  1. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!
  2. Can a schedule get worse than the 2025 version? I feel like this is one of the worst home schedules I can recall seeing. I reluctantly agreed to go there with the wife and kids once. She and her mom friends had this idea that it would be a lot of fun. I had everyone in the car and heading back to civilization from that hellhole immediately after seeing a foot long turd and a dirty diaper floating in the wave pool. Good lord.
  3. I laughed reading his post and knowing you'd seize upon it. Hahaha. What a fucking goober that guy is. They always do it. They absolutely dominate the imaginary wins landscape in college sports. You and I had the same thought. This is a new development in their behavior. They're glomming onto the notion that bowl games have become meaningless, therefore, they're going to stop counting them (when they lose, only). This phenomenon is the other bookend on the spectrum of made up records to fit whatever narrative they need in order to feel better about their outlook. On one hand, ATM is undefeated in games they never actually played, and on the other hand, they get to actively remove whatever losses they actually incur when they can justify those outcomes as "meaningless".
  4. Overpaying for a single star in basketball is a tale as old as time. It's not even a sports news story. Tech paying a softball player $1M is talked about constantly, on a national level. I assume you understand the dynamics for priorities and traditions are different from school to school? OU expects to compete for national titles in football. Tech? Right. If OU is funding a big payroll for softball but is telling football coaching candidates that they can't fully prioritize NIL to match the top tier in that sport, how many coaches worthy of that job are taking it? "OU has a history of hiring assistants, yada yada ". This is 2025 and any assistant worth a fuck has a good agent and other options. The first question being asked in coaching job interviews, for any sport in the college world these days, isn't "what's the salary?" or "how much is allotted for my staff?", it's "what is my NIL budget?" For recruits in football, you cannot tell a 5 star, with $1M offers from other programs, that you cannot match, but could do X of that, and then sell everything else if the recruit knows that the school is actually paying a fucking softball player a similar offer to what the recruit has received from Texas or Georgia. Same is true for the portal. The Loves may love softball, but OU cannot afford to alienate the rest of their donor base by poormouthing, which they are doing right fucking now, football and then balling out of control for softball.
  5. I don't know why you're posting this here. You should packaging this into a pitch video and getting it in front of her agent. If you do, and you get things lined up for a meeting with her in person, let me know and I will fly out there with you in order make sure we give it all we have for this young lass. This is correct. And to be clear, replacement value conversations have been had for several years now in the big men's sports. It's going to be happening in this cycle for softball and happened with women's bball already. "If I have someone who gives me 90% of what the best player in America gives me, but I have to spend only 10% as much and can fortify other roster spots with additional savings, then that's my route" has been a thing, even for Texas in various sports. The other thing I always bring up that everyone should factor in for these discussions is not just locker room chemistry for a single program on campus. What is being done in one sport travels quickly to other sports within every AD.
  6. That's what I get for never reading the articles. I just assumed "double eagle guy" was always Campbell when I've heard or read shit. "If not someone else will pay it" is the kind of declarative stupidity I'm referencing. Could it happen? Sure. Is it a certainty, therefore meriting your argument? No. Do you think telling me about OU's NIL priorities is new color? OU is not going to throw football overboard for another title chance in softball. If they pay a softball player $1M, they create uncontrollable problems elsewhere. Softball is important at OU, but it is flatly never superseding football. 1) football 2a) softball 2b) gymnastics If they do blow all of that up for a $1M arm in softball, no one will be more excited about them making that decision than me. I'll gladly be wrong on it. I seriously doubt I will be. That would be used to bury OU football forever in the recruiting, coaching, and portal realms.
  7. This discussion between you guys is trending towards clueless fantasy. What does "in on it" mean, here? Oklahoma, Florida and Texas were "in on it" last year, too. Then Cody Campbell's wife told him to make Canady an offer that ended the conversation. No one else was even vaguely close to $1M. Do you think that magically changes this season? Gasso goes and sells $1M for a one year rental? OU is committed to the softball program, but they don't have ready access to $1M for a single player. They don't have that kind of scratch for more than a small handful of football players, either. Florida couldn't afford to buy out Sun Belt Billy's contract. They actively decided to keep a guy that many boosters wanted gone. Now, during the heart of the 2026 recruiting class cycle for football, the UF boosters are going to spring for $1M+ for a softball player? Good lord. If Canady gets $1M or better in this next cycle, it's because Tech re-upped or someone like Oregon went fucking bonkers. The disciplined NIL programs, and the poor ones, are not going to do it. Also, expect more top end pitching talent to enter the portal or leverage the option to force more paydays of $100k+. That simultaneously makes Canady less valuable due to abundance and marginal gap in performance degradation between her and option 2, and also takes numerous potential bidders out of the market. Kavan, for example, is undoubtedly going to have to get paid to stay at Texas. Pickens to stay at Tenn? Won't be cheap. Rothrock at UF? Same.
