  1. Texas A&M and Tennessee to host Top247 quarterback Haynes King VIP BySTEVE WILTFONG 10 minutes ago Share 0 Comments 247Sports has learned that Longview (Texas) High Top247 quarterback Haynes King will visit Texas A&M and Tennessee the next two weekends. Lone Star State insider Gabe Brooks also confirmed the ballyhooed quarterback will take those trips.King ranks as the No. 2 pro-style passer in the country and No. 32 player overall in the Top247 Player Rankings. He lead Longview to a 16-0 season last fall en route to a state championship, throwing for 3,877 yards and 42 touchdowns with just four interceptions. The talented athlete also ran for 664 yards and eight more scores. The buzz around this recruitment says the Vols are in terrific shape to land King. They have just three scholarship quarterbacks on the depth chart with a huge need at the position this cycle. He last visited Knoxville in March and this time returns for an official.Texas A&M offered the 6-foot-2 1/2, 185-pound King at the beginning of this month so things are obviously picking up fast between the two parties heading into this weekend’s visit which may end up being an official. A couple sources have said not to sleep on Duke in this recruitment. Auburn is another to keep an eye on as King has stayed in steady contact with the Tigers. Arkansas and Baylor are two others King mentioned in a recent article with Brooks. Brooks believes visits to Auburn and Duke will be set soon
  2. 4-star OL Chad Lindberg discusses idea of a return visit to A&M VIP ByDAMON SAYLES 104 minutes ago Share 6 Comments (Photo: Brian Perroni, 247Sports) Clear Creek High School 4-star offensive tackle and national top-100 prospect Chad Lindberg is making it a priority to not only stay professional about recruiting but also give every school a fair shot at recruiting him. Texas A&M has been a school to watch for months, and in that span, he has seen a change in the offensive line coach but has gotten to know the new coach in Josh Henson. Lindberg was in College Station last month further building his relationship with Henson. Now the question involves when -- or if -- Lindberg will return to Texas A&M during his recruiting process. In speaking with GigEm247, Lindberg said he's hoping to return to College Station sometime this summer, possibly next month. "The A&M coaching staff keeps a close line of contact, especially Henson and [linebackers coach Bradley Dale] Peveto," Lindberg said. "They talk to my mom a lot, too." Lindberg would be a major get for Texas A&M if the Aggies can land him. He's a 6-foot-6 1/2, 327-pound lineman who's nationally ranked the No. 9 offensive tackle and No. 96 player overall in the 2020 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He is ranked the No. 12 player out of the state of Texas. When asked about official visits, Lindberg said he is still finalizing plans on which destinations he wants to take. The Aggies would love to get an official visit, but the recruiting battle with other programs will be tough. Texas earned his first official visit earlier this month, and Georgia and Stanford are two other schools to keep an eye on as Lindberg continues his process. The outside buzz is that Texas is the team to beat. There are five Crystal Ball predictions currently made for Lindberg, and all five favor the Longhorns. Additionally, his brother is a student in Austin. Lindberg, however, has an answer for those who don't believe his process is a close race that features multiple schools. "I usually say 'we'll see' and tell them that I'm taking all my OVs and have other school high up, too," Lindberg said.6COMMENTS Lindberg received his offer from Texas A&M back in March of 2018. He was evaluated in November by 247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks. Here's what Brooks had to say: Lindberg is coming off back-to-back first-team all-district varsity seasons. He has 37 reported offers coast to coast
  3. VIP Intel: Two new 4-star Crystal Ball predictions for A&M VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 9 minutes ago In-state prospects will always be the bread and butter of Texas A&M recruiting, but the Aggies are not afraid of going across the country to find top targets either. That was the m.o. for Jimbo Fisher at Florida State and it has remained that was in Aggieland. The Aggies have only extended one in-state linebacker offer in the class and, even then, it is a player that is not hearing from A&M any longer. Because of that, they have cast a wide net nationally. A specific one of those players is a good bet to end up in Aggieland. St. Louis Lutheran North's Antonio Doyle unofficially visited Oklahoma earlier this month. Next month, he has officials scheduled to Missouri and A&M. While the Sooners did a good job with the 6-foot-4, 230-pound defender, there is still a lot of buzz around him with A&M. The Aggies were one of his first offers and he has built a good relationship with the staff. Ahead of the visit to A&M, the feeling is that the Aggies still lead. I have put in a Crystal Ball prediction for Doyle to A&M, joining 247 insider Steve Wiltfong in doing so. The