  1. yeah the whole sec talk is really starting to turn these kids. It's gonna take us putting a beating behind the shed performance in Death Valley and hopefully squaring up against another sec team in the CFP to show that it's the school not the conference that makes you great. The ACC is much weaker than the Big 12 but Clemson has no trouble.  Last decade plus of SEC champions and aggys selling it in the state has taken it's toll.. Texas has to show out. HookEm

Seems like Kerstetter could be a surprising day 2 pick in the draft if he keeps improving.  Do we need him more at Center or RT?  Seems like Center.

We need him at Center .. I don't want to see us get killed through inside stunts the way Shack allowed us to last season.. Hopefully Kertsetter can get through to Angilou as well

Outside of just being a petty little man, out of curiosity, why did my post warrant a neg, @LetYourNutsHang? Because if you disagree and want to defend the insight and sources of Jeremy Clark, I’m sure the rest of this board would live to hear your thoughts on the matter.

    maybe he is Jeremy Clark?

Which is funny because we've added 5 dudes in 30 days. I'd call that a run. We're just simultaneously missing out on guys that are running away.

The difference between last year and this years is last years we were coming off an exciting season. This year we’re coming off a stale fart and an entirely new coaching staff save 3 guys and a stench of incompetence.

You two obviously aren't friends of the program..

  5. This period of anguish reminds me of last June, early July before they went on a run.  Not saying we will be going on a run like that again this summer, but the lows feel like the lows of a year ago.  Again, it's time to actually show results, you can only sell the future for so long.  New coaches, new relationships? Tough, just go out and ball.

  6. Listening to the OB podcast.. Such and Ketch were getting into a lil piss fight when it came to 2021 recruiting.. Such said Texas was about to get a WR from FL who never visited campus.. Not sure if that was a slip or if he was just saying that in his debate with Geoff.

I’m a Texas fan and grad but I live in Seattle now. So I’ve adopted UW as my second squad and I’m really hoping UW is able to keep these 5 stars in state. Washington (the state) has three top 25 national recruits and it’s looking like UW may snare only one of them. It’s a rare year and opportunity for UW to have 3 five stars in its back yard. At least we’re keeping the five star QB but I don’t understand why Jimmy Lake, a defensive young new coach, can’t keep JT from the buckeyes.

I listened to the 247 recruiting pod yesterday with Blair Angulo.. his guest was a mod that put a cb for that kid to tosu.  he had a confidence level at one for that cb FWIW

Off the top of my head, we've moved folks around way too much and didn't stress some positions early. That being said, in fairness, there's also mitigating circumstances for most of those dudes:

Overshown: A kid has to be on board with a position change, and Overshown certainly wasn't early. He's definitely behind the 8 ball learning a position many had him pegged for out of HS. Of course, injuries also factored into this situation, as him taking to longer to realize maybe he was a LB.
Owens: I don't think it's fair he's on this list. I'd have been fine keeping him at safety, honestly, but oh well. This change was made early enough
Epps: Who gives a shit, he fucking sucks dick no matter what
Whittington: It's unfair he's on this list, as his move was desperation based. He's 1 red shirt year down due to injury and going to back to a position he is at naturally. Not a big deal.
BJ Foster: See Overshown above. He's had injury problems. But he seems to have a fit, but they haven't stopped moving him around either. Cause for concern.
Roschon: See Whittington. It's unfair he's on this list, and somewhat moot considering he's a RB long term now, and will never be a QB

Let me help you out further with a couple others I find concerning:

Jamison: They wasted a year on offense, literally. He's supposedly a corner now.
Cook: Corner, but now moving to nickel. I realize some cross training happens naturally in the secondary, but still, it's a move 2 years in and it's not a slam dunk Cook makes sense at Nickel. Now he's competing with Foster there too?

The above two also have injury issues that have muddied the waters as well, which seems to be a real problem in our secondary.

My gut says they move guys too much and/or don't do a great job selling a position to HS recruits out of HS, and then waste development time when they switch a year or two down the road. I think it's a concern. Some mitigating factors, but I think it's a problem. Hopefully the problem was the LAST set of coaches on staff.

I forgive Jamison because we had 2 Sr CBs, and they realized his talent wasn't best served buried on the depth chart.. so they tried to give him some run at WR.  Did it really hurt Jamison?

  9. Shit man this hits close to home.  We are planning on moving back to Texas (born and raised in Austin) from VA by summer of 2022. My daughter is hell bent on being a vet and I don't want her to be an aggy.  So we are looking at Tech.  Did not know that the Vet school itself is in Amarillo. Here's to hoping she decides to do something else and she can follow her Uncles footsteps and attend UT.
