Here's the OL outlook. The idea is that the OL will be better this coming season because, well, it's almost impossible for them to be worse. They were last in the FBS in sacks allowed at 50. Highlights also below and I'm pulling the Arbuckle quote out of the spoiler because it is one of the dumbest set of sentences strung together that has ever been uttered. -They return their most penalized player and someone who led to multiple turnover in Fibechi Nwaiwu at RG. This is apparently a good thing. -The mediocrity at Center is back and he's the other returning starter. -They replace LT, LG and RT. The LT and LG both missed the spring due to shoulder surgeries. You can always expect full and immediate recoveries to labrum repairs for players on the OL. -Here's the Arbuckle quote. This OL is super intentional and they love football, guys. They're out there everyday: "The offensive line, those kids, they've battled every single day. They've shown up to work every single day. They're intentional with their work and they take a lot of pride in their work. That's one thing I love about big guys. They take a lot of pride in what they do, because they don't get a lot of love from anyone. They could be the greatest offensive lineman in the history of football and people still get after them. It's just the nature of the position, but those guys feed off of it. They want to be good. They're intentional. They love the quarterbacks. They love being there for the quarterbacks. They love creating run lanes for the running backs. They love everything about the process and that stems from coach (Bill) Bedenbaugh. He's intentional in his meetings, he's direct in his meetings and that's a reflection of what the offensive line is. They're intentional and they're direct because Coach Bedenbaugh is the man, he's as sharp as they get, and we have a lot of really intelligent guys on that offensive line because of Coach Bedenbaugh." — offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle

Texas A&M Recruiting 2026: The World's Drunkest Elk
closetojumping replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
Spoilered is one of the more bizarre write-ups you’ll ever see. Tarp’s written an article where he waxes poetic about Reuben Owens. Talks about him going to chunk plays and breaking big runs. How he can be a weapon for the ATM offense in 2025. Then he admits that he hasn’t had any long runs or chunk plays since high school except in aggie spring practices and spring games against the aggie defense. He closes by saying that Owens will be role player in the backfield this season. Bear in mind, 5 star Reuben has rushed for less than 500 yards in 2 seasons and I do not think he averages more than 4ypc and has yet to break an arm tackle. -
I guess you missed the part of the promo that says a handjob is included with each purchase. Seems like value to me.

Here's TE. This author's ability to make this unit sound like something enviable is borderline witchcraft. Tarp or Karels at Aggie 247 would have offed themselves facing the same obstacle here. Highlights also below: -They have 7 TEs on their roster. They were trying to find an 8th, anywhere, somewhere, nowhere. Not one of these 7 TEs would be a scholarship player at Texas. -One of their TEs is Jaren Kanak, former highly rated LB who was "perfect for Venables' system" and is yet another high 4 star or 5 star bust at OU. -Davon Mitchell, a 5 star TE prospect, was apparently force fed Chef Boyardee on a daily basis in order to gain enough weight to be an SEC in-line TE. He ballooned up to 275 where "he carried the weight really well" all spring until he announced his transfer, then sooner pundits online and on XM 84 blasted him for being an immature fatass. He's now at Louisville and has allegedly lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks or some shit. -Their probable starter and 2nd string guy are from Pittsburg State, D2 school, and Kennesaw State. -Arbuckle, whose TEs had less than 25 targets last year at Wazzou, is claiming that the TEs at OU are going to be a force.

Here's the LB write-up and highlights: -There's a developing theory that they're actually going to be better this season at LB without their multi-year All American LB who was just a 4th round pick. Now, I thought Stutsman was a joke, but I don't believe for a second that McKenzie was sitting behind him just because the coaches are meanies who don't play the best players. -Did anyone even notice that Kip Lewis started last year? He had the quietest starting LB season that I can remember since Tyrone Jones. -They're really thin at LB. If they have an injury problem, which would never happen with Jerry Schmidt running things, they're in deep doodoo.

A few write-ups to follow here, analyzing position groups individually. Tom Green is the writer from Sooners Illustrated. He's not much for spinning, but he's a died in the wool okie and an extreme homer. The first one is a doozy, the WR corps. Highlights below: -He's still holding out hope that Javonnie Gibson, from UAPB, is able to come back and star for them after having his leg snapped in spring practice. -Apparently, the rash of WR injuries last year had everything to do with bad luck and nothing to do with terrible coaching and S&C decisions. Never you mind that the same "bad luck" carried over into the spring with key contributors going down to career-threatening injuries, again. -They brought in 6 transfer WRs from the portal and I am not sure that they name more than 3 of them. -They're completely dependent upon an injury-prone midget from Purdue, guys from Southern Illinois, McNeese State, UAPB and a group of true freshmen to have a good year at WR. They've already started talking about a true freshman from Tulsa or somewhere else in Oklahoma being "special" due to plays in the spring. They're fucking desperate.