  8. That is really grim shit. 2007-2008 I was working 70+ at a start-up I'd been at for 6+ years and also working nights putting together a new start-up that I was in the process of founding. I missed some shit and this was clearly one of the big ones. Glad I did.
  9. I've gotten to where I watch a lot of Texas softball every season, but not a ton of other games until the tournament. I'm rooting for the sport because it is fun and so different from baseball. It really fucking sucks to see that obstruction call made when you start considering casual viewers teetering on whether or not they give a shit enough to watch more of the sport. The call was baffling and indefensible. It reminded me of the problems the NFL used to have regarding the catch rule, which they eventually realized they absolutely had to fix. Can you elaborate on this? I've followed things at Texas for only the past 4+ years and have no familiarity with much of the history before that for other programs. I feel safe assuming I'm not alone in that regard.
  10. Hahahahaha. WTF? Do you have a link to cite regarding Brown being forced to apologize to the UT admin? This is the first I have heard of such and it will either be entertaining to read about it or entertaining to see you passing on something absurd like this that has no foundation in reality. I can't lose. Thanks in advance.
  11. I viewed the guy as a complete non-entity. Good luck to him at Louisiana Directional or whatever.
  12. Sorry, but this cracked me up on Red Raider Insider this morning. Just outstanding.
  13. “Rank by year one records” is an awesome metric. Really tells the whole story for every coach. Why is Billdo Liucci the first guy to discover this?
  14. He needs to have played football in order to have an opinion about future CFB outcomes on a message board?
  15. Tennessee/Florida is usually in the middle of September. It's in late November this year?
  16. Hey man, what the fuck? Are you pre-menopausal or something? Nobody else better start sharing their feelings around here. When I checked out Red Raider Insider earlier, this is what I gathered: 1) Not a single thread on softball started by a mod. They're dead silent on the finals tonight. 2) One meta-thread for the season that started in mid-March with various folks initially chiming in to mock watching women's softball. It's now at 44 pages. 3) 4 other softball threads, one asking for help in understanding the softball rules. While there is just this one thread on this site, it's a very active thread and has been around since long before the season started.
  17. One of my best friends, who has always been aware of Hornfans/Shaggy/Surly but isn't a lurker or poster, made this and HenryJames posted it. Way back in the day.
  18. I know with the quoting and stuff it can become unclear, but it was a poster calling Sarkisian a drug addict and Tarp taking him to task for it.
  19. Anyone know anything about Tudor Fieldhouse? Is it difficult to get tickets? My youngest daughter is playing and loving volleyball and just asked me last week if I'd take her to see Texas play this year.
  20. Sir, you can remove the credit for this thread derail from my cold, dead hands. This started when I asked about a Dave Grohl reference and then things began spiraling when his drug-addled drummer hit on my wife.
  21. I’m reminded of the old business line “how long do you let an 800 lb gorilla fuck you?” here. “How long does hagbard celine let Bono fuck him?” ”As long as Bono wants. “ Don’t take it too hard. I’ve met CDC at least 50 times, including in closely held meetings, and I feel fairly certain he wouldn’t remember me if I ran into him right now and kicked him squarely in the nuts.
  22. Apparently, his nickname is "Gig".
  23. Hahahahahaha! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense. They're not being altruists or strategic thinkers on this. They're simply not interested in codifying their position as merely a second tier conference in an explicit manner. Klatt is 100% correct with his argument. I realize not everyone on here has had the misfortune of being present in a board room when leadership is facing a daunting outlook and some of the sunshine-pumping ass-kissers start vomiting false hope and everyone else starts injecting that into their veins as well, but that is almost certainly what the Big 12 and ACC board rooms are doing in this set-up. They're convincing themselves of the premise that they'll outperform their past as they look to the future, even though their foundation has actually gotten weaker relative to the competition. It is flatly idiotic for those groups to leave a locked up spot sitting on the table. The SEC and B1G will ultimately figure out how to take all of the at-larges on a virtually annual basis.
