  1. According to the article below ESPN tried to Kenny Mayne him and keep him at a lower salary, but he said sayonara. https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/stan-verrett-says-goodbye-to-long-time-sportscenter-co-anchor-neil-everett-we-are-brothers-for-life.html ESPN was dealt another blow with Thursday’s news that longtime SportsCenter anchor Neil Everett is leaving the network, departing after 23 glorious years. ESPN tried to retain him at a lower salary, which Everett rejected (you might remember Kenny Mayne left Bristol under similar circumstances in 2021), opting for a fresh start elsewhere. Like Chris Chelios, who suffered the same fate when his contract wasn’t renewed earlier this week, Everett finds himself a casualty of ESPN’s ongoing budget cuts with Disney looking to shed a mammoth $5.5 billion in costs company-wide. Everett already has a couple irons in the fire—he hopes to expand his studio role with the Portland Trail Blazers next season and is also said to be working on several “side projects.” Still, even with Everett making fewer appearances in recent years, it’s sad he’ll no longer share a desk with Stan Verrett, his co-host of 14 years on the 1 AM ET edition of SportsCenter broadcast from ESPN’s Los Angeles studios.
  2. LOL at claiming the only reason something that has never happened wouldn't happen is due to a totally sensible reason for it not happening.
  3. Duncan is a center in every recognizable understanding of the position. From the position he maintained while on the court to the role he played for the team. Just because Duncan didn't want to be called a center doesn't remove that fact that is the position he provided for his team.
  4. Bomani Jones has made the argument that in 2005, 2006, & 2007. Dirk was arguably the best player in the NBA and is criminally underrated as a result. His Win shares/48 during this period reflects this claim. KG's inability to get Minnesota out of the first round sans a single time in 2004 tells me that there's no debate between Dirk and KG. KG played with Terrell Brandon, Tom Gugliotta, Malik Sealy, Sam Cassell, Stephon Marbury, Latrell Sprewell, Chauncey Billups, Isaiah Rider, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith, and a number of quality NBA players yet did absolutely nothing with his teams when he was the lead dog. Go look at the rosters Dirk carried to the Finals in his 2 appearances there. From 2007 until Luka arrive Dirk only played with 2 other allstars, Josh Howard & Jason Kidd. Mark Cuban deserves a roster malpractice suit brought against him for how inept he's been at building rosters around star players. In their sole playoff series against each other Dirk wiped the floor with Garnett averaging 33 and 16 rebs against him in route to a 3-0 sweep.
  5. I said home and homes but I mean allow the teams to see the other 7 they missed the first year.
  6. I doubt it will be a 1 year bridge schedule. They're going to do 2 years to allow for home and homes with the other 7 teams. At the earliest, I bet the 3-6, 9 game schedule begins in '26.
  7. Narrator: Mitchell was not in fact talking shit about his school. Some Longhornfans feel an incessant need to manufacture negativity about players despite no evidence other than one classmate congratulating another classmate on a new destination. Somehow the kid who was the consummate teammate despite filling a role (without complaint mind you) he no doubt viewed below his talent level is suddenly talking trash about his team. Absolute fucking nonsense.
  8. Ted Emerich really knows how to let the game come to him.
  9. https://texassports.com/news/2018/1/3/mens-basketball-nba-star-kevin-durant-donates-3-million-to-the-university-of-texas.aspx Kevin Durant 01.04.2018 | Men's Basketball NBA star Kevin Durant donates $3 million to The University of Texas 2017 NBA Finals MVP makes the largest donation ever by a former Texas Basketball student-athlete. AUSTIN, Texas – Former University of Texas star and 2007 consensus National Player of the Year Kevin Durant is donating $3 million to UT to support Texas Basketball and the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation. Durant's donation is the largest outright gift by a former Texas Basketball student-athlete in school history and among the largest gifts ever by any professional athlete to his alma mater. In honor of the contribution, of which $2.5 million will go to Texas Basketball, the main entrance to Denton A. Cooley Pavilion will be named The Kevin Durant Texas Basketball Center. In addition, the men's basketball facilities will be named The Kevin Durant Basketball Facility for Men. "My time as a Longhorn helped build the foundation for who I am today as a player and a person, and the UT team will always be my family," said Durant. "It's important to me to continue to give back to The University and ensure that future student-athletes have all the opportunities they need to succeed. It's an honor to have such a close and unique relationship with Texas Basketball, and I'm grateful to be able to contribute." Durant's gift has already funded substantial facility improvements in Cooley Pavilion, highlighted by the renovation of the men's and women's basketball locker rooms, resurfacing of both the men's and women's basketball practice courts, installation of graphics in the men's practice areas, audio improvements and the creation of formal office space in Cooley Pavilion.