It’s probably on this thread. I think I was thinking 8-4. Might adjust that down to 7-5 by season’s start given their futility in the portal and with injuries.

Ha. I was young and really don’t remember how to spell it. My grandparents lived there and we’d visit. Christmas of 1983 was one of the coldest winter events in Texas. My idiot cousin took my older sister out joyriding in his truck, they hit black ice coming down a hill and my sister was thrown from the vehicle. She miraculously lived but got Theismanned before Joe got Theismanned and broke her leg behind her torso in 7 places. Somehow, she kept her leg and spent 3 months in a hospital in fucking Tyler. We’ve never been back to Bodark/Beau D’arc, thank God.

Problem is, while it sounded funny in my head, it doesn't mean much. Every team in the country will have fewer wins than teeth.

Jeff Howe wrote an excellent article about the role of the 2021 class over on OTF. The article isn't paywalled and here's the link: https://ontexasfootball.com/news/articles/the-importance-of-the-2021-recruiting-class-to-steve-sarkisians-texas-program-r1935/ In reading it, I got curious about the totality of the class, versus just the contributors. I found some of the results in looking these guys up to be kind of fascinating. Below, by OTF rank: -Ja'Tavion Sanders - TE- 5 star ride or die for Texas recruit who signed and stayed without knowing much about Sarkisian. Had a great career at Texas and ended up being a 4th round pick in 2024. -Xavier Worthy - WR - Sarkisian's first HS signee and a near 5 star. Had a terrific career at Texas, set the 40 time record at the combine, 1st round pick and the 1st Longhorn to ever score a TD in the Super Bowl, and then he scored another. A budding star in the NFL. -JD Coffey - Safety - 148th ranked player in the country. Couldn't crack the 2 deep at Texas, now a productive starter at ASU with eligibility remaining. -Ishmael Ibraheem - CB - I remember this guy, 215th ranked player in the country, running into problems with the law. I assumed football would be behind him, but he's playing at Southern Miss after not doing much for Marshall the prior two seasons. A pure bust as far as a recruit goes. -Terrence Cooks - LB - a guy that TCU tampered with and Texas didn't want to see leave. He rushed out the door before NIL could fully be explained/sold to the roster. Looks like we dodged a bullet. He hasn't done shit at TCU either. Another bust. -Jonathan Brooks - RB - workhorse RB who bided his time, never threatened to leave, played his ass off and became a 2nd round pick in 2024. NFL future is now uncertain, sadly, due to multiple knee injuries, but he became a star at Texas and a great story. -Morice Blackwell - S/LB - became a major contributor on STs and a solid role player on defense for multiple years, even if a tweener. He's camped/camping for one of the NFL teams, KC maybe, but he goes down as a quality collegiate performer. The type that plays a role for elite programs. -Byron Murphy - DT - came in and quickly established himself as a potential force, which he became. Ultimately an All American, a 1st round draft pick in 2024, and a massive contributor to the rise of Sarkisian's culture at Texas. -Hayden Conner - OG - the less heralded Katy Taylor OL prospect in this class, he went on to have a much better career than his teammate, Bryce Foster, did at ATM. Multi-year starter who still has not blocked anyone in the run game, wound up a 6th round pick in the NFL draft in 2025. -David Abiara - DE/Edge - came in as a low 4 star, did jack shit at Texas, and promptly split for SMU. While at SMU, he did nothing there either. Now he's headed to Texas State where he'll likely matter, by which I mean he'll have mass and take up space. -Jamier Johnson - CB - couldn't crack the depth chart early at Texas so he left and wound up at Indiana. He's been a productive player there and is likely to be so again this season. -Jordan Thomas - Edge - weird deal here where he signed and then left the team due to a family issue. Came back, didn't play, transferred and disappeared. He's apparently on the SFA roster, but I couldn't find any stats. -Derrick Harris Jr. - LB - seemed like a good dude who was vocal with keeping the class together. Never saw any PT at Texas and transferred. He's currently at USF, but I didn't find any stats. -Jaden Alexis - WR - I forgot this dude. Never did shit at Texas, transferred to USF, had some success in 2023. Missed 2024 due to injury but is expected back this season. -Keithron Lee - WR - we were excited about this guy helping at WR. He threw his opportunity in the trash by apparently putting a relative in a chokehold at a party and then buttfucking that person. He was convicted for that felony and 5 others, eventually, as well 12 different misdemeanors involving drugs, guns and other shit. He's currently in prison serving multiple sentences. Sounds like a stand-up guy. Robert Joseph thinks this guy needs to take it easy. https://wtaw.com/guilty-pleas-to-18-criminal-charges-in-14-brazos-county-district-court-cases-in-16-months/ -Juan Davis - TE - lowly-ranked recruit who simply came to campus and took care of his business. Patiently waited and developed into a regular contributor late in his career at Texas. UFA as of 2025, solid late in college though. -Barryn Sorrell - Edge - another lowly-ranked recruit who maximized his capabilities and potential at Texas and became a decorated starter. Eventual 4th round pick in the 2025 NFL draft and one of the key pieces in establishing the Sarkisian regime at Texas. -Gunnar Helm - TE - yet another lowly-ranked recruit who maximized everything at Texas and finished with an excellent career on a semifinal playoff team. 4th round draft pick in the 2025 NFL draft. -Casey Cain - WR - played a little at Texas when Texas was desperate for WR depth. Got passed over by youth and transfers on the DC and left for UNLV. Played some there and is now at Liberty. Meh recruit, really. -Charles Wright - QB - stanners on this site will tell us he's a great guy who loves UT. That's cool and all, but I want guys on the roster to have a greater impact than being a clipboard holder. Transferred to App State, then disappeared. Allegedly made it back to UT in some form, but who the fuck cares? -Max Merril - OL - this nepo baby showed up and stood around for 4 years, collecting a degree and NIL money. Hopefully he goes on to do great things with his family fortune and contributes to Texas football monetarily in the future. -Isaac Pearson - Punter - this guy came over from Australia and then shit himself at Texas. One punt for 15 yards. He later transfers to SMU and becomes one of the better punters in college football. Thanks, bud. **** Transfers: -Ben Davis - Edge - 5 star recruit who signed with Bama. Never did much, came to Texas, helped Sarkisian and Co. establish a no-nonsense culture. I can't remember who he knocked out, but I believe he whipped someone's ass at practice in 2021 who deserved it. Didn't do much on the field at Texas, but cost us nothing and helped right the ship. -Ray Thornton - LB - came over from LSU. I don't remember him doing a fucking thing while on campus and not sure where he's at these days in life. He could be selling insurance or playing rugby in New Zealand, you tell me. -Keilan Robinson - RB - came over with Sarkisian and became a multi-year contributor and a great story. Drafted in the 6th round of the 2024 NFL draft after never really being a starter at Texas. -Ovie Ogfunanabdfugbo - Edge - transfer from Notre Dame who looked like Tarzan and played like Jane. Helped on some level on defense for a year or two before leaving to LSU. At LSU, he apparently looked good in early practices and that led to the room temperature IQ coonasses honking that they'd stolen one from Texas. I believe he wound being a non-entity for one of the worst LSU defenses ever. -Devin Richardson - LB/FB - came over from New Mexico or NMSU, doesn't matter, and promptly did nothing at Texas. Have no idea what happened to him. So this was an unheralded transition year class that wound up contributing 8 draft picks, including 2 1st rounders, and double digit starters. It also included a future hedge fund manager, a prison gang leader, and multiple starters for other programs. This was a pretty good group and they overachieved compared to this board's expectations.

