  1. That's a lot of words to say that a lot of net worth is tied up in hilarious memecoins and crypto (literally all stocks right now) and when the correction comes/happens that they won't be feeling the long term damaging effects of losing that net worth. I get that it's great that they invest more, but part of them investing more and having 401k's etc is that it's all a real ticking time bomb when stocks just stop continuing to "always go up". Stocks don't always go up, the S&P 500 has a long term rate of return yadda yadda, you know that buying the index isn't a real thing? if you bought shares in the S&P based on corporations inside of it that the game wouldn't look like that because the ones that fall out have lost substantial value. The cheat code for the index is that they remove things that make the index do things they don't like over the long term. Stocks in fact do not always go up and a lot of stocks are actually terrible speculative investment vehicles that a lot of people collectively depend on to get lucky so they can support their net worth. There are a few stocks that have survived the test of time and have survived through cycles, but there's mostly a bunch of companies that haven't done jack shit or outright died in the GFC. Those stocks are eventually removed from the indexes or whatever people are doing, but they aren't removed from the real value lost in people's portfolios. It's why investing in the stock market isn't a guarantee for money and it's why Warren fucking Buffett is sitting on 300B+ in cash right now.
  2. yes, because in chaos the Republicans fracture and don't even get to 50 votes to reopen the government even with the fillibuster gone. Also with the fillibuster gone they would be completely and utterly fucked. There would be so much shit passed or undone at midterms it would be the end of the GOP. It's the end of MAGA. People would have remembered the thanksgiving that they couldn't eat and that they couldn't travel to see their family for DECADES. They would have not only held on long enough, they would have done it in such embarrassing and completely incompetent and public fashion that the majority of those elected wouldn't be able to seek re-election because of the stink on them. You are severely understating what the eventuality was. That eventuality involved a lot of pain from tens, if not hundreds of millions of Americans.
  3. the war could have been won on this, this was the hill to die on. MAGA dies if they don't cave, full stop and in no uncertain terms and with no caveats. That's what Bozo doesn't get.
  4. I am unaware of Alabama's conference loss. Can you show me it on the schedule or link the box score? Did they lose an OOC game AND a game to a dogshit conference bottom dweller? I fucking missed that, and I wasn't even drinking this weekend.
  5. I was surprised that there wasn't someone who had the athens knowledge come in here earlier. I've heard cool things about it, but unfortunately won't make it to the game this time.
  6. All not running for re-election.
  7. I wasn't saying that. I was saying that I would personally rather watch that. I think a 10-2 Texas and Vandy final record is impossible since that was a hypothetical situation explaining how Ohio State loss isn't impacting Texas. Texas just needs to win out, anything else requires a lot of chaos and help from other teams stepping on their dicks.
  8. No tickets. If I organize catering I'll post the receipt here and solicit donations.
  9. @6th Street We will be at Celis. It'll be the most fun you've had watching the longhorns regardless of outcome and it'll be better than whatever other shitty plans you have, I can guarantee that.
  10. Which is what everyone is claiming gets Texas in, which is why drews argument is stupid.
  11. They wouldn't have done either, option C is they would have worked out a whole other sidestep deal or put in a short term extension of status quo. They would never have caved to the first and reasonable demand. They won't blow up the fillibuster, because if they did it would actually be game over for the minority party (GOP dies) starting in 2026 where the president would be too busy vetoing everything to do any executive orders. The entire point was Rs were put in an impossible position that highlighted everything that was happening is completely and totally their fault for governing like a bunch of fucking morons.
  12. For those that think Texas outdraws the comeback kid story of Diego Pavia and vandys quest for a national championship as underdogs is really kind of smoking some crazy crack. Hell, I'd rather watch that narrative than a 12th ranked longhorns squad who did nothing to deserve to be there outside of having potential. Texas outside of about 5, maybe 6 quarters of football this season has been excruciating to watch. It's not entertaining football. Vandy is entertaining as fuck, it's the right kind of sloppy where the team is doing well, but they just aren't good enough so Pavia is willing things to happen. The Texas vandy game was a great watch, Q4 ms state was a great watch, Q3/4 of OU was a good watch. Outside of that? It gets bad fast.
  13. To cause massive riots in the streets and a wholesale collapse of the government with no one able to ignore the realities that this is caused by a failed government that is completely controlled by a single party at the moment and that party is doing this on purpose. Large scale recall elections, impeachment, crashing of the stock market, enormous market disruption to the point of not being able to function. You know, stuff that happens in other democracies where the government has failed and the people actually give a shit. It won't. My sister was mad at her employer for her premiums going up. The blame is never ever going to be on the government because people don't understand the governments role in this. When the are forced to realize that the government actually is in control of all this stuff, they will maybe care a bit more on who the fuck is running the god damned government Why would they place blame on the government? Most people don't know about the shutdown.
  14. Its impossible to overstate how bad the Florida loss is when considering a second loss on top of it to make the playoffs on a resume. The only way to be sure is to win out and host a home playoff game.
  15. Yeah assume they played Rice and didn't blow them out game 1 of the season. Everything else is the same that's all that changes the entire season. The assumption is that Texas loses to Florida and Georgia and everyone else wins out including Texas at the expense of a doesn't matter at that point loss for TAMU. That's 8-0 bama, 7-1 Georgia (L to bama), 7-1 ole miss (L to georgia), 7-1 aggy (L to TEX), 5-2 Vandy (L to bama, TEX), 5-2 Texas (L to Georgia, FLORIDA), 4-3 Oklahoma (L to TEX, ole Miss, bama) If Oklahoma upsets bama, that only moves them ahead of Texas at 5-2 with only losses to TEX and ole miss and bama down behind aggy because of how tiebreaker works. Texas is the 5th best team with BOMC or the 6th best team (reality) in the SEC. Everyone else lost to good teams with heavily positive SEC records. Florida has an SEC win over... Texas and Mississippi state who just won their first conference game in years.
  16. Hemp issue is massive beyond dopers. The problem is that it was amplifying they were taking away healthcare with other obviously bad things they wanted as well. Now it's just back to the vacuum with no one paying attention. Yes. This.
  17. No, that one too. I've lost 60lbs since then though so no more shamu.
  18. 10-2 Texas with losses to Florida and Georgia when everyone else who is 10-2 in the league or 11-1 in the league has only lost to Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas Yeah dude Texas gets left out. Idk why this is so hard for you to understand. They aren't gonna make the CCG if they win out. That's how fucking competitive the top of the SEC is. The Florida loss keeps them out of the CCG. You need to reframe your argument. The Florida loss is the entire reason why playoffs are even in question.
  19. I'm saying the OSU game has no relevance at all in the playoff rankings or punishment for said rankings. The Florida loss is that bad.
  20. If they win out with a lone loss to Florida they are a lock and maybe even hosting a playoff game.
  21. They are not a lock with a loss to Florida and Georgia. They are a bubble team just like now.
  22. If they lose to Florida and Georgia why wouldn't you put OU in if they beat bama? Why would you bump ole miss? Why would you leave out TAMU even with a loss to Texas? Why wouldn't georgia make it? They lost to Alabama. Vandy would have an argument if they also didn't have their shit kicked in by Texas. 2 SEC loss Texas with 1 really bad loss to Florida when everyone else only lost to other playoff teams is fucking bad my dude.
  23. It would. It's a very very bad loss.
