  1. Fair assessment.
  2. Affirmative. Those people are every bit as delusional as aggies (I’m kinda with CTJ on the issue of aggy/aggie), but 100x as violent. I fucking hate that fan base. The women pick fights (fistfights) with perfectly innocent men minding their own business. They throw urine. They’re subhuman. A guy walked into our hotel after the game and pulled off his Ohio State sweatshirt to reveal his Texas shirt underneath. He told us his OSU friend gave him the shirt so he would be able to drive out of the parking lot without getting a brick through his windshield. Subhuman, I tell you.
  3. See, I disagree. They make women look fatter with worse asses. I hate them. I fucking hate them like @Tex Pete hates Kubiak.
  4. High-wasted jeans went out of style for a reason. I hate that they’ve come back.
  5. They might not have wanted to be there, but they also didn’t want to get their stools pushed in the way they did. That game was nowhere near as close as the final score indicated, and it wasn’t because Georgia just decided not to play. They assumed they’d beat our asses and they got punched in the face. It happens.
  6. Campbell could absolutely become y’all’s Bill Snyder.
  7. We aren’t comparing Nebraska to Ohio State or Alabama. We’re comparing them to Iowa State, and there is no comparison. If Nebraska were winning at the same clip that ISU is winning at, NU would become a recruiting power again, simply because if their history. ISU will never be in the same conversation. Not until they win multiple national championships and have multiple Heisman winners. Nebraska is a tier two job. It will always attract up-and-coming coaches. It is a final destination school for the right coach. ISU will always be a springboard.
  8. No need to sugarcoat, Pete. This is a safe space.
  9. Nebraska is in the easiest division in the B1G with a tradition of championships and Heisman trophies. They have something to sell. ISU has none of that. They just have Matt Campbell.
  10. ISU to Nebraska will never be a lateral move.
  11. Really? Didn’t know that, but I’m not reading every post on here, I must admit. Jobs and kids and all.
  12. Why are we out on Allen? He’s one of the most impressive coaches out there, to me. He was a high school coach for a while, which I always think helps coaches relate to other high school coaches. Similar path to the one Traylor is on, though not exact.
  13. Do we let this thing die at 500?
  14. FIFY
  15. He says we’re closetodumping Tom, but we need a replacement with a fucking pulse.
  16. Your story checks out. I didn’t realize he played in Denver. I knew Dan Neil did.
  17. Gene Chizik won a championship at Auburn. Why isn’t he on the list?!
  18. I don’t think either is the answer, but I’d put Traylor in the “maybe down the road” category and Kubiak in the “fuck right off” category.
  19. I posted this on the Urban thread, but I guess this is the more appropriate place. I’m probably in the minority that thinks Traylor could be successful. That’s probably based on close friends in Gilmer who were involved in his hire there and who know him well, personally. Not my first choice, but I think he’s a star in the making. He understands how to motivate and control kids. The fact that the Boyd kids graduated from high school was a minor miracle. He’s a high-character, high-accountability dude. He’d recruit well. High school coaches love him and his players love him. More than anything, he expects to win championships. Gilmer, as in many East Texas towns, has a group of boosters that have to be managed. Nothing to the degree of UT, but a microcosm of it. Those boosters can be the coach’s best friend or worst enemy. He managed them well and used them to keep players out of trouble and actually passing their classes. He understands that being head coach is about more than just coaching. Again, I’m not saying he’s our guy, and I know he’d never get an offer. I just like him better than the guy we have now, and we know he’d be cheap if we found ourselves in a bind. I’d prefer him to Franklin or Fleck, without question.

  21. Agreed. Urban came from non-power five. Riley and Stoops were coordinators. Dabo was a freaking WR coach. Saban didn’t do much more at Michigan State than Dan Mullen did at Mississippi State. In fact, the Saban to Bama and Urban to Ohio State thing is pretty rare. Usually the great coaches are discovered organically. Obviously you pursue Urban until you get your “no.” At that point you do a thorough vetting of the best available options, contrary to how we conducted our last two coaching searches.
  22. Amen. I’m not going to melt down regardless of what happens, but I sure as shit am not going to let the ass clown who announced us to the PAC and Tom to LSU, among other idiotic declarations, ruin my night/week. Chip lives over his skis. He should be covering high school football in east Texas. The fact that he still has a career is laughable.
