  1. Harrell, right? There was some talk about him during the recent OC search that netted us Yet Another OL Coach. If Beck flops (again), will MensaTom go after him, or will he promote Mehringer, or... ?

  2. Dear Walt:

Thou knowest that I am of the Brotherhood of Friends and in consequence of that fact I may not Curse thee, nay, nor Smite thee.

None the less, it is my Cherished Desire that when thou arrivest next at thy Homestead, that thy Mother might run from her Kennel and bite most painfully in the tender Place where dangle thy Organs of Procreation; yea, and that the said Organs might be detached from thee and made a meal of by the Mother.

    Regards, Tex Long

  3. Y'all - most of y'all - are so full of shit.

Saint Darrell was once asked if he favored time of possession or more yardage as indicators of winning. He said neither one, because he had some of his young assistants do some research into exactly that question, and what they had found was that the team with more time of possession won the game 87.3% of the time, and the team with more yardage won 91.666% of the time, but they found a perfect indicator, which they decided to call scoreboard control, and the team with more points won 100% of the time.

Rising and Thompson both looked good but I’m not going to get my hopes up.

Realistically Shane probably transfer next season and if ehlinger is still qb1 I bet only one of Thompson/Rising stays. That’s just the way it is these days. If QBs don’t win the job they usually transfer quickly. If ehlinger is QB 1 for 3 more years hard to see Rising/Thompson staying. Which leaves RoJo, if he is willing to stay as RS sophomore.

Why is that the "realistic" scenario? Do you think he fancies himself an NFL prospect, who just needs that PT to get a decent draft position?

  5. The practice of preventing the Offense from play while the D is subbing is okay, but the play clock should stop, or it should reset to 25 when D is ready. I saw a fair number of delay penalties caused by ref preventing play until under ten seconds on the clock. The 25 second rule is from the ball being ready for play, right? Obviously if the refs are preventing play, the ball isn't ready. Maybe instead of spotting the ball and starting the play clock, let the ref hold the ball until everybody really is ready, then spot it and start the 25.

  6. Fuck that shit. I fucking AM your dad.

Instead of whining about what I say about sports, politics, music and whatnot, why don't you celebrate the fact that, unlike numerous dads of your friends,  I'm actually still breathing, I'm still at least moderately coherent, and that I usually don't shit my pants when you do bother to visit?

  7. If you're gonna love someone for the championship, love Vince. Even with the Offense full of NFL-caliber players, giving Mack greater credit for a coaching job that consisted mainly of telling Vince to "make something happen" is disingenuous.

  8. What's Mack's official title at Texas? You know, the one we use to sorta kinda justify giving the little cocksucker five hundred large every goddamned year? I think the last time I looked, it was something like "Special Assistant to the President".

If we're going to let him be associated more closely with the program, we oughta make that "Special Assistant to the AD". That way, it's Del Conte's problem if he starts flinging shit around - and then when the plasturf gets yanked and replaced with actual by-god grass, Mack might become a permanent part of what will probably wind up being renamed Royal-Brown Stadium, while we trademark and rename the color to be Royal Brown instead of Burnt Orange.
