  2. VIP NOTES: HOW DOES A&M CLOSE 2019, WHO WILL JOIN IN 2020? Flagging off Quote Reply Quote Brian Perroni 69611 posts 14 minutes agoVIP -Starting with the few remaining spots in the class of 2019. I have heard a few people wondering about Katy Seven Lakes edge rusher David Ugwoegbu and where he stood in the A&M pecking order. He is an absolute take for the Aggies and will remain that way. Ugwoegbu has parents that won’t let him miss his part-time job for any reason and that keeps him from making many trips anywhere, not just to A&M. He still wants to officially visit Alabama and Oklahoma as well, though the Tide may not bring him in. However, I still feel very good about where the Aggies stand with him and I believe he will part of the class when prospects put ink to paper in the Early Signing Period. -The other big defensive line target is Katy Mayde Creek’s Marcus Stripling, who could end up in a number of roles along the line at the next level. Like Ugwoegbu, Stripling is also high on both Alabama and Oklahoma in addition to A&M. With him, though, the Tide have supplanted the Sooners as the main threat to the Aggies. Stripling has long said he wanted to take his official visits but, for a time, it looked like he was going to shut things down early, and that would have been good news for the Aggies. However, he is back in the mode of wanting to take the officials and fully experience a process he will only get to go through once in his life. Alabama could definitely makes things interesting if/when he makes it to campus, but A&M has built a very good relationship with him and he is also very close with most of the Aggie commits. I’m not quite to the same confidence level as I am on Ugwoegbu, but I still believe Stripling will sign with A&M as well. -Though he was briefly off his team, Houston North Forest four-star offensive tackle and Texas commit Javonne Shepherd has his situation resolved and is back in good standing. With them playing Navasota on Saturday evening, he had to postpone his official visit to Aggieland that had been set for this coming weekend. Shepherd now says he is hoping to make it for one of A&M’s final home game weekends. With three road games and a bye, it will at least be another month until then, though. Any of the final three game weekends should work out with his schedule. I still believe there’s a strong chance he flips, but it is by no means a done deal, and never has been. I thought he would have decommitted by now after talking to some people after the Clemson game, so him still being a Longhorn pledge is good news for Texas. I still feel like my Crystal Ball flip pick will prove correct in the end, though. Also, though there have been talks about his teammate and class of 2020 five-star A&M receiver commit Demond Demas potentially heading to a different high school, I expect him to be suited out on Saturday as well and face off against fellow A&M 2020 commit Jordan Jefferson. Demas is a guy A&M will have to continually recruit until he signs but it is definitely better to have him in the fold than not. -A&M wants another tight end in the class in addition to Baylor Cupp and Dickinson’s Jalen Wydermyer is the only target. He has long been very high on A&M and, after the Clemson game with his parents in attendance, he can be considered a very strong lean to the Aggies. Wydermyer wants to take his long-planned official visit to Miami on Dickinson’s bye week, which will be Nov. 3. While you never want to discount what can happen when a school gets a player on campus, A&M feels good about him and I think there’s a chance he shuts it down in favor of the Aggies after making that trip to Coral Gables. Dickinson is undefeated and should make a deep playoff run, so other official visits could prove hard to schedule anyway. -As for what A&M would do if all four of those players wanted on board, especially Shepherd, it would be likely that some players at some of those positions might look around. The offensive line numbers are the ones to watch, since there are already four commits. Adrian Medley has at least remained in contact with other schools, so he would one to keep an eye on. -As for the current commits, most of them are solid and plan to sign with A&M in December with no hiccups. A few are at least worth monitoring, though. Linebacker Andre White Jr. went to nearby Penn State this past weekend with his teammates. It was the biggest game in the country that week and he’s a college football fan. It’s not ideal that he made the trip, but he is saying the right things to everybody – not just the media – about still being solid to A&M. He also still has an official visit to use to Aggieland and is set to enroll early. There has been talking that Florida linebacker Tarian Lee might look around, but that has not been the case. I don’t expect him to end up anywhere. There was also talk that wide receiver Kenyon Jackson was at Tennessee two weekends ago. We haven’t confirmed it either way, but the Vols don’t expect to flip him. A bunch of Grayson guys were in Knoxville so, if he was there, it was likely just tagging along with them. A&M expects him to sign. The three cornerbacks still have schools in communication with them, and that is the position A&M needs the most, so you can bet they are monitoring that situation. With Jeffery Carter, Alabama is still trying to get back into it. He is also one saying all the right things. Bobby Wolfe had already used his official visit to Arkansas but the fact he was tentatively set to visit Fayetteville unofficially a few weeks back shows that there is still at least somewhat of interest in other schools. It would not be a shock if he did, or if he didn’t, make another official visit somewhere