  1. And #26 I nominate Elon for. Just him and a rocket ship on a one way flight. That list is so off the rails that I expect at least half of it to be the law of the land for at least a day. Just a totally bonkers list.
  2. Number one, while it would be of minimal benefit to me, will not happen nor does it need to. I just want my tax money spent wiser than it currently is.
  3. I think I worked with a guy who is a bartender there. He told me he really enjoyed the place as an employee.
  4. Waiting here at LAX for a connecting flight back to NYC. Now there is plenty about NYC I thoroughly enjoy and will miss. Even though my time there is almost near the end I will still enjoy the things that make it one of the most unique places you can visit in this world of ours. HOWEVAH! I have been gone since last Wednesday. In that time I heard exactly one horn honk and witnessed no one pissing right into the street in broad daylight. Only one random fight was two drunks swinging at each other on Halloween near the beach so totally expected because of what night it was. As I wind down in NYC I hope that the holidays are fun and that I cross paths with plenty of cool people from all across the globe. Hawaii won’t be the same as the tourists will be different, but still cool. I would say that everyone on this board needs at least one visit to The Big Apple. You come for the Broadway show, but stay for the random person that swears Leon Panetta tortured them once upon a time. Just a real well-rounded experience.
  5. I think you should post more in the cloak room.
  6. Congratulations to Grand Canyon University on the great lessons they are teaching to their students. I feel like this response was cherry-picked for this article due to giving the dumbest possible answer.
  7. First they came for the landlords and, well, I picked up a pitchfork and joined them.
  8. Well yes if you are targeting younger voters. The attention span is shorter than that of a gnat. I feel like we keep looking to younger people to turn things around, but it’s hard to do when millions of them can’t be bothered to cast a vote. I am in favor of compulsory voting like the Aussies have. Don’t want to exercise your right to vote that people have fought for you to have? Here’s a nice fine for not doing the one civic duty you should value above all others.
  9. Whoa, Whoa, WHOA. Now you’ve gone too far.
  10. Well that won’t be FYPM then. Another bitter old coach pining for the days when athletes only got what a bag man would give them. He’s not long for coaching.
  11. I am sure @InkaUtexas knows this, but they prefer being called Türkiye now. I get a fair amount of Turks where I work and honestly I like calling it that more than Turkey. Just sounds better. I remember the first guy from there who told me that and I just said “Cool man. Türkiye it is!”
  12. I think Europe will fill the void. The old dislike and disgust towards Russia has never gone away. Poland is not going to abandon them and neither are any of the other countries in Eastern Europe that still have sizable amounts of their populations that suffered under communism. They can tell us to kick rocks on this and put some NATO boots on the ground if that is what it comes to to finally shutdown one of the most backward countries in the entire world.
  13. If only General Vandegrift or Chesty Puller were alive to see this brave marine fighting in the 2024 Battle of Honolulu. Makes the sacrifices of those that served on Guadalcanal pale in comparison to this brave hoorahing patriot.
  14. I say Austin as well. Europeans, which are a sizeable part of the people I get where I work, are much more amenable to hearing Austin than Texas out of me. I was proud to be from there growing up, but that went out the window years ago.
  15. I can see how this seems reactionary to ask this question less than 24 hours after the election, but it’s important for folks to do what they believe is best for their kids and family. My choice to leave the mainland was made long before this election and it was not made on who would or would not win, but on the overall direction my life is going. There are better places to raise kids where they can learn more about the world around them. If this man finds that for his family that’s cool. For those who are content to stay here and enjoy life that’s fine too.
  16. I take it she is a Sun Devil? My money is currently being handed to that school for my masters. I might want to see what they are teaching undergrads with a response like that.
  17. It’s okay to give the RGV back to Mexico. Leopards going to be eating so many faces that direction. I would imagine there is a fairly good amount of citizens there who want to “pull up the ladder” so to speak. Not the sharpest tools in the shed is probably being kind in seeing vote swings line that.
  18. First off thank you for having served a country that clearly does not value your service the way prior generations did. Second I believe that you likely instilled the values within your children that you have. They will persevere and be okay. For your family members that are going to be hung out to dry solely for how they choose to live life, well, I hope for the best for them in what will not be a really welcoming climate politically. Human beings never, ever learn from the mistakes of the past.
  19. I sent out my first email tonight for a university I hope to eventually work for or with in the South Pacific. No time like the present to take care of decisions that can pay off for you down the road.
  20. I have spent a week out here in Hawaii and while some things are more expensive I have found that what I researched before coming here is accurate. I can live here for less than NYC and it has the added benefit of being more peaceful. I should be back by mid-January at the latest. I already set up a new bank account and did the legwork on apartment hunting and a job transfer. Just gotta get my two sweet dogs brought back with me and all will be well.
  21. This is exactly who we are and who we have been as a country for far too long. We chose being selfish over the greater good. AGAIN. Historically this does not end well for countries that choose this path. The country that simultaneously fought a world war on the continent of Europe and over thousands and thousands of miles in the great expanse of the Pacific Ocean for the greater good just gave the middle finger to all of those brave soldiers who fought for a better future 8 decades ago. This is shameful and embarrassing to see what we are collectively.
  22. You should have enough contacts in your company and goodwill built up with people to exit stage right sooner than most. Just do it and go enjoy the world. Again life is just so incredibly short. Do what you can, while you can before you cannot.
  23. Were I you I would get on the first flight there just as soon as all the paperwork is the official. Change can be difficult, but that is just how life is. Having read you on here for years I know that you will do better in an environment not beset by constant and unnecessary strife. Go out and find a new place in Europe that will bring you more joy and happiness than America.
  24. I enjoyed the beach again today and finished up writing a paper this afternoon I needed to do for class. This election is not wholly surprising, but I would call it disappointing for the people it will affect in a negative manner both inside and outside the United States. We will now see who picks up the mantle of leading the free world. Last time Merkel was there to pick up the slack and she isn’t walking back through that door. Either way Europe should probably just tell us to kick rocks as we are in no way, shape, form or fashion a reliable partner. 80 years ago we were busy stomping out the last embers of the Nazis and Imperial Japan. Now we have more in common with those two failed dictatorships than we ever should. To those people in Michigan who think not voting for Harris is going to save the lives of your family members in Gaza. Hoo boy does the GQP have a surprise for you. I had decided last year that I was exiting America no matter how this went, but I am able to do that and not everyone that is ready to leave America permanently has that same ability. I’ll put in my two years out here in Hawaii away from the day-to-day mess the mainland will devolve into. I said to myself that once I move that I will never set foot in the continental US ever again. I am okay with that and want to make that choice. Life is too painfully short to live around what the US is about to become. Not every American that wants out has that ability though. I am sorry that millions of our fellow citizens have decided to make your life a living hell solely because they can.
  25. Optimism at tomorrow is good and warranted. If it takes someone doing a dab or two of acid to get things rolling who are we to stand in the way of a good time? I will not know a thing until Wednesday unless some idiot cult member loses his stuff out here in Honolulu and goes full moron at their god king losing again.
