  1. He was OC at Trinity Christian from 2017-2020. He did it to coach his sons. It is important to note they were in TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) at the time. Their record: 2016: 4-6 2017: 12-1 2018: 14-0 2019: 13-1 2020: 10-1 2021: 3-5 While he and his kids were there, they went 49-3. They beat Regents School of Austin 3 years in a row to win state (2017-2019). They were punted from TAPPS after 2019 for various violations. My suspicion: recruiting and winning too many games. It's happened in the past w/ TAPPS. When TAPPS formed, Dallas Jesuit and Strake Jesuit were not invited and joined UIL
  2. The talent is lacking, no question. Is that because the players suck or they received zero development under Herman or they are just entitled? Don't know. Don't care. I'm trying to think of players on this team who get any playing time on teams from 2003-2009. Offense: Bijan, Worthy (maybe, as he's a freshman) Defense: Anyone? Maybe Overshown or Collins (assuming they've responded to developmental coaching) As mentioned, Sark needs to turn over the roster. Thompson was sucking last night and Sark HAD to sub Card in. By doing so, he showed everyone that Texas indeed has zero competent QBs. With the exception of RB, he needs to do that everywhere. All jobs are open. No positions are guaranteed. The loss last night was rough, but it was not Strong/Arkansas rough. I still think we need to give it time.
  3. Looks like Sark's Cleve (or Jeff's lawyer) has been deployed. Some of the tweets have been deleted. A fairly thorough summary, so far: https://fansided.com/2021/11/01/texas-football-coach-pet-monkey-attacks-kid-trick-treating/
  4. Both Baylor and MSU took advantage of transfers for 2021. https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/baylor/90107 https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/michigan-state/91142 Baylor has 8 transfers on the roster. 4 starters. MSU has 19 transfers on the roster. 7 starters.
  5. No. He was a decommit from Michigan.
  6. 2020 Michigan State under Mel Tucker. LOSS 38-27 Rutgers - MSU never led WIN 27-24 over #13 Michigan - Tied 17-17 in mid-3; Led 27-17 with 5:11 left LOSS 49-7 Iowa - never led LOSS 24-0 Indiana - never led WIN 29-20 over #8 Northwestern - down 20-17 heading into the 4th LOSS 52-12 to tOSU - never led LOSS 39-24 to Penn State - led 24-18 with 2:00 left in 3rd They only blew 1 lead that resulted in a loss - to unranked Penn State.
  7. Dude should have had his team prepared to whip a team w/ a pulse. Beating Texas right now should be an expectation, not a springboard to USC, Penn State, LSU, or wherever else his agent thinks he should go. Losses to Iowa, Baylor, and WVU with a upper-class laden team will not exactly portend success elsewhere. He might have waited a year too long.
  8. Thanks for the input. What about 2x6 cedar? Probably similar care to PT pine, but would have to do it more frequently
  9. Thanks. Aside from composite and pressure treated pine, what would you (or anyone else) recommend for deck material?
  10. I am going to resurrect this topic as I have a similar "issue." Small deck on a lake-area condo needs replaced. One deck company will only use pressure treated pine for the deck material. My thoughts: Will have to wait about 6 months to paint (wood needs to dry) Unpredictable behavior during that 6 months Family and animals will "touch" the arsenic-laden deck for the drying period I see how pressure treated is good for the support structure. Thoughts?
  11. Thanks and I agree. However, I continue to be surprised at how many folks opt in on these things. Of course, DT automatically adds them in on evert transaction (you have to ask to remove). In my experience, the cost of a tire replacement is not the most annoying part about a flat. It's the inconvenience of changing the tire and then having to go deal with the tire folks. Not to mention the risks incurred by having to change the tire near passing cars - w/ or w/o roadside assistance.
  12. Thanks to everyone (especially @Wulaw Horn) for all the really good advice. We ended up eating at ninfas and using the shuttle. Man, what an awesome experience.
