  1. We have a snow game at Mizzou….
  2. I didn’t know Baker played for Michigan?
  3. Oh shit…. This is getting good!
  4. You didn’t miss much today. It was like watching the May Day parade in North Korea or Beijing. Typical aggy believing their propaganda and the clowns like Pat and Desmond feeding them like seals eating fish at the zoo
  5. I was there. He’s a Senior too as are their skill players. This might be Bay City’s shot and only shot to win it all for awhile.
  6. Plus Charlie was the ESPN/sports media hype pick for the next coach that deserved a shot at a blue blood type program. He had a good year or two at Louisville that put him in that position much like Tom had a Cougar High who was also at the time an ESPN hype pick for the next big job. I can now say thankfully we didn’t bite a third time when Sark was hired. But other than Urban Meyer and maybe Saban’s name coming up I can’t think of a coach from the mid majors or lower profile Power 5 that ESPN pushed as the next big hire. Credit to CDC for being deliberate when he hired Sark. I had my doubts, but I pretty much glad those doubts were wrong.
  7. From the muddy waters of the southern part of the Nueces River FIGHT!
  8. Yep…. Ricky Williams staying for his Senior season was a huge boost for Mack.
  9. Indeed we had a chance to fix things in the late 80’s, but fucked up. A&M got slapped by the NCAA and Sherril left town and RC’s debut wasn’t stellar. Switzer was forced to leave OU thanks to the NCAA hammering them and several of their players ending up in Criminal court. SMU was coming off the death penalty. Yea, we should’ve been filling that vacuum big time with recruiting.
  10. McWilliams was an Assistant under both Royal and Akers who went to Tech as HC for one season and returned as HC when we fired Akers. He was forced out a year after Miami embarrassed the shit out of us in the Cotton Bowl. We kind of sucked before that season and went back to it after that loss. I think he was hired because of his deep ties to the Royal era both as a player and Coach. Alums don’t necessarily make the good coaches at their former school either because of the expectations game. Mackovic was hired after some moderate success at Illinois and kind of had a run similar to McWilliams. Two mediocre seasons to start which sandwiched two decent seasons for which the last one featured the infamous “Route 66” loss to UCLA in Austin. Mackovic much like Herman and Strong was touted by the sports media of the day as the next wonder coach who was going to lead blue blood out of oblivion. It didn’t quite workout.
  11. Fred Akers got his due although he was inducted into the Hall of Honor several years before he passed. I always thought the Akers hate was overboard considering the era he coached in was pretty intense and topped off with SMU, aggy, and OU cheating their asses off. It’s a shame only SMU got the death penalty because aggy and OU were certainly eligible for the same.
  12. I don’t disagree much at all. In 2003 we were 10-3 suffering one of our worst ass whoopingsfrom OU which the previous happened in 2000 under Mack’s watch. On top of that we lost to Arkansas and the Holiday Bowl against Washigton Fricken State. We lost to OU in 2004, but ended the year with Vince doing his thing against Michigan at the Rose Bowl. I might be wrong, but I seem to recall the chatter was on the sports talk shows and message boards of the day that Mack was on the hot seat going into the 2004 season. I never hated Mack like some on here and the fan base, but I do believe he voluntarily overstayed his tenure. The writing was on the wall with five star recruits who were a bust along with staff changes that busted too (see Manny Diaz). Had he left even on a low note without being forced out, the University, Alums and fan base would’ve been forgiving. Or at least much more than some are now. And yes I recall the late 80’s. I was in high school then and was the only kid in my school that seemed to not drink the maroon kool aid. And aggy likes to call our fan base T-shirt fans. They were the pioneers of T Shirt fans and this is before Academy or fill in your favorite mass merchandise store got involved in promoting College teams with a large selection of merchandise like they do now. It was insufferable along with the condition of our program during that era.
  13. I contend Vince Young saved Mack Brown’s and Greg Davis job.
  14. After reading this I feel confident we are indeed at just the beginning of a golden age at Texas. Cj Baxter, J Whit…. Rock solid MEN.
  15. It will be like putting a statue of Bud Adams in Houston…..
  16. Bay City vs Calallen next week. Cal won their game 49-28 against Somerset. It was 49-7 in the fourth before Somerset scored three garbage time TD’s. PLC upset Davenport which some had winning the Region. With both LBJ and Davenport gone, the Region is wide open for the team that is the hottest to take it.
  17. Austin LBJ goes down to La Vernia 13-10 La Vernia attempted exactly zero passes.
  18. You forgot too mention the baseball moms who try to out do each other with $100k SUVs and boob jobs.
  19. I hear Oakland is looking for a team.
  20. Jerry’s cue for a new stadium campaign……
  21. @Helobious what the heck happened to Judson? Even after the initial split, they were competitive. I had someone tell me their game against in Buda against Buda Johnson, Judson might’ve had 100 people in their stands. That’s fricken unbelievable. Reminds me of LaMarque and how they fell, but that’s because the TEA dissolved their ISD and merged it with Texas City. Now what’s left of LaMarque High School is often on the other end of ass kickings.
  22. SEC Refs definitely were trying to help out UGA. Perhaps this is the IOU from the game against us?
  23. It was probably a good thing I was on the road today and couldn’t watch the vaginal bleeding here on Surly…..
