@Hank Kingsley and i were at paradise on 6th street in 1997 or so, and he said, "i know this is weird, but i swear that's brian helgeland sitting at that table over there."

he's pretty good at that game, so i trusted him enough to get us to go over and chat him up.  after his shock that anyone recognized a writer sitting in a bar, he said, "well, if you're interested in meeting me, you gotta meet andy walker" and he pointed to a sketchy looking dude sitting across from him (along with two not-cute chicks).  i have no idea what our short conversation was about, but at the time, those were 2 of the hottest screenwriters in the business and we were very excited about it.

sucks he's done pretty much nothing else since or before this.

Damn, haven't thought about that night in a while. When we met them I believe 8mm was Andrew Kevin Walker's next film. And I'm pretty sure Helgeland was just coming off of L.A. Confidential. .

Go read Pete's healthcare plans, there is NOTHING about how to generate the additional necessary revenue. Nothing.

Pete’s Medicare for All Who Want It plan will cost about $1.5 trillion over 10 years. It will be paid for by rolling back the Trump corporate tax cuts, which will generate $1.4 trillion in revenue, and the rest from cost savings that result from empowering the federal government to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies.

  3. The biggest mistake in Warren's M4A plan is that she specifically crafted it to avoid a middle class tax hike. She wanted to protect herself after being evasive on the middle class tax question that she was asked repeatedly.

If you have to lecture your supporters on how to interact with POC on Twitter then that alone says something.

A lot of campaigns should probably lecture their supporters on how to interact on Twitter. At least one is trying to do something about it.

Always glad we have Hank to keep us all super informed bc of our idiot non-Pete supporting shortcomings.

The Twitter animal fascinates and horrifies me.

  6. It's interesting, over the last 4-5 months the main group of supporters that were trolling Pete threads were Beto people. It was a very small but vocal group that shit posted on all things Buttigieg related.

Now that Beto's dropped out, starting to see a lot of Kamala supporters on the attack. In general Pete supporters don't go after other candidates, but they passionately defend him.

But now these little Twitter fights now involve race and homophobia talk which could get REAL ugly really quickly. Smart of them to step in and try to shut it down.

Pete and his team blaming his lack of Black support on him being gay definitely isn’t helping him with Blacks.

    That. Ain’t. It. Chief.

Did not realize Boy George was on Buttigieg's staff. Lol.

  8. It's funny that everyone on Twitter that's so politically involved are like "WHY HASN'T BUTTIGIEG FIGURED X OUT YET?".  The dude is a top 4 candidate in November with a real chance (at least right now) of winning Iowa. The fact that we can say that is almost a political miracle.  He had what, maybe 1% name recognition 8 months ago?

A mayor from Indiana is struggling with the black vote right now? Who would have thought? What are Booker and Kamala's excuses?

Pete won't win the nomination without POC support. He knows it, he's working on it, we'll see what happens.

Non-white Democratic voters favorable/unfavorable (most recent CNN poll)
    Biden - 75-19
    Bernie - 78-18
    Warren - 63-15
    Pete - 35-12

Well, there we go. Most POC don't really even know who Buttigieg is yet.

  10. Beto's organization and strategy for the D primary was a mess from the start. Looking back on it now, it's almost like the Senate race just (understandably) gassed him. He put so much energy into that and was almost in a no-win situation when he decided to run for President. Americans just weren't ready to jump in on a guy that lost a very public race to Ted Cruz, even if it was a historic and generally successful campaign for Texas Dems.

Beto post-El Paso really seemed to find a sense of purpose. If he truly doesn't run for elected office again, I hope he keeps up the activism and stays in the public spotlight. He's a good man that can create positive change.

  11. The big thing about that Iowa poll is it amplifies the narrative that Joe can't/won't win the primary.

All the cable news shows will continue to talk about how much trouble he's in. Biden's "base" is gonna bail. Hell, it's already happening.

  12. Here's all the data from that CNN New Hampshire poll: https://scholars.unh.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1567&context=survey_center_polls

One thing that just caught my attention:

Of the current Buttigieg voters, 19% of them have Bernie as their second choice.

Of the current Bernie voters, ZERO percent of them have Buttigieg as their second choice.

LMAO. Progressive media journalists have killed Pete for months. Looks like it's working in NH with Bernie voters.
