Saguaro talk not going away . . .
One reason I have for optimism about this game is that tOSU has developed their recent “juggernaut” reputation by blowing out two teams straight from the jump and coasting from there. They went up 21-0 on Tennessee in the 1st quarter and were up on Oregon 34-0 with 8 minutes left in the half. Texas, for all its faults putting teams away, typically gets off to good starts in games. Our defense can get worn down in the 4th quarter due to lack of support from the offense (ASU game) or give up points early when the offense turns it over and repeatedly gives up short fields to the other team (1st UGA game), but no team has just marched up and down the field on this defense in the first half all season.
We have to get production from the offense in the first half and not turn it over, but if we do, it should be a game going into the 2nd half, and then things should get real interesting. There’s a reason the spread is 6 points and not 12-14 like the talking heads seem to see this game.
