And, by Johnny, you mean Frank.

Jews being chased through campuses is not a trivial issue.  You should be embarrassed taking the position, "stop bringing that shit up".   What the fuck is wrong with you?

I didn't say it was trivial. I said it was peripheral to what happened yesterday. And, to my knowledge, the extreme harassment you keep talking about that has happened elsewhere hasn't happened on the UT campus. I can cite an instance of a pro-Palestinian protestor getting stabbed in West Campus a couple of months ago, though, if you're interested.

Imagine thinking that a scarf with a politically associated message is intrinsically offensive and a threat (a yasser arafat styled scarf!).

Oh wait, I've seen this one before.

At least he wasn't shot or stabbed. Although I will admit that his smug, self-satisfied grin sure makes his face look awfully punchable.

Well you see, they're orcs. The pro-Israeli protestors are the only humans.

That's right. Who gives a shit if a pro-Palestinian protester gets stabbed for wearing a keffiyeh near the UT campus?

Zacharia Doar, 23, was grabbing a bite to eat with three of his friends Sunday after attending a rally in support of Palestinian rights and calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.

The group said they were near the intersection of Nueces Street and West 26th Street when a man riding a bike tried to rip a flagpole with a Palestinian keffiyeh scarf reading "Free Palestine" off their truck.

The victims told police the man, who has been identified as 36-year-old Bert James Baker, repeatedly screamed the N-word and other obscenities at them, opened the passenger door and pulled one man out of the truck and attacked him. The three others got out to fight him off. Baker then allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Doar in the chest, breaking one of his ribs.

Hell, they don't even have to be protesting. Simple wearing a keffiyeh is apparently enough to warrant getting shot. This intimidation will not stand, right @Bevo?

Nov 27 (Reuters) - A suspect was arrested in the shooting of three college students of Palestinian descent in Vermont, local police reported early on Monday, an attack under investigation as a suspected hate-motivated crime.

A man with a pistol shot and wounded the three victims on the street near the University of Vermont in Burlington on Saturday evening and then ran away, police said in an earlier statement.

A suspect, identified as Jason J. Eaton, 48, was arrested on Sunday afternoon, the department later confirmed. Burlington police and the mayor's office will hold a news conference later on Monday to discuss the incident and arrest, the police said.

Two of the victims are U.S. citizens and the third is a legal U.S. resident, all 20 years old, police said. At the time of the attack, two of the men were wearing a keffiyeh, the traditional black-and-white checkered scarf worn in Middle East, police said.

Fair point.  It does seem at this initial phase that Hartzell was only made aware after the wheels were in motion (pun intended).  He did have time to course-correct, but didn't.  And even if he had the forces in progress were over his head.  I'm more disappointed in him than most of y'all because I've seen his better character.  This was an absolutely fuckup from the Governor to the Capitol to DPS to the System to the Tower, and all points in between.  I will stop making excuses and let the situation play itself out.  But the bad news is, this was very much telegraphed and our shame has only yet to begin.  And that came at a time when the people that did this clamor for "free speech/1A!" will only make it more shameful and painful for current students and alums alike.  The Regents and THECB and UT System knew this was coming, but they had no idea the scope of embarrassment that would accompany it.  We're stuck in some serious shit for awhile.  Buckle up...

And they will continue to try to gaslight us about the nature of the protest.

You provided no proof of the antisemitism. Your statement was vague and sounded like an accusation for all protesters there hating Jews.

There was zero verbal or physical aggression toward our Jewish students among the several videos I watched today. Unfortunately, some posters are too easily swayed by national media and too lazy to look shit up themselves.

In the background of some of these photos, you can see both Israeli and Palestinian flags held aloft by students standing side-by-side.

From here, you can watch several minutes of video taken by the Fox7 cameraman, who would be arrested later, standing among students holding or wrapped in Israeli flags. None of them are being harassed. You can also listen to the chanting of protestors, and nothing they say is derogatory toward Jews or Israel.

And look at these two cute Israel supporters surrounded by protestors. They look absolutely terrified!

It certainly looks like all the cops left to have dinner or something, allowing all those dangerous and disruptive students back on the South Lawn until at least sunset.

I mean, look at the chaotic and yet still polite applause!

If you want to see a movie that is similar to Shogun I would suggest Ran. It covers shogunate politics with epic battle scenes. Personally, I like Ran more than Shogun.

Akira Kurosawa who also made Seven Samurai and Yojimbo made this movie.

It is the WRONG move to memory hole all those posts. It's his favorite move, and it's fucking wrong.

He should have moved the posts to a new thread, rather than just lazily deleting everything. If that's his only solution then @immamac should fucking have a talk with him about destroying his user content and discussion

I absolutely agree with you about deleting content. All of it should've been moved here (edit) or spun off into a new thread.

2nd Edit: I see a new thread with all the original content was created while I was back over here.

Chucklefucks yammering about cracking skulls are likely in an echo chamber of bullshit as far as information goes. Having their nose rubbed in their own heinous hot takes can’t hurt. And it wasn’t political.

In Blacklab's defense, he's been very consistent in his stance that the thread should be restricted specifically to on-the-ground Gaza war shit. And, to be honest, he's deleted a lot of shit I've reported in that thread where the Right-Wingers go off on protestors, who've been trying to put them in the worst light.

I'd bet he'd have allowed a new thread devoted to the UT protests as an ongoing, newsworthy event.

Who called the DPS?  That’s what I’m curious about.  I don’t imagine UTPD did but I could be wrong.

In one of the videos, a woman quizzed a DPS trooper, and he told her the request had come from UT.

Daughter - no pics - said the plan was to gather on the South Mall and march to the capitol and hold prolonged protest there.

Oh, so the protesters' plan wasn't to disrupt class or whatever bullshit excuse they used to start arresting students? The DPS riot police were there to keep them away from the capitol so as not to embarrass our weak-kneed, spineless governor.

Yes, obviously Journalists in Gaza have come into harm's way but rarely at the direct order of the State.  It's usually incidental/corollary.  It was hyperbole for effect.

I mean, tackling and brutally arresting a cameraman who offices just blocks away from the DPS station is an awkward coincidence.  Even for pro-Abbott folks, that''s not gonna sit well because of the time-honored tradition of not fucking with media or medical care providers during heated situations.  Sooner or later, somebody is gonna FOIA their orders and rules of engagement and how UTPD was stepped over and this whole Abbott charade is going to come tumbling down, and right quick.

I just had a text exchange with a Regent and the chair of the Texas Higher Educatino Coordinating Board and they are both completely fucking baffled by this move by Abbott calling in riot DPS.

You might tell Fred to stop giving money to fucking Abbott while y'all are texting.
