Wife to kids: Will you guys clean up the playroom? There are toys all over the place.
Wife at a Christmas. Buys more toys for the kids.
Tried to implement a one toy in, one toy out policy (donate or throw away) a while back, failed miserably. Never select a battle you cannot win.

The money cunny was always a short, plump little goombah troll.
She's just grown into the role.
I find it strange that she and Dobbs (Texan btw), who have been in financial news forever, both CNN alums, and long-term Fox-ers, have seemed to go so reliably Trumpy. With Bartiromo, I think it's more of a bit.
A young Maria Bartiromo was an absolute fox. More than a little bit “down market Sophia Loren” going on, NTTAWWT.

Al Gore would have liked to know about this obscure rule.
I bet Biden had an awkward convo with HRC in 2016.
”Joe, why didn’t you call ‘shenanigans’ for me?”
”Ummmm....Let’s just see how this Trump fella does?”

I love the idea that these dipshits believe that a “Vice President Can Overturn Election” poison pill had been around for over 200 years and no one else thought to use it by now.

Sharp cheddar on apple pie is amazing, learned it from both my grandma and mother who are as Texas as they come.
Can second that a piece of last nights cornbread with milk poured over it is a amazing for breakfast.

Bump. It’s pretty perfect here right now. Extremely quiet, gorgeous weather, just about everything is open. The water is a bit too cold to enjoy for too long, but plenty of other activities are available. Go check the picture thread, I did about three hours on the paddle board this morning before the wind picked up on the bay side and for about 15 minutes a group of three dolphins visited.

Not the very best images, but awesome in context and for being taken with a phone on a paddle board in the Laguna Madre. Merry Christmas.

Plug Mazahn in for Harsin in your post and everyone was saying the exact same thing about Auburn when they made their last coaching change.
And then in two years those defenses figured Gus out.
Gus’s problem was his inability to innovate and change his offense and his player development.
If Harsin is a stubborn goat and has too much of his ego tied up in running “his offense”, Auburn will be doing this again in 5-6 years.
As a Bama fan, this hire is a whatever. We’ll see how he does but I’ve heard this song and dance about these offensive geniuses before when they make the jump to big time head coach. This is accurate. No one is going to win big in the SEC (or any P5 conference, for that matter) as a purely system coach. I think that Gus actually kind of maxed out with what you can expect from a trickeration, wacky offense with athletes just a step behind. You’ll pull off some upsets and sometimes be really good, but not a real threat.
Urban Meyer brought his unique spread and won with it, but he also brought some of fantastic Zook era classes and added his own top three-five classes. We know how Alabama wins. We know how LSU won their championships. We know how Clemson does it and how tOSU does it.
Top recruiters are rarely bad coaches and they are going to figure out what you’re doing, steal what works, and then put their superior athletes out there to beat you. I think that at college, more than any other level, recruiting rankings as compared to final finishes prove the old “Jimmies and Joes” adage.
Any school that wants to win big should hire a coach first and foremost for recruiting and give him the facilities and tools he needs.
I just don’t see Harsin coming in and upsetting the SEC recruiting pecking order.

Hopefully you got something that works. That absolutely sucks that happened. Thankfully you were still able to get some shopping done
Thanks, I think it will work out, they’re not difficult kids. It still totally sucks, not just the money. We put a lot of thought into stuff small enough to not be a PITA to take back overseas in suitcases after the holidays but cool enough that they’d be excited. It’s a bit harder at Target at 8 PM on Christmas Eve.

Posted on the gift wrapping thread, not sorry for repeating since I am still ragey.
Leaving Target now because my kids’ (under ten) gifts got stolen off the front porch at my parents’ place. The adult gifts made it (we are visiting from overseas). Dad said he got the packages, should have counted I guess. Went to wrap and no Christmas presents for the children.
Fuck thieves.