A madman, sir. A desperate fool at the end of his pitiful rope.

I'm going to start an Oklahoma Football 2025 thread on the football board and post my initial thoughts on their outlook for 2025. It's odd to me that we don't regularly do that but fuck the metathread as the sole football board place to discuss our arch rival. I look forward to us storing receipts on the media clownshow fawning over them during the offseason. As to top WR in the portal, uhh, no. There are plenty of candidates for that and the dude with a fractured leg from UAPB who might not even play this year isn't that guy. What a fucking joke. Every year some new dipshit is proclaimed to be the next great OU WR. Anyway, Oklahoma Football 2025: Grab Your Ankles; Oklahoma Football 2025: Brent Venables Will Chew Through You; Oklahoma Football 2025: Less Wins Than Teeth; Oklahoma Football 2025: Staring At Your Ass Pressed Firmly Against A Mirror. I don't know, still working on an initial title, got some time.

Texas A&M Recruiting 2026: The World's Drunkest Elk
closetojumping replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
I really don’t think Texas wants anything to do with this one. Good luck to any WR choosing ATM these days. It always seems to really work out. -
You don’t have to speak in code. Also, ATM was in favor of 9 conference games the last time this was discussed, I think. I have been all over east Texas. Had family in Lufkin, Groveton, Palestine, Athens, Tyler, Mont Alba, Beau D’arc and Nacogdoches. Never knew there was a Lexington, TX. Thought “wtf is this lunatic saying now?” See above.
-
Does anybody understand what the fuck this is supposed to be saying?
-
They’d be getting $6.25 every year. They’d be not paying the extra $1M-$3M every year. What the fuck are you missing?

