Drumm with his 2021 class prediction at this point -- note he has a 25 man class here but I don't think they have 25 with the portal guys that they've signed, unless all of them count back to 2020? unsure.

they seem sure that OU will take a 5 WR class despite taking 10 the past 2 years.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

anyway - here we go ::

Last week was my first 2021 class prediction. It is linked HERE. Let's see what is different this week, if anything. Remember, this is just how I see it POTENTIALLY playing out as May 8th...

    QB: Caleb Williams

(Sooners fans have fingers crossed this happens soon. Williams commitment could be the biggest magnet commitment in quite some time.)

    RB: Camar Wheaton

(I think SMU is real for Wheaton, and so is Texas. I just think Murray wins out in the end. I also believe OU may just go with one RB in this class. Starting to get that feeling, and my confidence in AJ Green getting an RB offer is getting less and less as the weeks go by.)

WR: Cody Jackson, Mario Williams, Christian Leary, Jalil Farooq, and Malcolm Johnson.

(Jalil was vocal with me and others about his affinity for the Sooners. Malcolm Johnson talked up OU and playing with Williams a lot. Sooners want to use the speedster in the Hollywood Brown role. OU is making moves; I still hear positives with Leary and OU. That could change, though. We will see. Mario Williams is leaning heavily to OU, and Jackson is committed).

OL: Cullen Montgomery, Bryce Foster, and one or two more. If so, I will say Reuben Fatheree. Lastly, I will go with an outlier, and with Caleb Williams, in the class, I will say OU gets one or two shocking players. I by no means feel confident about this pick, but I do think if there is going to be a surprising big-name target choose OU, it will be at OL, WR, RB, LB, or DB.

In this case, I will go with OL and choose five-star OL Tristan Leigh. People around Caleb Williams camp seem confident in OU chances if Caleb decides on the Sooners. They have been talking a lot, and I am told OU speaks with Tristan and his mother almost daily. Add the solid virtual visit, and it gives some background for my pick. Again, I don't have much confidence in this pick, but I do think OU gets a couple, maybe three, big-name commits that no one saw coming in early May. I chose OL and a recent "visitor" as one.

Monty is committed. Foster seems to have OU in the lead with A&M always there because he is a legacy. Fatheree has visited OU a lot and is teammates with Cody Jackson.

DL/DE: Ethan Downs, Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge, Kelvin Gilliam, Tommy Akingbesote

(All can be inside/outside guys in Grinch's system. What he wants in DL/DE types. Akingbesote's head coach is close friends with Caleb Williams family.)

OLB/ILB: Danny Stutsman, Kendal Daniels (ATH/OLB/DB), Collin Oliver (I think he gets an offer at some point), Clayton Smith (OLB) ...

(Sooners got Stutsman to commit. He looks to be headed to four-star territory soon. Also, little known fact, Stutsman's father played on the same team as current Sooners TE Austin Stogner's father in college. I am told they were Baylor Bears together, and both were really good players. I just found that fact pretty interesting. Can confirm that the Stogner's played a role in OU getting Stutsman. Players and their families are the program's best recruiters. I will believe that till proven otherwise.

Daniels is a guy I think grows into an OLB/Edge rusher, and Collin Oliver will be too good to pass up. I think OU probably knows that already. Though I have admitted, I am not as confident as I was last week in him getting the offer. I do think he ends up with one — just a total guess.

Clayton Smith is just me picking an OLB that the Sooners seem to be focusing on. I think the virtual visit will be key going forward for Smith. OU still has a lot of hurdles here, but they are right there. Again, I am just taking a stab here due to the fact sources I speak with seem to think OU feels good about him. Texas leads, as noted earlier, but OU can make up ground, and I am guessing they do... Not confident at all, but have to pick an OLB, and on May 8th, I will pick Clayton Smith. )

DB: Jordan Mukes, Latrell McCutchin, Tommi Hill, Caleb Johnson, Khyree Jackson, Daymon David

(Mukes is committed. McCutchin and OU are something if you get what I am eyeing... I mean, talking about. Caleb Johnson is newly offered and hasn't played much DB. OU loved the limited DB film so much that they offered off WR film. Johnson is FAST and has all the tools to be a lockdown corner. SEC schools are coming in hot too, but I like the Sooners chances here. Khyree Jackson is just a gut feeling from the positive things I have heard recently. I will cover that on Monday or so. Daymon David has a very tight relationship with OU staff that dates back a bit.)

*** If they have room, they take one or two extra OL. I am just guessing how they allow this class to play out because they have a bunch of variables going forward. I went a bit off of numbers/need, and also off of what/who I thought best chances with going forward. That is one helluva class, in my opinion.

