  1. In every instance I was looking for a new house in the Austin area, there has been a house I liked that I could not afford. That's par for the course. The house I could not afford was better than what I purchased. Such is life in Austin, Boulder, etc.
  2. Friend of mine was on a jury for a DV case a while back. The definition of strangulation was quite broad: restricting air flow or blood flow through the neck - or the apparent intent to do so. When law enforcement officers (LEO) were questioned about previous examples warranting strangulation charges, he said he was amazed. One example was something like: woman rushed man in a rage; man extended arms to grab shoulders to keep her at a distance; one hand slipped and touched her neck. Strangulation charge. There were other similar examples of what was clearly NOT strangulation, but the charges were still filed. LEO will charge an let the legal system play out. Not sure if such an example was cited before. For what it's worth..
  3. Just paid tonight. Sorry about the delay.
  4. Are you implying a darker skinned fellow is the culprit?
  5. RIP, Mike Leach. College Football - on and off the field - was better with you here.
  6. A Redditor posted a cut-paste from the MSU 247 board: The use of "disturbing details" makes it seem a little more dire than a medical issue. EDIT: that said, there are rumors of coding multiple times. I'd characterize that as disturbing. Prayers for Leach and his family.
  7. Is this the modern day equivalent of calling Deion an Uncle Tom?
  8. According to https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/football/2022/12/11/this-year-our-staff-heisman-trophy-voters-agreed-on-the-same-player/69716486007/ (paywalled). Bohls: 1- Duggan, 2 - Robinson, 3 - Williams Golden: 1 - Duggan, 2 - Robinson, 3 - Stroud Still looking for FCB's ballot. EDIT: Spoiler'd a cut-paste of what is paywalled. Somewhat banal, but it is Bohls and Golden.
  9. Here's a decent summary of the results: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/heisman-trophy-2022-winner-voting-results/aj03p9wopvjvxgcrvbisudij Voting results: Finish Player Pos. 10. My first reaction, too. Then I realized that Musk (and his buddies and his creditors) just paid $44B to buy Twitter. He owns it. CU has given Sanders an annual $5mm promissory note to coach the team and his first actions as coach are to publicly run off whatever talent he's inherited. He's an employee. He could have introduced himself, discussed his philosophy, noted how he was going to interview and evaluate everyone, and fielded questions. Made it about the players and the team and, behind closed doors, remind the players that they helped get the previous guy fired. Expectations will be high, etc. etc. etc. In true Deion form, he made it about himself and went full-on mercenary mode.
  11. IIRC, it is the academic progress rate (APR) that is used to place 5-7 teams. I'm not going out on a limb to guess Rice has a better APR than the Aggies.
  12. I'm a bit conflicted, but it seems like a TD there is an asshole move.
  13. IMO, Purdue would beat both ISU and WVU. Using the Sagarin method for point spreads (which matches many opening lines), Purdue and ISU are a pick-em.
  14. Down 17, they'd need a FG at some point. Plus, perhaps some big donor has Purdue +16.5... And Brohm knows.
  15. O'Connell has fumbled 2 of 2 RPO "pulls"
  16. And the incomplete pass earlier. They are garbage.
  17. That was a nice throw and catch to Loveland.
  18. Holy shit - that was a textbook case of targeting. I guess my textbook had a misprint.
  19. Usiung Sagarin rating as a basis, Purdue-ISU would be a pick-em. Purdue has some decent wins (Illinois and Minnesota) and some bad losses (Syracuse, Iowa). Every other Big12 team - except Kansas and WVU - would be favored over Purdue. TODAY, 4 of the other 6 Big10 West teams would be favored against Purdue. Go Boilers!
  20. 5th in completion %-age (Nix, DTR, Rising, Penix) 2nd in total yards (Penix) 1st in yards per attempt 1st in TD, fewest INT top passer rating. Who is better? Who would you rather have?
  21. Breech or breach? I think either works when Holgo is involved.
  22. Those numbers do include the signing bonuses. There was a major rework of the rookie salary scale a few years back. Numbers are much lower now, but 100% guaranteed. 2022 Top-5 picks got 4 years for $31-$37 - including all bonuses. For reference the top RB in 2021 (Harris) received 4-$12mm. Yes - there is risk if he stays and the numbers are 100% guaranteed. Unless he projects to the 2nd round (he should not), Bijan should go to the NFL.
