  1. He's a finesse air raid guy. This will be a fun mix to watch next year between that offense and the Venables defense.
  2. At one point, he was under investigation as a campus serial rapist. I expect him to land at Baylor, Oklahoma or Penn State shortly.
  3. You should blow right by pissing and dive straight into shitting your pants. Or just shit fire and save matches. Good luck either way.
  4. Translations to English are bolded in the quoted text.
  5. This is the most anyone has written about a punter in a single post in the 27 years I've been reading the boards. It's not every day that you get to see a first, so thank you for that, sir. It's doable. You don't have to match that or come very close. You need a guy willing to bet on himself that, if he comes back for a fraction of that and produces, he'll have a shot at a 2nd or 3rd round grade. Get paid now and then get paid substantially better with another year. It has worked for multiple players, so he might be one of the next candidates. I agree that relying on portal players for any position is tenuous. So does the staff. Everyone would rather be building off of a strong foundation of productive HS talent. Even prevalent positions in the portal like QB are fraught with peril. Someone is going to bust at some point and lacking depth is going to hurt. FSU with DJU this year (and several other position groups, frankly), is a cautionary tale in this light.
  6. Bledsoe's gone, so we can classify him as a bust. Bryant has ... not been good this year. I'll cling to the same hope as you and maybe something develops there. Mitchell is another one that may or may not be at Texas a week from now. If he sticks, he's crossing over into the territory where we might wind up having a player.
  7. Posted this just now in the aggie recruiting thread, but here's some more and a miscount somewhere: Looking back at The Greatest Recruiting Class of All-Time, HOLLAAAA!!!!: Walter Nolen - gone Evan Stewart - gone LT Overton - gone Denver Harris - gone Jacoby Mathews - gone Anthony Lucas - gone PJ Williams - gone Jake Johnson - gone Smoke Bouie - gone Marquis Groves-Killebrew - gone Chris Marshall - gone Bobby Taylor - gone Ish Harris - gone Ethan Moczulski - gone Shemar Stewart - stayed - draft pick Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy - stayed -bust, rumored to be leaving in winter 2024 window Conner Weigman - stayed - bust, rumored to be leaving in winter 2024 window Enai White - stayed - bust, rumored to be leaving in winter 2024 window Bryce Anderson - stayed Kam Dewberry - stayed - dude had one snap on Saturday Le'Veon Moss - stayed Malick Sylla - stayed - 60 snaps this season Donovan Green - stayed -got fat and slow after being hurt, getting married. rumored to be leaving in winter 2024 window Hunter Erb - stayed - 11 snaps this season Martrell Harris - stayed? - Zero snaps this season. Maybe he left? Theo Melin Ohrstrom - stayed Jadon Scarlett - stayed - 8 snaps all year Jarred Kerr - stayed - 35 snaps all year Noah Thomas - stayed Mark Nabou - stayed 14/30 gone with more leaving shortly. Moss, Nabou, Ohrstrom, Anderson, Thomas are the only true producers to have stuck it out. Anderson was a borderline 5 star and now might not be drafted. The others were mid-to-bottom of the class and have outshined the heralded highly ranked guys. This is the kind of class that destroys a program.

  9. Strong shot of being 0-5 on this one. Obviously I hope I am very wrong here. 10-ish sounds right. The Texas MO for the portal has not been to go nuts. Maybe that changes this cycle, but I doubt it. -They'll likely add 3-4 DTs. Several of those will be role players. -1-2 WRs. I think these will be proven, productive P4 guys and at least one will be a burner. -1 TE if they can find a star. If Niblack is back, plus the fact they like Washington a ton, and Townsend coming on board, maybe they stand pat here. -0-1 TB. Just depends upon the health of CB and Clark. -0-1 LB. There's a lot to like about who they're returning and who they're signing, but they find a guy that can play STs and fit into the rotation, this wouldn't be crazy. -2-3 DBs. We're going to see some DB attrition and they need DB depth and special teams help. -1 P. I don't care if Kern is back or not, they need to try to improve this spot. -1 K. Auburn ain't cutting it. I don't see losing enough OL to make it worth going after an OL. OLs are expensive - another key facet for having excellent, home-grown OL depth. I don't know why they'd feel it necessary to find another DE, given what is on campus and joining the roster.
  10. Yeah, I said he was a solid "double" from the portal for the program up the thread. He's still a role player offering limited snaps each game.
  11. It's in the aggie 2025 recruiting thread somewhere. Going into the season, I think it was like 50% of the class was still there.
  12. Ogden was being groomed to be the Assistant AD for BB, but I'm not sure if that's still the case or not. The role was going to be independent of the HC for hoops and function in many ways like a GM.
  13. Norton was viewed as a one and done role player, which is what they got. He made low 6 figures. I'm not sure it's going to be much different for that type this cycle. Graham and Grant could have either picked up $750k in the portal. They were retained for slightly less than that. That is going to be around the ceiling for DTs this time too. If an AA enters the portal somewhere, maybe the number goes to $1M, but I doubt it. I just don't see a lot of inflation. Blind squirrels still find acorns and broken clocks are still right a couple of times each day.
