  1. Who else could be coming now? I don’t follow recruiting as closely as I used to.
  2. What if you change the order? What does that do for immunity? (Double Moderna as of early April and breakthrough infection as of Thursday/Friday. Only one day of fever/chills/aches followed by no taste and smell. Feel great other than still missing taste/smell.)
  3. Moderna second shot 4/9 and no idea about antibody levels. Felt tired Wednesday, but figured it was from staying up and having a couple of beers during Astros game. Felt “off” Thursday, but no fever. So I wore a mask and went to work. That night I spiked a temperature of about 102. Tylenol/ibuprofen kept it under control as I stayed home Friday with fever, chills, and body aches (felt just like I felt after second Moderna shot, but didn’t think about it next day). Anyway, fever broke and chills body aches went away Friday night so I figured must have had a little bug. Woke up Saturday feeling normal until my wife tells me she used too much bleach cleaning in the morning and couldn’t get smell out of her hands. I couldn’t smell it. I couldn’t smell anything. About an hour later I couldn’t taste anything other than being able to distinguish between salt and sweet. Still felt great, but took an at home test. It was quickly positive (rest of family tested negative). I still feel fine now other than taste/smell stuff. Without the taste/smell stuff, I probably wouldn’t have tested because the symptoms came and went so quickly. I’m a teacher in a rural district with an anti-mask school board. So I’m sure I picked it up from one of my students. But luckily, they also took away paid covid time when they took away the masks so I get to use my own days off while I quarantine the rest of the week. But the shot did its job I guess. I feel fine. Only had one day of symptoms so far. And never had any breathing/chest stuff. Sucks to not be able to taste/smell and to lose a week of classroom time as well as use my days. But it is what it is. Here’s to hoping no one in the family gets it and I remain fever symptom free (other than taste/smell).
  4. Yep. Waiting for daughter to get out of piano lessons. Was watching Directv app, but then 2 Red Sox got on. Switched back to radio and all is right in the world again other than the stress.
  5. One downed tree limb. Bunch of leaves. Bent pole on trampoline netting. No power since 8 last night (basically the whole town is without power). But it’s been pleasant outside hanging out with the kids all day. House hasn’t gotten warmer than we usually keep it during the day anyway. Gonna put some meat on the pit in a little while. No generator, but hasn’t been bad given that power has been out for the last 18 hours. I also have been going around turning on lights out of habit and feeling dumb when I do go inside. I was more worried about flooding rather than wind and power outage, but storm moved just enough late to keep a lot of the rain away, but bring more wind.
  6. My district (small rural) has no mask mandates and a low vaccination rate. They also have said all close contact teachers have to take 10 of their own days to quarantine or get tested every other day for 10 days. I’m vaccinated and have been wearing a mask, but neither of those things matter for the protocols listed above. I’m a close contact as of today. Yay!
  7. This describes my reaction to the 2nd shot of Moderna in April. Didn’t check heart rate and had fever and flu like symptoms the entire next day. Wife was fine other than my shivering waking her up that night. October/November booster should be fun.
  8. Yep. I knew son was gonna be up and with us. But it was bad enough to get daughter freaked out which rarely happens. Gonna need a quick lunch nap today.
  9. I’ve been noticing this a lot when we go out in rural Texas where we live (since Abbot rescinded mask order). People are big mad that we are wearing masks when “we don’t have to”. Lots of cursing and complaining just loud enough for us to hear. It’s strange and funny and sad at the same time.
  10. Wife and I had our second Moderna shots around 11:30 this morning. First shots resulted in sore arms for both of us and a rash a few days later for wife. All the adults in our family circle have now had two shots of Moderna.
  11. Falling apart and not playing like we have size advantage. Every Big 12 team has won. WTF.
  12. I was able to schedule my wife’s parents for Moderna, and they got the shot on Saturday. Got sister in law’s husband scheduled a couple of days ago, and he got his Moderna shot an hour ago.
  13. He was able to get his shot and no one asked for proof despite email from Walmart saying to bring it.
  14. Question for the group: does Walmart in Texas really require proof of eligibility? I got my wife’s parents signed up at cvs and they didn’t check. Could only get brother in law signed up at Walmart. He’s over 30 BMI, but does he need to get a doctor’s note? 5-6, over 210 so pretty obvious.
  15. First shots in arms of me and my wife. 3 minutes left of the watch period and back to work.
  16. This. As soon as he made the announcement I started looking at ways to jump the line for me, my wife, and her parents who are just shy of 65. Hadn’t even thought about it before. Then our school district secured vaccines for teachers and staff so we are going to get our shots today without jumping. I got her parents in for Saturday at cvs. Mom is technically obese and dad is chronic smoker; so I figured what the hell. Feeing less guilty because by Monday it’s not line jumping because they are both 60+. But I would have line jumped us all after the mask mandate was rescinded.
  17. Yep. I had started spending way too much time in Cloak Room where I can’t even post. This thread has broken me of that habit. It’s been great for my mental well being.