  10. Man, I love this style of basketball. Constant movement, both ball and man, is a thing of beauty.
  11. That may be the case but actively rooting for him not to be drafted and continually shitting on the kids seems par for the course with some Longhorn "fans" when it comes to former football and basketball players.
  12. Any Texas hoops fan who roots against Mitchell getting drafted as high as possible is dumb. There's no better advertisement for our program than players getting drafted as highly as possible and performing well in the league.
  13. I don't understand the repeated comparisons to Carr. Like everyone has been saying, Carr was more efficient at Minnesota and had a higher ast/tov ratio. And most importantly, like @longhornmatt stated, Carr played alongside rubbish in Minnesota while Love played alongside comparable, if not, better talent than what he'll play with here. Love is a no go as far as I'm concerned. Efficiency and smart shot selection was easily the best offensive attribute about last year's team. We're already losing our experience in this area, why bring in a guy who is an absolute 0 in the area we'll be most deficient in relative to last year?
  14. I wholeheartedly agree. Not a fan of his at all.
  15. Yep I'll never understand it. Cuban operates the Mavs as if we reside in LA or NYC. Dirk basically masked how atrocious the Mavs' roster was for much of his entire career, and Luka has done the same since he got to Dallas. If we ever took the draft seriously as opposed to drafting south Asian novelty acts we would've played for multiple championships during Dirk's tenure. Acquiring actual, worthwhile assets through the draft is the best way to acquire the elite talent Cuban craves, but he's too shortsighted to ever maintain that approach.
  16. Not only that, but everyone seems to forget that Brunson had unique rookie contract for a 2nd rounder. There wasnt a restricted status provision within his contract because the Mavs anticipated going after free agents during the summer of '21 or '22 and didn't want the cap hold that comes with having that provision. Everything for the almighty cap space, which has been Cuban's MO since he bought the Mavs. Abandon all attempts to seriously acquire talent through the draft and shoot for the moon, while hoping to land elite free agents who never come (which has yet to work during his entire Mavs tenure).
  17. It all deserves ridicule in my eyes. And Ja What about Family Christmas photos? 😀
  18. No one's questioning that. I'm more or less referring to the dichotomy within the cultural zeitgeist that exist where the nba feels compelled to punish this behavior for the benefit of their product while other entities celebrate this machismo by by way of firearm for the benefit of their product. And dont get it twisted. It's the exact same behavior. Using a gun as a representation of one's toughness.
  19. There's no doubt that Ja is a dummy but it's wild as fuck that in the same country where politicos routinely cosplay as Rambo for their holiday pics Ja's instances of performing the same act of feigning toughness by way of a firearm is going to cost him a cool $60 million.
  20. He did pretty much the same thing during last year's playoff run with the Mavericks. Cuban and the Mavs front office did a bang up job in letting him go.
  21. Parson's agent, David Mulugheta, lives in Austin and I believe is a part owner of the Kollective along with Kenny Vacarro, and former UT RB Jeremy Hills.
  22. Nobody is suggesting that we load the team up with nothing but 1 and dones, but this idea that we totally do away with going after uber elite talent because 2 guys who weren't uber elite talents decided to transfer after one year is foolish.
  23. I believe it was KD or Shaq when referring to Porzingis when they first saw him, before his injuries.