Oh this is really good even for Drumm..  Can't wait til his boards go in on him when they strike out on several these guys just so he can go "this board is nothing without my info" again.

OBs wouldn't be the place to find out. Such is still saying that Texas pulling Burris without Jackson is "very very unlikely". Because package deals, amirite?

aggy is the perceived leader for Burris, but I don't think there is any significant margin over anyone. I get the sense that Burris ends up leaving both at the alter, be it for swamp aggy, bama, or a yet to be determined dark horse like cougar high.

If we land and keep our targets, I'd be perfectly happy without him. Sanders, Thomas, Turner, Smith, and Harris would be the best haul in....awhile. I like Turner more than Burris anyway. If we're going to take a real DT, give me Coburn or Ojomo. Burris isn't that.

Is Turner projected to be a DT like TQ or is he gonna bulk up to play NT like Coburn or Sweat?

You never want to doubt Patterson with defensive players but Jackson was awful with OU. OU improved when they stopped playing Jackson.

I'd expect him to make the 2nd or 3rd team all big 12 team and be an early day 3 draft pick.. just the way Sweaty P operates... and ou will claim Jackson as a development win lol

  4. Love to hear that we lead as of now with Turner and Smith.  Curious to know where Burris is thinking right now.  He's been penciled in with aggy for a while but with them taking DL kids OOS, does he look elsewhere? Any shot that he could come to Austin with Turner?

  5. Think the SEC view them as an outsider that was given a free ride..  I know they are the ones that started the Big 12 defections by openly lifting it's skirts hoping the Rust Belt would insert it's fingers and bring them in.

I don’t see it. Not because he can’t play it, but he got more than enough accolades at QB in HS, and knowing he’s probably not an NFL WR with his body type, dude will transfer to play QB elsewhere if he doesn’t win the job, or wins it and loses later. JQJ probably needs time to develop, and Card will be ready sooner. It’s going to be a difficult dynamic between Card, JQJ, and Millie logjammed together. Which is why we need Ewers.  JQJ might just get moved to LB as well by year 2.

I think Card will give Thompson the biggest push for the 21 starting role.  Think if JQJ sticks at QB he and Card will compete for the 22 starting spot through out the Spring and Summer.  As much as I want to see it, I just can't envision Card, JQJ and Milroe all being on the '23 roster.

Covid-19 social distancing crap is getting old, and Surly's concerns, doubts & disappointments regarding Texas recruits/players/coaches are sometimes too much of a beating...

    1) Besides Bijan and the QB's, what 2020 Class players have Surly folks hyped for the future and why?

    2) Who/where do yah predict some of the 2020 Class will play and add value for the Horns 2020 football season?

For me it's the DL, Collins, Broughton, Welch and Dorbah.  I believe that all of these kids will be day 1 and 2 draft picks when it's all said and done.  beautiful part is that we probably only get to see them in garbage time in 2020.. No need to throw them in there unless they are that much better than what we have now.

Not sure anyone has ever uttered those words before. Also, you think that guy is a fount of sunshine?

Sorry for the grumpiness. A toddler who hasn’t been to daycare for 6 weeks just winged my fucking nutsack with a macho man elbow off the top of the couch.

LOL I hear ya my man.  I too am worried about Ewers, so I hope that MD kid does commit to ou.  Ewers looks LEGIT and the thought of him playing for ou in Dallas makes me sick

Ignoring the absurdity that qbs don’t often transfer elsewhere to back up another qb, Ewers at this point is hardly a certainty. I wouldn’t call him a pipe dream, but it isn’t looking good right now at all. You’d better hope OU signs that highly ranked kid they’re fighting off Maryland for and that Ewers doesn’t want to leave the state of Texas for a place like Alabama.

it was a joke.. I miss @closetojumping , Sydney it's too early to be this grumpy.

IIRC Perroni (or maybe one of the Texags guys) said this kid was A&M's top 2022 target, since it seems Ewers is a non-starter for them.

I watched the tape.. wow..kid seems to be really really good.  His WRs seem to suck.. lots of dropped passes.  Think if he played in Texas he would give Ewers a run for his money.  Good that the staff offered him but I'm sure TN will do whatever it takes to get him to stay.

I actually hope he does stick.  I mean, I love some aggy tears on decommits, but the west coast mod who has seen this guy and gave the evaluation says he's put on some weight which has slowed him and needs to play with consistancy and not take plays off.  His composite ranking has steadily dropped since August.

yeah but he belongs in the league of champions..especially the SEC West..  Is this kid a 6 star prospect??! Looch sure writes like he is