  14. Ha. That post was not aimed anyone's political views, more just how off-putting the whole concept of political yelling matches is to me in general.
  15. There are many GM roles in place, with admin support underneath them as well as scouting. They're just all generally reporting to the HC instead of having him report into them. There are pros and cons to that. Texas has a terrible GM in place and the HC and coaching staff are carrying a lot of water accordingly. If the HC sucks and the GM is a wizard, I am not sure it works for a program with the HC on top.
  16. I doubt it. Texas did well at DT due to scouting and evaluations. There was big money thrown around last cycle for DTs all over the place. Texas was interested in Grant, Graham, Williams, Alexander, the dude at UCLA, the UH guy that went to Oregon, etc. All of those guys went for the kind of money that lead to Texas not matching and seeking value elsewhere. We've already been to this movie.
  17. I've not heard that he's any sort of problem regarding attitude and such. I also haven't heard if he'll be back or not. They never got to a spot where they trusted him to handle the playcalling, allegedly. Maybe him getting more snaps this past weekend is promising.
  18. I can't really point to some random post of TexPete's on this subject because I've never bookmarked a page on this site, for any reason. And I haven't noticed him doing it any more than others, but I'm not tracking the guy. It sounds personal with you guys. I can say that when I've told folks to kill the political shit or get fucked, they've either killed the political shit or they've gotten negbombed by many folks on the board. Access and rep are the coin of the realm here, whether we like it or not. So getting someone crowdsourced or trending towards it is about all we have. I'll argue it does work, which is why it only pops around here every few weeks or so. Cloak Roomers generally cannot fucking wait to bring their shitty political takes into any discussion, so if it wasn't working, all of the echo chambering honks from that place would be shitposting here too.
  19. I agree. I also didn't react to the original post from whoever it was due to that, but I see the other way of it too. This reads like a school marm wrote it. The recruiting board has always washed its own face and has no need to fall back on "ackshually, I need to speak to the manager!" as a means of managing dialogue unless it is last ditch effort.
  20. I understand that the computers like Clemson enough to have them matching SMU, but I view that as evidence of bias. I don't know how they're biased, but I've lived long enough to know that designers weave their biases into their creations. Some sort of weighting to recent history in prior seasons or some shit wouldn't be surprising. I bring that up only because I think having Clemson as a pick'em against SMU is fucking dumb. Clemson doesn't have the dudes that they've had in the past. SCar looked substantially bigger than Clemson on both fronts. On the SMU end, they are very fast and not lacking for size compared to Clemson. They also have an electric QB that will give the same Clemson defense that shit itself against Sellers fits.
  21. I don't get trying to troll TexPete on this issue. He's correct regarding the general sentiment of this board. Y'all have a playground to go yuck it up on that shit and no one is pining for it elsewhere.
  22. The pending House settlement is allegedly causing many schools to balk at paying massive buyouts to make coaches go away. Those schools are instead funneling more money into NIL and hoping the current coach gets their shit together. I don’t know about all of history and one of the pedants on here will certainly point out some unknown from the annals of history if they can, but Gundy is easily the best coach at OSU for any of our lifetimes. Jimmy Johnson wasn’t there long enough and Gundy’s longevity is kind of crazy. He’s still not super old. They’d be idiots to push him out. The notion that someone else could come along and repeat his success, much less improve upon it, is frankly laughable. Okie State is historically a backwater program unless they’re paying out the nose to buy players. Now that everyone can buy players, good luck to them being competitive on that front. They should hang on to Gundy with white knuckles. Jimbo is a dumbass and did his best to tear two different programs down to the studs, but the guy can recruit. I don’t think Texas would have anything to worry about, but all programs on the east coast, eastern midwest and in the greater Philly/NJ area would have to start accounting for WVU with big time recruits. VT, PSU, UNC, Ohio State, UGa and Tennessee would all have a new headache to deal with in recruiting. Also, Fisher is allegedly a very petty motherfucker. He’d likely go out of his way to fuck with ATM. There’s no offset to his ATM contract. It would burn them up even more to know he’s getting paid good money by someone else every time they cut the annual check.
  23. The conversation should be about 6/11. The 12 seed goes to UNLV or the Big 12 winner.
  24. One thing to remember here is that Texas doesn’t always ignore the lunatic shit. They’ve never been the lunatic, thankfully, but they have decided to beat them on multiple occasions. Retaining Worthy when Riley offered $1M wasn’t done via reassuring conversations with X. Texas didn’t get Wingo signing on the line that is dotted by just poo-pooing Missouri. Muhammad is a budding star at Texas because Texas decided they didn’t see anyone of replacement value within reach. I am not sure we don’t see some of that over the next few days. It won’t be explained to the board either way, at least any time soon, but you guys can stay hopeful, I guess. I will say that if Texas lands Justus Terry, Texas decided to be the lunatic.