other out-of-state player I have put in a new prediction for is Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad III. The NFL legacy took an official visit to A&M last month. He then returned on his own, with his parents, less than a month later to spend another weekend in College Station. The 6-foot, 185-pound four-star prospect has long been high on in-state schools North Carolina and North Carolina State. However, A&M has the momentum now. The feeling among some other schools is that the Aggies are likely to land him. The one big question will be whether he goes that far from home. It does not seem to be a concern at the moment and he has been to College Station twice, so he is growing more comfortable. But, you never know if the in-state pull will be too much in the end. That being said, Dameyune Craig has done a great job with Muhammad and I think the nation's No. 115 overall prospect will end up at A&M
  4. 4-star DE Collins has official, unofficial planned to A&M VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 106 seconds ago One of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Texas is Bastrop Cedar Creek four-star defensive end Alfred Collins. The 6-foot-5, 247-pound defender will be the first player from the school to ever sign with an FBS program and he has drawn a lot of attention to program. On Wednesday, Terry Price from Texas A&M was joined by coaches from Baylor, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech in watching Collins and Cedar Creek work out. "Yeah, it is," Collins said of it being consistent with coaches coming by the school. "This is the most though. The biggest turnout." Collins has a pair of official visits set up to in-state schools at the moment and has an unofficial planned to an out-of-state program. I have the A&M one in October (11th) and then UT is sometime in June," he said of his officials. "I'm going to Bama for an unofficial sometime in June...That will be my first time there." Collins has been to Aggieland multiple times, but was unable to make it to the spring game. He plans to return in the near future though

  9. Liucci on the radio this morning. Just said that King is the best QB in the state, and better than Card. This is months after saying Hornsby & Card were the 2 best in state. Mind you, King's tape hasn't changed since then.
  10. After offer, A&M jumps into group of top schools for Haynes King VIP By BRIAN PERRONI After leading his team to an undefeated season and a state title this past season, Longview quarterback Haynes King has found himself a wanted man in college recruiting circles. The 6-foot-2.5, 183-pound junior has picked up offers from a number of top schools. The latest to extend one was Texas A&M as Aggie offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Darrell Dickey went by the East Texas school last week to see the four-star prospect. "Coach Dickey came by the school," King said. "He came in and watched me throw and then I found out they were offering me." King, the son of Longview head coach John King, had been building a relationship with Dickey even prior to the offer. "We've talked previously," the nation's No. 109 overall prospect said of the Aggies. "We started in about January and then we stayed in contact. I really didn't know an offer was coming though. I pretty much just stay to myself with most of that stuff. I was really busy with basketball at the time and then moving on to track, so I really wasn't paying attention to all that. "Now all this is speeding up, occupying most of my time." Jimbo Fisher has put a number of quarterbacks in the NFL and that is something that Dickey at least made King aware of. However, the Aggie assistant knows his audience and hasn't pushed too hard. "He talked to me a little bit about coach Fisher's history with quarterbacks, but not too much," King said of Dickey. "They're not that type and I respect that. They're not going to blow my phone up with all kinds of stuff. But he did definitely mention the quarterbacks he's had and coach Fisher has had. And we talked about a little more things on that aspect of A&M." With the seasons for his other sports now over, King is looking at figuring out his official visit schedule. "I really don't know right now," he said of any details about his officials. "I believe we are going to go up to A&M and a couple more places. I've been a little busy. Track just ended, so I've just finally got some time on my hands this past couple weeks. My dad and I talked a little bit about it but we haven't yet decided any certain dates or any of that." King has a few things he wants to see in his college of choice. "I'm looking for the main school that offers me the best opportunity to grow and prosper in that system and to be able to develop as a quarterback," he said. "Not only just as a quarterback, but as a person and also in my education." Though he is only just now beginning to really focus on recruiting, King admits that some schools are standing out at the moment. "There are a few," he said. "I'd say Tennessee, A&M, Auburn, possibly Duke, Baylor, TCU, Arkansas. It's really the main schools that have been keeping in touch with me. I've built a relationship with those coaches. Pretty much, whatever I'm looking for in a school, they all fit that checklist." King, who plans to graduate early and enroll at his school of choice in January, threw for 3,877 yards and 42 touchdowns with only four interceptions while completing 69 percent of his passes as a junior. He also ran for 664 yards and eight scores