before all is said and done. I think he will be an Aggie but don’t want you guys to be caught offguard if he does at least trip elsewhere. I don’t even know where it would if he did, though Arizona is one to watch. And I think Erick Young will sign but he at least had some talks with Ohio State. However, the Buckeyes don’t really have room because of the commits they already have or are expected to get at the position in both the 2019 class and 2020 one. He likely would take a visit there if they asked him to, but I don’t think that is going to happen. -Anther guy A&M is still in contact with is Duncanville cornerback Marquez Beason, who made a surprising early commitment to Illinois. After his pledge, he said he still planned to take officials and had one tentatively set to A&M in the spring, but decided against it. Those around him still keep saying to expect him to end up signing with Illini, no matter how odd it may seem, but A&M is not giving up and there is still communication. It wouldn’t be a shock to see an official visit happen at some point, but it’s not a done deal. I believe he would also visit LSU as well, should he be open to the idea of other visits. -A&M is hosting Florida State four-star defensive tackle commit Derick Hunter on an official visit this coming weekend. It is something to monitor, but I wouldn’t expect a flip at the moment. -When it turned out that five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean had a mandatory meeting with the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game this weekend, it caused him to have to call off his official visit to Aggieland. Getting him to reschedule is going to be tough with a limited number of weekends for the early enrollee. He has a visit set to Auburn in two weeks and one tentatively set to LSU in early November. He also will almost assuredly reschedule his Georgia official visit that the two parties both agreed to wait on after it was originally set for this coming weekend. With him having that All-Star game in mid-December, there won’t be a ton of chances for him to use the fifth visit. A&M needs to get him on campus to even have a shot but, even then, it would be considered a long shot. -I’m not sure Louisiana five-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher ever makes the A&M official visit he has talked about. Even if he does, it’s very unlikely he ends up anywhere other than LSU or Alabama. -With the class of 2020, I still expect national top-100 quarterback Malik Hornsby to public announce for the Aggies in the somewhat near future, though the timing is in question at the moment. -As for other potential class of 2020 commits, Fort Bend Austin four-star wide receiver Troy Omeire is a good guess as another Aggie pledge in the near future. Another is Newton four-star defensive end James Sylvester, though a trio of his teammates are committed to TCU, making the Frogs a real threat. -Other players that A&M is in good shape with in the class are Cedar Hill Trinity Christian five-star cornerback Dwight McGlothern, Duncanville four-star safety Chris Thompson Jr., Dallas Bishop Dunne four-star linebacker Brennon Scott and Cibolo Steele cornerback four-star cornerback Jaylon Jones, though Texas has done a good job combating the momentum A&M got with him after the Clemson game. With McGlothern, don’t count out Alabama. However, with him spending so much time on campus in Aggieland, I believe that no matter what happens leading up to it, he will have a hard time not ending up there himself when it comes down to time to sign. -Class of 2021 wide receiver Latrell Neville of Fort Bend Willowridge is a player that really wants an A&M offer. However, there’s a chance he would shut things down on the spot. With A&M having to be pretty selective with receiver offers in all classes going forward, it’s likely they wait to evaluate him lines

  7. 4-star Texas commit Shepherd still plans to visit A&M VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI Houston North Forest four-star offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd committed to Texas over the summer but the 6-foot-6, 335-pound lineman has remained relatively open in his recruiting process since. At one point thought to be a lean to Texas A&M, Shepherd is still in frequent contact with the Aggies. He actually had an official visit tentatively set for the Oct. 6 weekend, but a Saturday game for North Forest has put a wrench in that plan. However, he still plans to make it to Aggieland for an official in the near future. "I haven't set it up yet, so I'm not quite sure," Shepherd said of his new A&M official visit plans. "I'm still definitely planning on visiting, though. I'm hoping I can do it for a game weekend but I'm not sure which one. "I would also like to take ones to Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Texas." Shepherd keeps up with a couple of Aggie coaches in his position coach and that of his Aggie commit teammate, five-star wide receiver Demond Demas. "I've talked to coach Craig, the receiver coach, and coach Turner," he said. "I've talked to them both recently. They're both real cool. We have good talks about Texas A&M." Shepherd was recently in Austin to see the Longhorns take on USC and says it went well. "I didn't make it for the TCU game last weekend," he said, "But I was up there for the USC one. It was really good. It was a big win and that definitely helped them with me." As for what the Aggies would have to do for him to consider changing his commitment, Shepherd says it will be more of a gut feeling than anything. "I haven't been to C-Stat in I don't know how long, a few months now," he said. "I haven't been up there in a long time, so I'm looking forward to getting up there again. I'm going to have to see how everything feels when I get up there Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

