at a certain point, being a TV analyst is the best job in the world. Jimmy Johnson couldn't have made this much money had he been coaching since 95. Romo is Scrooge McDuck'ing into a vault of money. Aikman didn't go back to the league and has been making a ton of money for years.

Meyer is in demand and can use the draw of "going back" to coaching to get increases for years into the future - the guy is only 56 for God's sake.

well that and he may enjoy watching Tom twist in the wind by the fanbase.  Maybe if Day wins a title this season, and everyone crowns him and the team as the best bucks team this century..that will light a fire under Urban and pulls the trigger to Texas

I’m not buying the Urban rumor until I hear it from LotusHorn.

you shouldn't, Urban is smiling right now knowing he has the easiest job in the world, and can keep pouring lime juice in the cuts of this program on Fox every weekend.  Herman is who the boosters all wanted since they had no say when Charlie was hired. They got him and CDC isn't letting him go after a vote of confidence and the hiring of two coordinators.  And he especially isn't doing it right now during this pandemic.

I know it's frustrating and I get why people want to check out, but for fuck sake don't be rooting for losses.  We are lucky that we have been able to play the schedule so far this season. There's cancellations still going on, so enjoy this season even if it's a shit sandwich.  Here's hoping that UT can figure it for tomorrow's game. Fuck ou.

Fellas, it's time.  It's okay.  We're in a safe space.  We all played high school football.  We all donate money.  We all piss excellence.  Our program isn't really built around winning and hasn't been for a long while, and it won't be...for a lone while.  No matter the location of your loge seats in the new SEZ.  We're gonna wander around for another couple decades.  Our brand is seriously tarnished and it's the circle-jerks around getting also-rans like Tom Herman a few years ago.  He's fine...he'll win us 8 games usually.  But he's A&M results at Clemson prices.  That's it.  And most of the LHF fell for it.  I could use a break anyway.  Y'all enjoy the rest of this shitshow.  6-4 and maybe a bowl game this year.  I'll give Herman credit, he learned to game the system at a relatively young age.  But the system in question ain't a football term.

I don't think that was his point. Punching anyone in the program, especially a coach, should never be taken this lightly.

That's not having a chip on your shoulder?

This kid was pissing me off with his celebrations of making a tackle...after a 5/6 yard gain.. on 1st down.  Not a 3rd down stop short of the marker, not a tackle for loss, but a successful first down rush.

I hardly ever read the recruiting section, but I read the recent Billy Bowman news.  Someone commented in the thread that it didn't matter who we got, because they would come here and never live up to their potential anyways, and this hit me in my feelings.  Then I started thinking:  Who on this roster has shown normal progression or improvement since arriving on campus?  Cosmi was the first to come to mind, and maybe Kerstetter.  I thought maybe you could make an argument for Chris Brown, but not a strong one.  But I couldn't name another player that has gotten progressively better since showing up on campus.  And what do those 3 guys have in common?  They were 3-stars to low 4-stars with lower expectations.  Remember the flashes Sterns and Foster showed their freshman years?  Does Sam look significantly any better today than he did against USC in his first start?   We're either recruiting high caliper players that are tapped out, or we are unable to develop those high caliper players.

I get where you are headed but Sam looks MUCH better than he did vs USC.. you might want to re-watch those highlights again

Pot will be illegal in Texas for a long time unfortunately, but I agree with your sentiment that equating possession with low morals/character is dumb.  Maybe low intelligence depending on the circumstance.  But I am also sure there have been plenty of times that this fanbase has been on their high horse about the same thing at other programs.

illegal? You can have up to 2 oz on you and you won't even get a ticket in the city of Austin

that's just how the recruiting forum works. people lose their minds when you don't 100% pump sunshine and slurp every recruit who commits to Texas. to claim that a kid who's already committed to Texas might flip to OU? yeah, the people here seriously can't handle hearing anything like that. this forum is a safe space for UT sunshine pumpers.

I'm gonna say they'll let him play whatever the fuck he wants and he'll be a horn at the end of the day. Wishful thinking, but dude bleeds orange. I hope.

Let the dude play WR. Shit, we need all the help we can get. I'm sure Washington is thinking about hitting the portal. We have Brennan one great play a game starting. Smith can't seem to catch a simple pass. Fuck I hate this year. Lost my dad, my 14 year old best friend dog is doing horrible, Texas sucks again. Fuck.

    you still have us ❤️

I went back to look at his film (highlights/etc) and that's pretty much all I saw.  I was surprised based on the talk of him when he signed. Nothing stood out in any way regarding his playing ability, just that he looked the part.

I was never big on Watson, I was just hoping that the staff saw something and he would be a solid CB/Nickle.  Maybe he still will be, oh well.. Kitan Crawford moving on up

I don't create socks. My trolling would have been more creative, if I had been interested. Truth is, I couldn't get interested in the boards. I went on a month-long road trip across the country with my wife and kids (without decapitating an RV), married off my oldest daughter on a different trip to California, helped get two businesses launched, played a bunch of golf, fished a bunch, read a bunch of books, focused on the kids and my day job, and woke up one day and Texas was playing UTEP. That flipped the switch, a little at least, but I couldn't get interested for a good long while. Still haven't watched a single pitch of MLB this year for some reason.

    Anyway, SHAME!!! SHAME!!! Good lord.

I am of the belief that Herman has actually been a pretty good bridge to the next guy for this exact reason. If Meyer came in after Strong, he would have worked to instill culture, upgrade facilities, and implement football process. Despite Herman's failings, he has been good in facilities and process to the extent that the next guy won't have to start from scratch. Tom hasn't won, but he's built the framework of a winning organization.

Yep and as much as people are shitting on the roster, it's a night and day difference from what he walked into in 2017.  Hypothetically, if he was fired at the end of this season, the only positions where we need to recruit immediately better is OL, OL, and maybe WR. Everywhere else is pretty good.

  16. Hell, Epps hasn't looked bad when we needed plays the past two weeks..first, securing the onsides kick and last saturday's TD catch over the middle. He has good hands.  He and Wiley should be the X factors because of their size alone against ou

It's not this class I'm worried about. It's next season's class that we have to worry about

I know people want to fire Tom right now, but I honestly think we just have to roll with him, keep supporting him.  Maybe i'm naive, but I feel that we aren't that far off..  Maybe it's the Crown Vanilla talking but I still believe this team will be in Arlington come December.

Seeing that video of Ingram in pain after the game.. then seeing Bijan taking a knee praying with him..  I dunno, feels like this game is not how this season will play out.
