  1. For a bunch of assholes, this group kicks ass. As soon as I found out she was coming to us I told my wife (no pics) "Once we get her cleared by the vet I'll put her up on Surly and I'll bet she'll be in a good home in a couple of days". Surly proved me right.
  2. I wish I could rep this twice. Lot's of allergies over here for some reason.
  3. @irishtexan just picked her up to take her to her new forever home. We'll miss her, but I know she'll live her best life with his fam!
  4. I'm not worried in the least. July.
  5. She and Rocco are going to be best buds and she's going to be get all the love she needs from @irishtexan and his beautiful family. We'll miss her but this is the best outcome we could hope for!
  6. Surly comes through again! One of our own has invited her to join his lovely family! I'm not going to out his username but he can pipe in if he wants. I'm proud to be part of this community of assholes. We get to say goodbye to her tonight and tomorrow she goes to her new home. The women folk are already getting weepy about it.
  7. @immamac or whomever put the banner up, thank you!!!!
  8. She's ready now. We just got confirmation that she's parasite free and she's up to date on all shots. Just need the right person/people to take her home and give her the love she richly deserves. I've been working with her some and I think she's full yellow lab. She's young enough that with training I think she'd make a great hunting dog or just a wonderful family pet. She is so calm and she's pretty damned smart too. Frankly, I wish I could keep her. Exercise equipment? You mean storage appliances? Don't get me started.
  9. It can do a bunch. Tactical reconnaissance, delivery of supplies both humanitarian and military, supplemental air defense, etc. That's before even considering offensive combat operations.
  10. She's precious. If I didn't have 4 boxers already she'd be staying.
  11. Yellow lab mix or maybe pure. Female. Vet estimates she is about 3 months old. She was dumped in the county near a friend's place. She's heartworm negative and she just got all her needed shots today. Looking for a good home. Super sweet. Quiet so far in the 3 days we've had her. Haven't heard her bark once. Acts like a lab. Loves to chase a ball. She's 38 lbs but will most certainly get bigger. 50+ lbs probably. Crate trained. Very social but a bit shy considering her experience. Haven't tried her around my other dogs yet because they are big and rough so not sure how she is with other dogs but I doubt it's an issue at this point. PM if interested. No fees. We just want to find this sweet girl a good home.

  13. I, too, was there in similar seats. Only Shootout I've attended in person. We lost our shit when Stony came out of nowhere.
  14. At one of our hospital cafeterias back when I used to have to go in to work, we had a fry cook who made the best migas I've ever had and one of the keys was that he would slice up fresh corn tortillas and fry the strips for the migas as he was cooking the eggs and other fixins. No bagged tortilla strips for him! He left after about a year and I've been in mourning ever since.
  15. I think DPS just likes to shame people. "You should take care of your vehicle" is one I've heard more than once for things I wasn't even aware of. I used to work downtown and my middle aged white self driving various late model vehicles got stopped at least 3 times for that stupid crap. Once for an inspection sticker that expired the day before, once for a bad tail light, and once for, get this, a dirty license plate. Yeah. They're dicks.
  16. That's DPS MO alright. They can spot an expired sticker from 300 yards and God help you if you don't have a front plate or all your lights working. Dudes used to sit in their cars at the little DPS office on 15th street across from the capitol, where they have about a 3 block jurisdiction and pull people over at lunch time just to get their jollies.
  17. Medicare is for old people so I'm not really surprised that would be their initial focus.
  18. I swear you could use a serial mouse cord as a grappling hook and you'd never miss. Those fuckers would catch on anything and everything.
  19. The Four Seasons Landscaping thing still gets me. Every time I see pics or get a reminder about it I just shake my head in awe and disbelief. How in the ever living fuck could that have been allowed to happen? It's still flabbergasting.
  20. I got that bullshit too. I'm in south Austin.
  21. I don't know much about how all this will play out and it seems pretty cleat that something about he relationship changed over the years. I do know that my wife (no pics) worked for a non-profit that did conventions/training and Leigh Anne Touhy was a featured speaker one year. Let's just say that she wasn't very popular amongst the folks who had to deal with her. Demanding, condescending, conceited, and self important were the words that were used.
  22. Didn't see combat, thank God, but I've crewed every position on an Abrams. Almost impossible to see mines if they are deployed correctly. We mostly liked to operate at night since out night vision/thermal imagers were so good. Many mines use a probe instead of pressure so that it doesn't have to be run over by tracks to explode. They are easier to see in open ground but are more designed to be deployed in vegetation obviously. Those are the ones that really scared us because they were designed to blow a penetrator up through the bottom of the tank. That would usually be the end of the driver. Running over one with a track would usually just immobilize you instead of killing you.