  10. Hamm. Wednesday Morning Notes: I’ll start off with the latest on Marcus Stripling The Katy Mayde Creek DE is essentially down to A&M and Alabama with Oklahoma still slightly in the picture. I’m working my sources in Tuscaloosa to see if Strip is a take for The Tide. According to the four-star pass-rusher, A&M told him he has a guaranteed spot when he was on campus for the Clemson game. If that’s truly the case, and I don’t really have a reason not to believe him, it would be my expert opinion that Strip has alerted the staff of his intentions so that his guaranteed spot is secured while he continues to enjoy the recruiting process. I’ve spoken to a number of sources and I’m expecting Javonne Shepherd to be back with North Forest this season. That’s all I’m going into at the moment but I can also add that this news has not impacted the way A&M feels about the Longhorn pledge. If he’s back on the team before the Aggies come back to Kyle Field in October then he may not be at the Kentucky game because North Forest plays that Saturday. If he’s not playing he will be in College Station. He’s been in contact with the staff since all this went down. I spoke to Demond Demas, as well as other sources close to the 5-Star receiver, about his visit yesterday which Aggie Scoop first reported. He mentioned that A&M was “home” and that he’s firmly committed to the Aggies. I’m going to sound redundant here but Demas is going to enjoy the process while he’s committed and that’s something the staff is prepared to handle. They know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to fend off competitors for his services but they are fully capable of pulling it off. Getting Rischad Whitfield back up to College Station with Demas during the week is a perfect example of how much time and effort the staff is putting into this recruitment. Nothing is set in stone just yet but don’t be surprised to see 5-Star DT Ishmael Sopsher on an official visit for the Kentucky game. Sources have shared he’s eyeing that game but again nothing has been solidified. A&M needs to get Jimbo Fisher involved with the recruitment of 2020 DE Vernon Broughton, per sources close to the Elite Cedar Ridge prospect. He has high interest in the Aggies but the head man will need to get with the right people in order to get him back on campus soon.

  13. Hamm from his Facebook group Please Read: I want to address the rumors circulating around myself and Ryan Brauninger over at TexAgs. It’s a bit of a layered issue so stick with me as I provide a very detailed and accurate account. I have to give some background on a few things first before I get to Thursday night but before I do I want to make it very clear that this was not a post I wanted to make. I’ve had a great working relationship with TexAgs for months and I keep in frequent contact with Liucci and Hop. Unfortunately, I have to provide some facts that shouldn’t have to be made public but an attack on my character has been made and details floating out there are flat-out inaccurate. Let me start with explaining my relationship with Brauninger. Like most employees at TexAgs, I feel like he’s had a negative opinion of me from the moment he got in the industry. We’re both very competitive and passionate guys, so I understand the natural rivalry since we are competing for information. There’s also an added grudge that he had towards me that I didn’t learn about until it came to light last Thursday that I’ll get into here shortly. I’m very selective about who I trust in this industry because over my ten years of doing this I’ve been burned a lot, so I keep my circle small. Not to digress into TexAgs’ past with me but it’s worth noting once again that this is a site that had to fire an employee for fabricating quotes from a story I did (Jacob Kristen made up quotes from my story on Wole Betiku), had another employee start the Steven Parker myth (Brice Jones), and have allowed a lot of nasty and personal things said about me on their website over the years. I don’t want to lose track of my purpose here but there’s so much more I’ll eventually go into detail about one day. I just wanted to set the tone about how Brauninger has never tried to form a relationship with me like he has with other analysts because of the reasons above. This summer at the Aggies’ summer camp, I was standing outside the indoor facility with Brian Perroni, who I’m still very close with to this day, when Brauninger walks up. He begins to make small talk with Perroni and I wanted to use that opportunity to extend a handshake and give a peace offering. Perroni can account for what happened next. Brauninger looked at my hand and told me, “I’m not shaking your fucking hand.” I let it go and didn’t think about it again. I did call Hop and Liucci to let them know that I tried to be the bigger man but that I got a disgusting response from Ryan. They said they were going to talk to him but apparently it didn’t work. Fast-forward to week one of TXHSB, when I went to Atascocita vs Katy Taylor. Brauninger was out there as well. After the game, I interviewed Kenyon Green. I was using my phone to interview so my back was turned to what happened next. During my interview, Brauninger is behind me flexing and grabbing his TexAgs shirt and flashing it to Kenyon, essentially trying to distract him. Kenyon did a good job of holding it together for me and finished the questions but it was extremely unprofessional. I didn’t say anything to him and let it go. That gets us to Thursday night when I go to see Demond Demas and Javonne Shepherd. I’m running a few