Holy shit. Those in-state rankings are awful.

Yeah..can't even blame Ketch..his LSR 100 seems to be the closest surly would agree with.. They are pretty off in comparison as well.  So I'm taking Farrell has the most say when it comes to the Texas region in the rankings discussion?

Didn't even think OU was after Smith until recently and he gives them a silent commit out of the blue.  Supposedly isn't announcing until one of the All-Star games, but he'll probably go public in a few weeks.  Seems how most of these are going lately.

I hope the staff keeps working him.

Fucking insanity.  And it will lead to a concentration of talent that will create a clear divide among the current P5.

This is probably all going to be the death knell of the Pac 12 being a major conference.

Yep.. AZ feels like a shoe in to sign up for the Big 12.  AZ gov is ready for sports to take place (with guidelines of course).

  4. I know Roach is saying that ou is using Tom being on the hot seat against him, but I have a feeling they are selling him on the ol Charlie Weiss pitch and points to Texas 2020 DL Class and 2021 commitments. Collins, Broughton, Sanders, Thomas, and are recruiting Turner..ou can sell an easy path to DE..  Having said all that.  If we play games this fall, Ossai killing it along with a solid season on the DE playing opposite (bimage, Jones?) I think Smith will commit to us

I think you're on to something here, in that the COVID response will greatly affect the landscape of college football, and that the Big 12 and SEC are going to be the only leagues where every school plays.  I think the Big 10 will mostly play as well.  I don't see anyone west of the Appalachians save for Northwestern bowing out.  I think about half the ACC will play as well.  Or at least want to.

I think the serious football schools in the Pac 12 and ACC are going to want out and will look to the SEC, Big 12, and Big 10.  At this point, I don't think there's much of a point with continuing to have high level college football in large coastal cities - especially on the west coast.  The South and the Midwest/Great Plains are where people care about the sport.

SC is still the prize out west.  Think the two schools in AZ also have a high, high ceiling in the future (especially ASU)

Having said that, I do think if you find a situation where some schools in a league don't agree to play while others do, it could definitely be a catalyst to further realignment.  I just don't see a single Big 12 school that's going to sit this fall out if they aren't being forced by some higher power to do so.  There won't be a single SEC school that does it either.

The other conferences will deal with this to varying degrees.

Yep be interested in seeing how the PAC deals with this. Oregon gov seems set that there will be no football season this fall.  Seems like Washington and California tend to trend that way as well.. however, AZ seems like a state which wants football back ASAP.  I also wonder if schools where I live (VA and VA Tech) decide not to play either.. but FSU, MIA and CLemson do.  Could get ugly.. I mean that type of disagreements could dissolve GORs correct?

We see what one top-5 finish since 1956 looks like at Georgia Tech.

Here is what one top-5 finish since 1956 looks like at Texas A&M. The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M:

I have a hard time believing this, mostly because I can't see a single current Big 12 school passing on football this fall.

It's "Big Cigar Talk" so you are most likely right.  I'm thinking it's more to do with Bowlsby who, still has that California mindset (right or wrong), came out first with the no Zoom meetings, then if no students are on campus this fall, no football.  He has now changed stances on both of those statements, Zoom meetings are allowed and if there is online classes going on, football can still be played.

I just want to see her reaction on camera when some red ass yokel does something dumb like gathering in a groups and whooping howdy at one another. I imagine Scholz just going off in a borderline Tourette’s rant, completely unhinged to himself. “Every one of those dumb motherfuckers are too stupid to fucking live. For God’s sake they worship a fucking COLLIE. A dog. And a shitty dog at that! Not even a good dog like a retriever or lab. Fucking dumb motherfuckers shouldn’t be allowed to breed!!” Then the camera pans awkwardly to Mrs. Scholz while she stares at her hands sadly, eyes downcast. Then the theme to Curb Your Enthusiasm plays.

Admittedly I'm just peaking in from time to time, so what IT update did I miss?

think it was nahlin.. but along the lines of the Big Cigar saying the Big 12 isn't in this all together like it seems regarding the Pandemic and football being played this fall.  Texas will be playing this fall, with or without some schools in the Big 12. Nahlin (or whatever writer) then put this can't be good for conference realignment down the rd.
