This reminds me of the last known footage of Hitler where he came out of the Fuhrerbunker just long enough to hang some Iron Crosses on children and old men before going back down to off himself.

Ya know when you think about it, the hitler youth were just a bunch of proud boys

So, is the loss of taste a complete loss of taste or is it more specific?

I recently realized that I lost my taste of salt around 2 months ago. I can barely taste it. Thinking back, I was over-salting dishes frequently when I cooked back then. Since then, I started having my wife taste test my dishes for me. My taste of salt is still greatly diminished. Just had maybe a 1/4 teaspoon of straight salt as a test and I could just barely tell it was salt.

Google now only turns up COVID and I can’t tell if it could’ve been something else.

Protip, change your search to only return results from 2019 and earlier and you be able to filter out the COVID hits

Honestly, If I was Pelosi, I'd give it a few more days, let the votes get certified, and if PA and MI start fucking around with appointing electors, I'd call a press conference and say:

"Either the GOP leaders recognize the election is over, Joe Biden is the president elect, begin an orderly transition, and start having hard conversations with Donald Trump, or we are summarily ending further government funding negotiations.  The House has the power of the purse for the next two years and will use it if we have to. This coup attempt ends right now. "

lol hoping for anything more than a limp wristed, mealy mouth protest before rolling over from the democratic leadership. They claimed that they'd cede power after consolidating in 2018. I'm sure chuck and nancy will continue to shit the bed and roll around in it.

  4. Lol, I think it's reasonable to assume that someone coming in with a name of "HillaryFan420" making facile arguments isn't doing it in good faith. But sure, let's see what future gems we'll get from the sock

I think overall the President has little to do with immediate macroeconomic outcomes.  However, interest rates are one area that clearly has an immediate impact on the labor market and the President has some control in that arena given his ability to appoint the Fed chair.  As stupid as Trump is, he was right about the need to keep interest rates low even as wages began to rise.  This also illustrates how powerful a tool dollar hawkishness is for maintaining inequality.

Your thesis statement is factually incorrect. trump's Fed raised interest rates from Obama's low rates, in concert with the rise in wages. Here's a chart for you:

You realize the Y-axis is the percent increase in wage growth, right?  So those wages were growing at a higher rate for low income workers during Trump's first three years than at any point during Obama's second term.  What you're referring to is the rate of increase in the rate of increase.

And you know that economic policies don't just immediately start showing an impact when they're implemented right? Impact generally lags several years behind policy changes

    Speaking of Williamson County

    https://www.kxan.com/news/local/williamson-county/kalahari-resort-complete-with-worlds-largest-indoor-waterpark-opens-amid-pandemic/

On the one hand, swimming pools seem pretty safe.  On the other hand, this will be packed to the largest capacity they allow, because a shitload of people are probably stir crazy at this point.

TBH, if they just mist their chlorinated water 24/7 and blast artificial UV light that would be a pretty effective disinfectant for the airborne virus.

Still 100% regarded to open an indoor waterpark in the middle of a pandemic, but hey it's not like we've been making good decisions so far anyways right?

  8. 7 killed, including 5 Americans, in helicopter crash involving peacekeeping force in Egypt

    Quote

Washington (CNN)Seven military members of a peacekeeping force in Egypt, including five Americans, were killed when a helicopter crashed in the southern Sinai Peninsula, the coalition force announced Thursday.

One American survived the crash, which happened in the vicinity of Sharm el-Sheikh, the coalition said in a statement. The names of those involved are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The coalition force said "there is no information to indicate the crash was anything except an accident" and that an investigation was underway to determine the cause.

The peacekeeping force, known as the Multinational Force and Observers, oversees the peace agreement reached between Egypt and Israel as part of the Camp David Accords of 1978.

Also killed were one French and one Czech national, the coalition said.

A US official could not say immediately if the craft was a US helicopter, and the Trump administration is working to confirm details.

IMO, this is a chickenshit move. That guy isn't a well-known figure and this is just manufacturing a "gotcha". Republicans do enough embarrassing shit on their own, and it only feeds their victim complex to do stuff like this.

That said, our acting director of national intelligence should know better to not get dunked on on twitter

... for "exploration", it's not there yet.  It might be one day, but not yet.  I think Falcon Heavy is getting close to the capacity -- but not yet.

What's your take on Starship? It's still in development but they're building and flying test units with a commercial flight scheduled for 2021. And it's designed to use falcon cores as boosters

    https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/should-firefighters-have-let-house-burn/

dude didn't live in the city.  maybe the county should have fire services for people who don't live in the city, but the population might be too disperse to make that very effective to begin with.  if the county took over fire service from the cities in it that would probably fix the problem.

The fact that they drove all the way out there just to watch his house burn is a civil failure. It wasn't a matter of resources or ability to service the area, it was making a point that people should pay their protection fees or else it will happen to them.

Which in a brutally free-market sense, is completely fair. But then don't call yourself a first responder or a civil servant. Firefighting, much like healthcare, should not be a for-profit enterprise. It will inevitably lead to abuses like this one, and insurance companies giving exactly enough care to get the next paycheck from their victims, but never enough to actually improve their health outcomes.
