It has become a trend each year to wonder around this time of the year, when the Texas class will begin to heat up.
Recruiting is fun, but there are spurts throughout the year where it certainly feels like you are crawling through a school zone in terms of excitement and momentum. The Texas staff is no stranger to that over the last four cycles as well. The monotonous day to day of the winter and spring seasons leads to some fireworks at the turn of July seemingly every year.
It has become the blueprint for recruiting classes that have ended in the top five in each of the previous four cycles.
As the official visit circus of June inches closer, I wanted to go cycle by cycle to see two things – Where Texas sat from a commitment perspective at this point in the cycle and where they ended up after, let's say July 31.

2022 Class
Final Ranking: 5th
Total Commitments: 28
Commitments at May 8: 5
RB Jaydon Blue, QB Maalik Murphy and DB BJ Allen Jr. all committed in February of 2021 with DL Kris Ross and Zac Swanson joining the class ahead of the month of June.
Commitments at July 31: 11
The class size doubled with a pair of specialists, then Cole Hutson and Connor Robertson both committing on July 2. LB Derrick Brown and DB Austin Jordan both made their decisions prior to the end of July.
The 2022 class is the one exception to the rule with 11 of the 28 commitments making announcements after Thanksgiving. Texas finishes strong, but this is the heaviest amount of movement we have seen in the back end of the cycle.

2023 Class
Final Ranking: 3rd
Total Commitments: 25
Commitments at May 8: 5
Only LB S'Maje Burrell, RB Tre Wisner, and WR Ryan Niblett had made decisions prior to the month of May.
Texas did have verbal pledges from DB Jamel Johnson (TCU) and EDGE Dylan Spencer (Texas Tech) at the time, though neither made it through the conclusion of the cycle.
Commitments at July 31: 17
The news of Arch Manning committing on June 23, 2022 ignited quite the run for the Longhorns. In the week after Arch's commitment, Texas had gained eight verbal pledges and by the end of the July, 70% of the players that had signed with Texas were in the fold.

2024 Class
Final Ranking: 5th
Total Commitments: 22
Commitments at May 8: 3
Texas only had three commitments at the time entering June. QB Trey Owens, ATH Hunter Modden (decommitted) and P Michael Kern made up the entire class at the time.
Commitments at July 31: 15
Six commitments to wrap up the month of June, then three verbal pledges on July 1st – WR Parker Livingstone, DL Alex January and DB Jordon Johnson-Rubell. One verbal pledge in July did not sign, that would be ATH Aeryn Hampton.
Big wins in the OV month of June included Santana Wilson, Christian Clark and Jerrick Gibson.

2025 Class
Final Ranking: 1st
Total Commitments: 25
Commitments at May 8: 4
Commits in the class included QB KJ Lacey, TE Emaree Winston, EDGE Lance Jackson, RB Rickey Stewart and LB Bo Barnes. Plus, the eventual decommitment DL Brandon Brown.
Commitments at June 31: 16
Brown had decommitted by the end of July, but Texas was rolling with 16 verbal pledges in the class at the time the calendar flipped to August. The Coleman triplets and James Simon committed at the end of May, Texas won out for John Mills and Caleb Chester in June, then the Longhorns went on a run in July with Kade Phillips, Jonathan Cunningham, Nick Townsend and Josiah Sharm flipping from Oregon.

Texas sits with commitments from QB Dia Bell, WR Chris Stewart, OL Nicolas Robertson, OL Max Wright and LS Trott O'Neal.
You can expect the next 60 days to be action packed with commitments with the Longhorns currently expecting 46 official visitors on campus in the month of June.
