  1. But there is still a valuation that networks place on each school and market does impact that. Canzano just posted on a mailbag that Cal/Stanford are worth $90m together but Oregon is only worth $30m. Oregon’s brand is bigger athletically but their market is much smaller and without Nike, they are basically Iowa State. Neither of those valuations makes them especially attractive but $45m is a lot closer to the $70m-ish the Big10 will get. $30m is a tire fire
  2. https://www.johncanzano.com/p/canzano-mailbag-deals-with-pac-12s interesting, says Fox thinks Cal/Stanford are worth $90m a year together and are joined at the hip and that Oregon is only worth $30m. Still far short of the $143m needed for the Big 10 to break even by taking them but may readjust peoples perception of what schools are more interesting to the Networks
  3. It’s way better at Cal than Stanford. The Cardinal have maybe, 10 fans. Cal is in the triple digits at least
  4. Cal is definitely a make weight, thats for sure
  5. Would be interested in @Sbbruin's thoughts on the UC regents and if they let UCLA go without Cal. Cal's athletic department owes about $400M for the stadium reno and if football dies in Berkeley and they default (which seems possible if their shit TV money goes down and what fan interest they have evaporates), UC regents are on the hook. Since there is no way the regents have reviewed or approved this yet, I've seen some thoughts that the regents might torpedo UCLA's ride unless Cal gets included. Total speculation, obvs, but its an angle that most people havent considered
  6. Bay Area market is what, #5? Even if Cal and Stanford are meh, eyeballs and a lot of Big10 alumni are there so you have to think its attractive on some level
  7. average one way flight time from LA to the Big10 markets is 4.5 hours. Scheduling would be a clusterfuck. Only way this makes any sense is if the 2 Bay Area schools, Oregon and Washington come along. UCLA can't ditch Cal and Oregon might not be able to ditch Oregon State so not sure this is real life unless half the Pac goes
  8. Totally agree... that offense blows beyond belief. All new receivers this year and a new QB so if they show any improvement...maybe? But yeah... I just thought it was interesting about his comment about Texas only taking 4 WRs and they might fill up so he might have to move on regardless (the last part my interpretation)
  9. Some MHP feedback from his Cal trip... he and his family really loved it, loved the location/academic combo, love that he would be the focal point of his class, etc. The usual platitudes. Dad isn't pushing him to Houston. Texas relevant info:
  10. and who said they were disappointed by the Arch effect so far? Also, does that get you to average or are we still talking shrinkage
  11. huh, Cal boards say he is going there this weekend
  12. Whatever you do, do NOT Google dolphin rape caves….
  13. on the plus side, we scored the 2nd most points against them of any team they played!