minutes late to the game and I walk in the gates and Branuniger is talking to Mike Craven from the AAS. He’s staring me down as I walk up to the field so I asked him what his problem was and that’s when he began to get in my face and lay into me about what he’d been holding in for a long time. Brauninger graduated from McNeese St. and went to grad school at A&M. While at McNeese, he played baseball with Matt Fontenot, who was brought on by Sumlin to be his director of operations a few years ago. Getting back to Thursday, Brauninger got visibly upset about an open records request that I did over a year ago and let me hear it. Open records requests are not uncommon, reporters do them all the time, and my intention for doing this one had absolutely nothing to do with Fontenot or Brauninger. Fontenot was on the list of people I had on there because I was canvassing the entire athletic department. Apparently, Fontenot had to hand over some sensitive information about his personal life and he told Brauninger. These two are very close. In fact, Brauninger is the Godparent to Matt’s kids. Brauninger laid into me about how Matt didn’t get the same job under Jimbo Fisher and somehow was trying to correlate that my open records request was the reason he didn’t get the same job under a new regime. Back to the game, the Athletic Director saw Brauninger and I on the sideline and asked us to take it outside. We walked out into the parking lot and that’s when cooler heads prevailed. We got in our vehicles and went around the corner and talked it out like adults. We got everything off our chests and then went back and apologized to the athletic director. He accepted our apology and said we’re welcome back any time but tonight we’re sitting this one out. I told Brauninger that we needed to go find a spot and sit down and talk more so we found a local place and had a great talk. We literally left hugging. As far as I'm concerned, Brauninger and I are good. Brauninger was very concerned that he was going to go back to College Station without an interview with Demond Demas. At the time, I was still the only site to have quotes because of my relationship with Rischad Whitfield. I called Rischad Whitfield, who was at the game, and had him make sure Demas called Brauninger that night. He did, and that’s how Ryan was able to get his story out. Typically, they do on-camera interviews, so it backs me up when their story is just quotes. I even gave Ryan Demas’ number to lock in. I wanted to do the right thing after our talk. This ended up being a great thing that needed to happen. Obviously not on the sidelines, and I really couldn’t get out of the way of his approach, but I could have walked away right when it happened. That was a mistake. Brauninger called Liucci to tell him what happened and that’s where things went sideways with TO98. Liucci then called Rush to alert him instead of calling me. Rush reached out to Craven, who is also friends with Brauninger, to corroborate the story. Perroni was there but was on the opposite side of the field. Those were their witnesses. Essentially, the guys I work with took the story third-hand from my competitors, and I never got a chance to defend myself. Nor did they believe me when I tried. They did ask me not to say anything to Brauninger about the Kenyon Green incident, but this was not able to be avoided and I was perfectly capable of smoothing things about with Ryan like an adult which I did. I don’t understand why and probably never will get the full story. Over the past few weeks, Rush has been in frequent contact with Liucci and the CEO of FanReact went to College Station before our launch at TO98 to mend their relationship but didn’t include me. In my opinion, that would have been a great opportunity to sit down with everyone at TexAgs and mend relationships with everyone in their office, especially Ryan. There’s more to this story. FanReact CEO Buckner actually approached TexAgs a while back about white-labeling their product and getting into other college markets. Per Buckner, TexAgs stole their idea and that’s how F5 Productions started that David Sandhop now manages. That’s just one side of the story but that’s all I can offer up. I add that tidbit because my bosses essentially believed a group of people, including my competitors, that they had major issues with, stole their idea from, and wanted to take down, over me. Obviously the incident wasn’t bad enough for TexAgs to fire Brauninger. They are of course going to make sure they back their employees but I didn’t get that same courtesy. Logan Lee actually called Buckner this past week and was trying to spread rumors that I had cost A&M Malik Hornsby. I will absolutely defend Buckner here because he laid into Logan Lee after Malik showed up to our offices later that day to storyboard his commitment video. I had everything under control and I was allowed the exclusive because of my relationships with the people closet Hornsby and we were fronting the costs of the video. Again, more TexAgs meddling. I hold no grudge but there’s a common theme here. There’s been a lot of people who have taken advantage of me during a very vulnerable time in my life. Very personal stuff about my life has been made very public. The picture others have painted about me, mostly done by my competitors and their subscribers, often has me guilty before proven innocent in every situation rumored about me. I’m aware how my past internet persona has perpetuated that but that doesn’t dismiss these facts. I never wanted to get this detailed but I’m not going to let others continue to push this false narrative about me and this current situation. That’s all for now. Thank you all for your continued support. Gig’Em!
