Bobby Burton SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said the quiet part out loud yesterday afternoon. The SEC and the general quality of its teams, thereby the strengths of its schedules, are different than every other conference. He even provided media a 7-page document explaining exactly why. Only two of the conferences 16 schools have averaged being outside of the top 50 teams in college football over the past 10 years. Meanwhile, every other conference has at least twice as many, if not three times as many. What’s the net of all of it? While the Big 10 is trying to force the SEC into a 9-game conference schedule, I just don’t think it’s in the cards. The coaches simply don’t want it and the commissioner can’t push it through without guarantees and/or concessions from the College Football Playoff. The Big 10 and Big 12 both play nine game conference schedules while the ACC and SEC play eight conference games. Unless there is a fundamental change in thinking between now and the first of December, I don’t see the SEC going to a 9-game conference schedule next year. As a result, I’m not sure if the CFP will expand beyond 12 teams for next season either.

It's not even revisionist, she's their best hitter and already hit a homerun earlier in the game. Why the fuck would you even pitch to her needing only 1 out and up 2 runs.

You 100% walk that specific batter with 2 outs.

Should have walked that batter.

315 sounds like an ESPN2 or SECN start time -
batter has to attempt to get contact there and not just look at the pitch with a runner stealing

Bobby Burton Texas AD Chris Del Conte met briefly with a small group of reporters here in the lobby of the Hilton Sandestin. Some notes: - Wants one football portal in January. Says that other sports could easily have a different portal window. For example, basketball needs to come in the spring after the season. - "I'm all in on more home games" as it relates to college football expansion. Cited his first-hand experience with the Clemson game last season as well as travel fatigue of fans after having to go to Atlanta twice and Dallas once more during the holiday season. - Feels like "strength of schedule metrics" need to play a greater role in college football playoff selection process. Cited the NCAA mens and women's basketball tournaments and the college baseball and softball tournaments as relying heavily on strength of schedule and the relative success of the SEC in those. Says current football playoff committee seems too subjective by comparison. - Del Conte is in favor of expanding the field from 12. - Del Conte is also in favor of expanding SEC schedule to 9 games, regardless of whether there is a change in the CFP. He wants the 9 game SEC schedule so that he is guaranteed at least four SEC home games every year. - Said that the ADs did not arrive at a consensus on CFP format and that was not "the goal" of the meetings today. - Waiting patiently on the approval of the House Settlement. Seems to have some confidence that is will be passed. - CDC refuted the $40mm NIL figure put forth for the Texas football team by Kirk Bohls. But CDC would not say the amount. CDC said there was some double-counting in Bohls' figures. - CDC says he wants to continue to schedule at least one major out of conference game per year, the likes of which are Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Ohio State. "Our fans want to see great games." - CDC feels very confident that, no matter of there is a 8- or 9-game schedule, that Texas will continue to play Oklahoma and Texas A&M on an annual basis.

This is the answer, we could weld two T-post together and double the height since after all it is college baseball.

Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us

Bobby Burton One last thought from Destin: A year ago during these meetings, Texas felt somewhat like an SEC outcast, a program on the periphery. This week, there was none of that. Texas was front and center as much as any program. The SEC has embraced Texas and the success of Texas as a conference member. Yes, there may be some who are smarting about it (Aggies will always be Aggies). But the general feel is “welcome to the club”.- 3033 replies

Bobby Burton Most of the national college football news made yesterday did not originate from the SEC meetings. Rather, it came from reactions to the SEC meetings by the brass at the Big 12 and Big 10. The Big 12 announced it is in favor of a 5-11 CFP format. That means just five conference champions would receive automatic bids to a 16-team college football playoff. The Big 10, meanwhile, said they were not in favor of the 5-11 format unless the SEC adds a ninth conference game. What was SEC commissioner Greg Sankey’s response to all the hubbub? Essentially, he said we don’t tell other conferences what to do, so why should any one presume they can tell us. And he’s right. The SEC is not going to be brought to heel by the Big 10, the Big 12 or whoever. If worse comes to worse, we’ll just have a 12-team playoff for the next five years instead of expansion. My sense is that there are a lot of conferences over-playing their hand. While the outside world may disagree with me, I don’t believe the SEC is one of them. From what I witnessed in Destin this week, the SEC and Greg Sankey are only going to make decisions that protect and cement the SEC as the nation’s premier athletic conference. There’s absolutely no reason to risk doing otherwise.

Gerry Hamilton Thursday Recruiting Notes The Texas staff will be back in the office today and tomorrow as they get ready for a hectic month of June. OTF delivers some recruiting notes to begin the day. Xavier Griffin ... There are clearly two programs that have confidence in the recruitment of 5-star LB Xavier Griffin (Gainesville, Ga./High). That is Texas and Alabama. OTF spoke with a source close to the recruitment Wednesday night, and the source believes Texas remains in a very good spot headed into June OV's. Texas had a tremendous April UOV, and in-home visit in May. OTF does believe Texas leads headed into OV's. But as we will continue to say, the majority of recruitments remain in the balance headed into June. Staying in the state of Georgia ... Texas is very much in the mix for 4-star+ defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright (Buford, Ga./High). There are family connections to the Clemson staff, which is the concern for the Longhorns. Even with that said, there is some confidence on the side of Texas. Texas A&M is the third school in serious contention headed into June. Miami and Auburn round out the OV list. Samari Matthews ... The Tar Heel State 4-star++ cornerback is considered a Texas lean headed into June OV's. Two weeks ago, the thought from a source close was Texas led Clemson. Matthews has now dropped Clemson (they have four DB commits already), and will make an OV to Miami this weekend instead. We shall see if Miami can make the major move this weekend to provide competition for the Longhorns. South Carolina and FSU remain on the June OV list. Dre Quinn ... Texas remains confident in the recruitment of 4-star+ EDGE Dre Quinn (Norcross, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian). With that being said, Quinn's recruitment is a real battle with Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia and Tennessee. The April visit is said to be the best for the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder and his family. Mark Bowman ... Texas fully understands the battle for 5-star tight end Mark Bowman (Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei). With that said, there is some quiet confidence headed into June. Also at tight end, Texas has quiet confidence in the recruitment of 4-star++ Heze Kent (Brunswick, Ga./High). Florida and Miami are set to take their best shot the next two weekends. K.J. Edwards ... Confidence remains in the recruitment of 4-star+ running back K.J. Edwards (Carthage, Texas/High) headed into June. The June OV's are LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M and Texas.

You are the biggest fucking moron here.

Two time ranked #1, multiple top 10 finishes, meanwhile other places have closed down, not even listed, etc. Continue being a complete fucking moron. Consistency over 2 decades is unmatched, well it goes back even further honestly. You're mad you have a shit opinion and get called out for it. Kind of crazy that for as bad as it is that it's been ranked higher and achieved more than places you've mentioned. Even as short as 4 years ago.

2008 #1 2013 #2 2017 #1 2021 #9 Tootsie - James Beard Semi-Finalist So in the past 20ish years only 3 spots have achieved Rank 1 other than Snows and those spots are Goldees, Burnt Bean, and Franklin. So go on with your complete dog shit opinion you stupid mother fucker. Which in 2021 they were ranked ahead of most of the places you listed. Who knows their actual ranking now but I'd bet it's ahead of most of the places you also listed.