It’s Christmas Eve and where am I? At Target.
WTF am I doing here like some dipshit who didn’t prepare? Glad you asked.
We traveled home from overseas for Christmas and instead of packing presents, we just did Amazon and had them shipped to the parents. Dad said they got several packages, they are stashed in the guest room, no worries.
Time to wrap and drink and what do I find? My adult family members’ shit got here. What’s not here? Gifts for the two kids (under 10). Looking at Amazon and the packages were left on the porch on days my mom is out of the house, it’s clear that they were lifted.
I am not in favor of the death penalty but actually, I am and I’d happily deliver a bullet to the head of thieves that steal packages at Christmas time.

Shrugs.
90% of what is posted here is troll posts of shit posts or pretty basically personal attacks that none of the pussies that post on here would ever say in real life.
mid an idea is worth talking about I talk about it. I think that the Logan act is antiquated and stupid. It’s being flouted right now by Joe Biden. There is no constitutional office of “president elect” and he’s a private citizen.
it’s also the same thing every presidential elect has done in my lifetime (and probably forever), it makes sense foR Biden to talk to other heads of state, and it’s good policy.
the Logan act is stupid. The fact that anyone ever threatened Flynn with it is stupid. The idea that anyone who will be part of a new administration could ever violate it is stupid. That’s what I was talking about because that’s what I wanted to talk about.
It’s not a “both sides” argument it’s a “this law over here is stupid” argument. In all seriousness, I think that a lot hinges on what a “dispute or controversy” is. Merely talking with any foreign leader about policy is not a violation.
Textually, there’s a lot of leeway but talking with Russia about sanctions and reciprocal diplomatic mission closures is very different from “when I become President, let’s focus first on migration and trade” with the leader of a friendly nation that is also dealing with the same issues vis a vis Central American migration.
Now if Biden was talking to the mullahs in Iran and telling them to just hang on a few more weeks, I think you’d have a stronger case for equivalency.

I get that. It it also seems like the state is implicitly admitting it’s a money grab on their part.
I don’t see it that way at all, if it were really just a money grab they wouldn’t be trying to deter it.
Just the same as the “click it or ticket” campaign, stupid people are more likely to try and avoid a fine than save their own damn lives.

That’s why I started with the first thing as saying it allows for racial discrimination. Any cop that wants to follow someone for a minute bc he thinks they look sketchy has a whole host of tools at their disposal to pull people over with. It’s wrong. And insidious.
I don’t understand exactly what you mean about Jose and dwi- (was he drunk or not?) in your example, but it’s always been troubling to me that the posters and commercials for dwi stress “you can’t afford it” not, you are a danger to yourself and society. Those posters are probably more effective as a deterrent. We discount the likelihood of the consequences of our own actions and overestimate our abilities (other assholes can’t drive drunk, I just had a few beers and am fine).
”If you drive drunk the man will go in dry on your ass” is a different message entirely. It’s telling you to not give other people the chance to mess with you.

Charles Kushner is a garbage person, just a reminder. He hired a prostitute to seduce his brother’s wife and gave a sex tape to his own sister during his nephew’s engagement party. That’s in addition to witness tampering and tax evasion.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t say “the crimes of the father....” But Jared Kushner is a garbage person, too. By all accounts he engaged in a revenge campaign against the U.S. attorney for doing his job and prosecuting crimes. He could, you know, be a man and say “he’s my dad and I love him, but he did something wrong and has to accept that responsibility.”
But he’s a simpering, smug, coddled pissant in a skinny suit and not a man. I like to imagine the future as a boot, stamping on Jared Kushner’s face, forever.

It is all bullshit. The COVID relief package was passed together with an omnibus spending bill to fund the government. They are two separate things and shouldn’t be conflated. Surprise surprise, there’s foreign aid and assistance funding in an omnibus spending bill.
It’s much better policy to just fund the government via continuing resolutions indefinitely, I guess.

I read this whole thing (exactly what investigative journalism should be). It all makes you ragey but this:
QuoteThe arbitrator notes, however, “No evidence of prior disciplinary action or corrective action appears on the grievant’s record.” In fact, this is the only case of discipline against Warnberg in his more than three decades on the Minneapolis police force, although he was convicted in Wisconsin of sexually assaulting a private at a National Guard training in 1992 while he was a captain. He was reinstated to the police force.
Even 30 years ago....who says “A history of sexually assaulting subordinates in uniform? I think you’ve got a bright future on this force.”
