  1. It's kind of incredible aggy is so average. Wade Taylor is one of the best players in the country and they are one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country. A decent coach could win with this team.
  2. There's still plenty of time for those Bama players to enter the portal. It's a 30 day window isn't it?
  3. One of those interior DL needs to leave. Payne looked like a monster in the playoffs and he was hardly playing this year. Even without all the coaching changes it doesn't make much sense for Oatis, Keenan, and Payne to return next year. One of those guys can get a bag somewhere else and be the "guy."
  4. Well yeah, you still need a good coach. But Disu, Carr, Allen, Hunter, and Bishop were all highly-rated transfers. It's not like Beard went out there and recruited a bunch of nobodies from the portal and prioritized fit. He added legit studs from the portal. Of course you also need a coach that knows how to make those studs fit together.
  5. In all the major sports, I would say they're all recruiting at a top 5ish level (HS recruiting and portal combined). Football for sure, volleyball for sure, women's basketball for sure, softball for sure, and men's basketball is definitely around that when you consider what Beard/RT have added the last couple of years. The weakest recruiter out of all the major sports is probably David Pierce and damn even he's seeing the advantages of the new landscape (I.e. the #4 recruiting class in '24 and #2 recruiting class in '25). It would take a huge failure to not be able to recruit at Texas right now.
  6. Every major program at Texas is recruiting at insane levels (both portal and HS recruiting). RT has no real accolades as a head coach and he has the #6 recruiting class in '24 and brought in a couple top 25 transfers this last cycle. It will take a huge failure to find a coach that can't recruit at Texas right now. Also, Sark had not been "winning a lot" prior to this year. He's done a damn good job of maximizing the advantages he has with NIL so I give him credit for that.
  7. I'm not really worried about the roster with a good coach. See what Beard did in year 1 with the portal after all the roster turnover and see what Sark is doing in the portal. NIL seems like it's a major advantage for us with the right coach.
  8. It really does feel like Sark is building something special.
  9. So much for TE and WR being a weakness next year. We are a DT away from being a national title contender.
  10. It is kind of wild that in 4 years we could fire 3 coaches and during that timeframe we still won 2 Big 12 tournament titles (best conference in men's basketball), made an Elite 8, and won 4 NCAA tournament games. If you saw those results you would never imagine that Texas would potentially be firing their 3rd coach in 4 years. Granted, Texas didn't want to fire Beard.
  11. The problem is once losses start piling up there are going to be transfers. It already looks like Hunter has completely quit on the team.
  12. I'm normally in the crowd of "never root against Texas" but our best interest is now for the season to fully collapse. We're #66 in NET and only have 1 Q1 win. This team is far from being a tournament team. Rooting against RT last year didn't make sense because we were actually good with Beard's players (see the Big 12 tournament title and Elite 8). But this team? We aren't good. I don't see why we should be rooting for a 6-12 finish.
  13. I'm really not sure why people think there's no chance RT won't be fired after 1 year. A 3-15 Big 12 finish would be our worst year in conference play in about 40 years. That would probably also lead to roster turnover and losing at least one of those top recruits. RT is 100% getting fired if Texas finishes 3-15 or 4-14 in Big 12 play.
  14. In fairness, looks like Shedrick is never healthy. But that seems like who he is at this point. A guy that's never healthy.
  15. I don't know why the buyout is even a discussion. Texas paid $15.4 million to get rid of Herman who was a much better coach than RT. The ROI on that decision was 100X the value 3 years later with a Big 12 title and playoff run. The same will apply to RT. They will recoup that $12 million in a year if they field a successful basketball team. The buyout isn't stopping Texas from firing RT. It's the narrative of "you have to give coaches more than 1 year."
  16. I disagree with the 2024-2025 part. IMO, Texas will fire RT if they finish 3-15 in the Big 12 and there's a legitimate replacement available. He's not wrong though. How many schools would have fired an interim coach that just won a Big 12 tournament title, made the Elite 8, and were in the lead for multiple 5 stars in the '24 class? I say none. We all questioned RT's coaching ability and we can all say "fuck the optics" after the fact but it was just a very undesirable situation. I'm more pissed at Beard for beating his fiance and putting us in this situation.
  17. Rumor is Louisville was talking to multiple coaches behind the scenes. The only reason Louisville didn't make a change is because they likely couldn't get one of the coaches they wanted.
  18. Also, $12 million is chump change. I can't believe there are actually people worried about the buyout. Texas will pay that in a heartbeat if they don't think Terry deserves another year.
  19. I have little faith in RT being able to build a roster around 3 true FR. Those recruits should have no impact because they will likely be gone in a year due to the NBA or coaching change. This same argument was made for Greg Brown and retaining Shaka. It resulted in zero NCAA tournament wins and 1 year of Greg Brown.
  20. True FR are not going to do anything for RT next year with all the roster turnover. Hire a top-tier coach like Donovan and retaining those type recruits is still in play.
  21. Sampson's son is HCIW because the dude is 68 years old. Come on man.
  22. Kelvin Sampson will be 69 at the start of next season. It's pretty clear UH is also already in the process of making a transition with his son in the near future. Please stop talking.
  23. If Texas finishes with 3 to 5 Big 12 wins and all the roster turnover that's coming, it's almost a certainty. Texas paid $15.4 million to get rid of decent coach in Herman to hire Sark. I can't believe there are actually people that think Texas wouldn't pony up $12 million to get rid of RT if Donovan becomes available. This is just a no brainer.