  13. @StassneyHorn - Rough crowd...
  14. Reserved a table at Ninfa's for 4pm. Seems kinda early for a 7p game, but what the hell? That's the latest available reservation at this time.
  15. Thanks - should have looked there first. Appreciate the info!
  16. Driving in from Austin to see tonight's game. As I mentioned to @Wulaw Horn privately yesterday, I have not been to an Astros game since they played the Dave Parker and Willie Stargell era Pirates in the Astrodome. What do folks recommend for parking near the stadium. Heading north afterward, so I was thinking of stopping at Baileson (near Rice campus) beforehand, but it seems I'll just have to drive some more. So, Flying Saucer or Craft Beer Cellar might be better logistical options. Thinking of having 1-2 craft brews at a reasonable price before heading in to the stadium for $47 bud lights. I welcome the wisdom/experience of folks here. Thanks!
  17. On stubhub, so-so tickets (not @TKthunder2 tickets) are gong for $17 on stubhub. I suspect sparse attendance; you and your family will be able to sit just about anywhere. $17 + fees allows you to tell them, "Got tickets"
  18. 19 EDIT - doh! Replied w/o looking for the next page of posts
  19. Obvious (maybe) DT question. They offer to sell you certificates for the tires. In my experience the certificates work out to around 15-20% of the price of a tire. Years ago, I always bought them, but have never had to use them. These days, I just pass. None of my driving is offroad. Basically, it's insurance that would require me to have 1 replacement for every 5-6 tires I buy. Seems obvious to pass, esp. for someone who only drives "normal" roads. Thoughts?
  20. My oldest was vacationing in Boston this week and went to the game last night. Said the experience was fantastic. No obstructed view Wife's maternal grandfather was in the construction industry in the Boston area after he returned from WW2. One of his roles: bagman to motivate the city inspectors. The financial incentives were initially for scheduling preference, but evolved over time undoubtedly. /csb
  21. I understand that one. I was on a panel for an insurance issue. During voir dire, the insurance company's lawyer asked something like, "Do you believe that if the plaintiff believes he is entitled to the entire award that he should get the entire award?" I asked her to repeat it. I said that there are multiple questions here. First, if the plaintiff does not believe he is entitled to the award he is requesting, why is his attorney asking for said award? Second, no one here knows enough about the case to answer that with any level of confidence. I was stricken from the pool, of course. However, the jury panel was a disaster. Two people could barely put together a sentence. IMO, settling out of court was a better path - for both sides. Risk mitigation and all. I am convinced that I would have been selected if I had just kept quiet.
  22. If you are going to spend $25k on a car - and hope for it to last - I'd still be biased toward a used member of the Toyota family. It will last more than 6 years and you will not have to deal with Hyundai. While these cars have improved vastly over the past decade, I'd rather have my kid in a used Lexus 350 (as noted earlier) than a new Elantra.
  23. And if they did, would they be enrolled at ETSU?
  24. Also consider Lexus. It's Toyota, of course, and may actually be less expensive than a Toyota. In my experience it was. For my oldest, we bought an inexpensive 15 year old Camry. It needed a bit of work, which was relatively inexpensive. The downside is that 15 year old Texas cars do have items that start to deteriorate (plastic, rubber, etc.), so there was the occasional stall, etc. that started to worry me. After someone rear-ended the car, we went a little more upscale, primarily for the added safety features and the lower likelihood of mechanical failure. But, we stayed in the Toyota space. This was around 3-5 years ago and things have definitely changed, but we found that a 6-8 year old Lexus RX350 was less expensive than a Highlander of similar vintage (around $14k-16k). We dealt with the local Lexus dealer and got a single-owner RX350; bought at the dealership and traded in; and EVERY maintenance activity and repair had been done at the dealer. Vehicles of this ilk are not that rare, actually. Plus, they are not beat to hell, in general.
  25. Quoting works. More options than Hookem. Thanks @immamac
