was simply outmanned. If you gave me the single data point that Penix would not be sacked at all I’d have bet the house on Washington. Texas’s defense was just beat up and down the field. I mean, I don’t hit 11 YPA on NCAA 14.