He’s been a dud at Georgia and FSU. Given the shitty culture with Venables at OU, I assume he’ll quit on them by midseason without telling anyone about it.
-
That shit is hilarious. R Mason Thomas is completely overrated by their reporters. I wouldn't trade QB, RB, or DE with OU if you paid me. DT? I don't know. I like where Texas is at there as well.
-
You almost have to believe that someone has been murdered for grammatical pedantry syndrome, though, right?

ESPN clearly does not value the FCS games that all but one SEC team plays. They're all relegated to dogshit channels and times, if not only on something like ESPN+. They leaked their range. I'm sure this could clear at $100M with caveats about the FCS games going away or limited to X times per every Y years or something. Fixing that also removes an annual cost for every program to host one of those dogshit programs. You don't have to pay an additional SEC team to create a home and home each cycle. There is a zero percent chance that losing one home game, often the most poorly attended, every other season, is equal to or greater than in value to the additional $6.25M-ish each year, plus improved attendance and concessions every other year for that extra home game. The bounty of $6.25M + $.5M (additional ticket sales, sponsorships and concessions) + $1-$3M in not paying for the FCS game = $7.75M-$9.75M in new annual money seems like a no brainer, even for the biggest SEC pussies.

Is there some history of gorillas taking down humans? I guess I can believe that it's happened on occasion, but I wouldn't put "gorillas" on a list of animal threats to humanity. Now, for gorillas, I feel fairly certain that, on their list of animal threads to gorillas, "humans" is probably pretty fucking high on the list. That said, I thought Congo was a fun book and a terrible movie. Some rock club-wielding, psycho silverbacks clapping human heads deep in the jungle is a moderately terrifying thought.
-
@Mrs Whiggins @BurntOrange&White is a lunkhead, but he asked the right question about T&F, of course in the wrong forum on the wrong thread. Still, how does the T&F program get competitive again at Texas and how far behind, really, is Texas from the upper tier? How wide of a gap?

Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Full Roster Weaponization
closetojumping replied to closetojumping's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
We'll obviously discuss this more later in the offseason, but the hyping of LSU for 2025 appears comical. On offense, they're replacing all but one OL. They didn't win big last year with a veteran OL that included 4! draft picks last month. They couldn't run the ball well with that group but surely that's gettig fixed now with underclassmen who have never played, right? They also lost their starting TE, and his blocking, in the second round. They return an overrated QB in Nussmeier. He's going to pitched by the national media as a Heisman candidate and proclaimed QB1 or QB2 in the 2026 draft without, apparently, most of the people doing it having watched this guy or his film. They will certainly have a strong WR corps including Barion Brown and Nic Anderson to go with Aaron Anderson and Zavion Thomas. The TE spot is fucking terrible. They took Bauer Sharp and Donovan Green in the portal and people actually lauded those takes. Durham is an excellent RB1. Offensively, they should be able to put up points, but there will be growing pains with 3 RS Sophomores and 2 RS Freshmen on the OL and a noob at TE as well. On defense, both Edges are gone to the draft, and they replaced one of them with the renowned loser, Patrick Peyton from FSU. Once crowned part of the greatest DL in the entire country by Thamel and other idiots ahead of 2024, if that guy was worth a shit, he'd have left for the draft. On the other side is Pyburn from Florida and he's decent. They're relying on a soft as pudding Dominick McKinley and a butterball whiny bitch trending towards 450 pounds in Sydir Mitchell at DT. Their DT situation is laughably bad. Strong work by Bo Davis there. Then you have Harold "I'm pretty good against Arkansas" Perkins Jr coming off of an ACL injury and being honked about again as some sort of wizard. The guy had 16 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 FFs, O INTs last season in 4 games before injury. He was really making his presence felt. Next to him is Weeks, coming off a fractured lower leg himself. They return most of their secondary, which I am not sure is a good thing. They added the UH Safety, maybe he helps. The LSU defense of 2024 was plain as grits. They didn't get a ton of pressure, they didn't stop the run well, they didn't stop the pass well, they didn't get a bunch of turnovers and they sucked in the red zone. But suddenly this season, they're going to be awesome and the SEC is shaking in its boots. Right. Regarding the schedule, they go: -@ Clemson 8/30 -La Tech 9/6 -Florida 9/13 -FCS 9/20 -@Ole Miss 9/27 off -SCar 10/11 -@ Vandy 10/18 -ATM 10/25 off -@ Bama 11/8 -Arkansas 11/15 -WKU 11/22 -@ OU 11/29 It's pretty easy to consider that depth chart, the lack of experience, and that schedule and see a ceiling of 9-3. GTFO on them as a playoff team in 2025, especially with Brian Kelly running things. Anyone talking about LSU being better than 9-3 or a playoff either hasn't critically reviewed the team at all, or they're inherently in the tank for LSU in the first place.- 213 replies
