  1. CJ Vogel Texas' Roster Release + Week 1 of Practice The Texas Football 2025 Spring roster has been updated, creating one of my favorite days of the year when I can sit and scroll down the website while observing weight gains, number changes and acclimating my brain with the early enrollees. A few nuggets, I wanted to share from the roster update that I have yet to mention elsewhere. – CB Wardell Mack ran with the first team at STAR on Tuesday. Is that a surprise? Perhaps. But to see Mack listed at 212 pounds on the roster update is a tremendous sign for his ability to play near the LOS. – On the flipside, CB Manny Muhammad is listed at 178 pounds, down quite a bit from his listing on the fall 2024 roster at 190. – I was shocked to see RB CJ Baxter listed at 230 pounds. I wonder if that will be amended by the fall or if that is truly what weight he is at currently. – I have noticed Texas likes its linebackers in one of two molds. A bigger body that pushes close to 240 pounds, and a leaner body that closes in around twenty pounds lighter. Anthony Hill Jr. | 6–3, 237 Brad Spence | 6–2, 238 Bo Barnes | 6–1, 246 Group two. Liona Lefau | 6–1, 218 Ty'Anthony Smith | 6–1, 220 Jonathan Cunningham | 6–2, 190 Worth mentioning that Trey Moore is listed as a LB, not an EDGE. He is listed at 6–3 and 246 pounds. – RB Quintrevion Wisner is listed at 194 pounds, though I remember Tashard Choice telling reporters in Atlanta in December that Wisner was playing at 202 pounds. I was hoping to see a number closer to 210, but perhaps that will come in the summer months. – Lightest Players on the Team 163 – Aaron Butler 176 – Santana Wilson 178 – Malik Muhammad 178 – Daylan McCutcheon 179 – Caleb Chester 182 – KJ Lacey – Heaviest Players on the Team: 365 – Josiah Sharma 353 – Nick Brooks 352 – Cole Brevard 352 – Connor Stroh 350 – Travis Shaw *** Comparison of 2024 DL to Projected 2025 DL From a pure mass perspective, I don't think Texas will be hurting when it comes to bodies on the interior of the defensive line. Now, mass does not correlate to good play nor production, but it is worth pointing out how large the Texas defensive line is. 2024 Group – Alfred Collins, Vernon Broughton, Jermayne Lole, Bill Norton, Alex January Average weight of 318 pounds. Average height of 6'4.6" 2025 Group – Cole Brevard, Travis Shaw, Alex January, Hero Kanu Average weight of 332 Average height of 6'4.5" That of course does not include 365-pound Josiah Sharma and 327-pound Myron Charles. Good to see 317 pounds listed next to MelvinHills III as well. As for the interior of the Offensive Line: 2024 Group – Hayden Conner (314 at Combine), Jake Majors (305 at Combine), DJ Campbell (330) ... average weight of 316.67 2025 Group – Neto Umeozulu (327), Cole Hutson (315), DJ Campbell (322)... average weight of 321.33 *** A spring ball nugget. – EDGE Colton Vasek is out of a sling. His status to get back on the field this spring remains up in the air, but a step forward in his recovery. – Freshman DL Justus Terry battled a strained hamstring on day one, the reason for his limitation in practice.
  2. With a QB who isn't a statue and has mobility even if run game is the same we are better off. Having to run an offense that can't stretch the field made it so much easier on defenses in stopping our run last season. You saw it most games where defenses didn't respect us deep.
  3. Gerry said the player meetings are currently ongoing and he expects more players to enter the portal from Texas.
  4. Don't expect to hear much until summer/call camp on Baxter. His injury was worse than Clark's.
  5. This reminds me of all the preseason publications that hype up Team X returning 19 of 22 starters and hyping them for it while failing to mention that 19 of those 22 guys were only good enough to go 6-7.
  6. Gerry Hamilton One of the nation's best visiting in early April According to a source on the West Coast, 4-star++ safety Jett Washington (Las Vegas, Nv./Bishop Gorman) is scheduled to make his first unofficial visit to Texas in early April. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound football and basketball standout will be playing in a 7v7 tournament in Dallas April 4-6, and is scheduled to make his way to Austin to visit Texas unofficially after the conclusion of the tournament. The nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant has more than 30 offers, including the Longhorns. The SEC offers are Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri. Also on the offer list is Oregon, USC, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Colorado. Area recruiter Johnny Nansen was by the school in January, and the Longhorns are all in on the recruitment of Washington. Washington posted 38 tackles and 5 interceptions as a junior, after posting 37 tackles and 2 picks as a sophomore. https://247sports.com/player/jett-washington-46135622/
  7. "Campbell told reporters “there were a lot of people at the combine who had messed up measurements” and that led him to get measured again at school." Yeah i'm sure the people at the combine are who messed up.
  8. I still think with all the people we have in San Antonio we definitely should do a Surly watch party this fall for a game.
  9. How many titles has AAU style won? Looking at last 10 years no team with that style has won.
  10. Can't see him waiving his no trade clause to go to browns
  11. I don't think there is a single team this season that returns pretty much everyone from the previous year similar to how Ohio St and Michigan did the prior two years. Seems like everyone heading into the season has question marks at various spots on their rosters/depth charts.
  12. She's a great shooter but I don't think she's close to a distributor as Clark is.
  13. It means don't call me, I'll call you.
  14. Fuck all the old guard. Tear the bitch down to the studs and start fresh.
  15. Good reference for roster numbers with us being 4 under the 85 limit.
  16. The OTF meltdown from the members is going to be great considering how hyped and all that was said about Texas landing him up to this point.
  17. No it’s just a wild tweet in general