  11. A&M's new 2020 offers: Where do the Aggies stand? VIP ByBRIAN PERRONI 10 minutes ago Share 0 Comments [https://s3media](Photo: Mike Roach, 247Sports) Just like with other schools across college football, the Texas A&M coaches have been on the road the past few weeks for the spring evaluation period. Coaches make several stops every day and each could be for different reasons. They could be there to see their top targets or they could be doing evaluations for potential offers. Sometimes, the visits are just to see and be seen as they make sure to keep contact with high schools in their region. Though much of the evaluation being done by the Aggies is with underclassmen, a few class of 2020 prospects have been offered as of late as well. Here's a look at the most recent offers and where things stand. Earlier this week, A&M made a much-anticipated offer to Longview quarterback Haynes King. The 6-foot-2.5, 183-pound dual-threat prospect seems a perfect fit for the offense after throwing for 3,877 yards and 42 touchdowns with only four interceptions as a junior. He also ran for 664 yards and eight scores en route to leading Longview to a state title. Though King is high on Baylor and TCU as well, he is enamored with the SEC. LSU was seen as an early favorite, but the Tigers already have a pair of four-star quarterbacks committed. King is also looking at Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee and now A&M. It would not be a surprise to see the East Texan make it down to College Station soon. Last weekend, A&M offered an all-purpose back during an unofficial visit to campus. Jabari Small out of Memphis (Tenn.) Briarcrest is listed as an 'athlete' but was offered as a do-everything back by A&M. He could line up in the backfield or in the slot at different times. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound junior has picked up a number of new offers as of late but his trip to Aggieland, despite not holding an A&M offer at the time, showed his very real interest. He will almost assuredly return on an official visit at some point, likely with national top-100 offensive tackle teammate Omari Thomas. This past weekend, Texas A&M defensive tackles coach Isaiah Robinson made his way to Pittsburgh, which is part of his recruiting territory. One of the offers he extended was to Westinghouse defensive lineman Dayon Hayes. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defender is ranked as a tackle but could also be a strongside defensive end. A mid-three-star prospect, Hayes has seen a number of big offers as of late, including from Ohio State and Penn State. The Aggies have not landed a player from Western PA in a long time, if possibly ever. Because of that and also the big regional offers, Hayes will be a tough pull. Another recent defensive line offer by Robinson was to Isaiah Raikes of Richland (N.J.) St. Augustine. He was in town on an unofficial visit with new Aggie commit Fadil Diggs, a close friend. Should A&M push hard, the Aggies are in good shape with the 6-foot-0.5, 324-pound defender. With Joe Jon Finley now on staff in Aggieland after having come over from Missouri, A&M is recruiting both Kansas City and St. Louis heavily. Not surprisingly, A&M has now offered the top recruit from Kansas City in Raytown four-star cornerback Dontae Manning. The 6-foot, 175-pound national top-100 prospect committed to Oklahoma in the middle of last month, though, and seems solid in his pledge. At the cornerback spot, Maurice Linguist made a trip to Kansas this past week to check in on a number of junior college prospects. He saw a pair of players the Aggies had already offered in Nadab Joseph of Independence and Brian George of Highland. Neither of those lists the Aggies in their top groups, though. However, Linguist also made his way to Hutchinson to check out Art Green. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defender was offered by the Aggies after that trip. Green recorded six interceptions as a freshman a year ago and the Missouri native has seen a number of new offers come his way as of late. Green and Blinn College's Marco Domioare the two junior college corners A&M is in the best shape with, though the latter is much more likely to end up in Aggieland. Last week, A&M made its way to Tyler John Tyler and offered speedy four-star athlete Kitan Crawford. Though he also plays running back, the Aggies like the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder at cornerback. Crawford had recently named a top three of Baylor, Tennessee and Texas. He has officially visited Tennessee while Texas has all of the Crystal Ball predictions. The Aggies are going to try to make it a top four, but it could be tough with him having narrowed things down already
