  1. It would look better if it was just the H in front of a blue star, like it was on the all orange and orange will blue bill caps, instead of that clunky logo.
  2. My wife and I have struggled with “unexplained infertility” for several years. Medically, all the tests say we are both perfectly normal. But she has had multiple miscarriages and difficulty getting pregnant in between. After IUI was unsuccessful, the next step proposed was IVF. We talked about it and decided not to because of ethical discomfort over 1) potentially needing to terminate if there were multiples and 2) especially the question of what to do with leftover embryos-all of the options (indefinite storage, destruction, adoption) made us uneasy. I say all that to say I recognize this is very much a grey area. Reasonable people can come to different conclusions about what is right-not everyone shares our perspective and I completely understand why they don’t. And that’s precisely why the state shouldn’t be dictating this.
  3. This is why optimally you want him batting 2nd (not leadoff or even 3rd). The leadoff hitter has a runner on ahead of them less than any other spot in the lineup; conversely, 3 frequently has at-bats with no one on and 2 out-it’s actually a less important spot than 4 or even 5 in terms of likelihood of having runners on. 2 should be your best overall hitter, one with both high OBP and power.
  4. I’m clearly in the minority, but I’m not really interested in watching that sport.
  5. Yeah, 13 and 14 in last year’s rankings were 9-3 LSU and Arizona. No thanks. Edit: go back a few years and you’ll find 9-4 Stanford in the final rankings of 2017 at 13. Certainly deserving of a playoff spot.
  6. Dusty Baker has entered the chat.
  7. Welcome to last week.
  8. I’m going to be optimistic and believe for now that it’s because he’s hitting 9th all the time that he’ll always know.
  9. It’s optimal to have your best hitters at 1, 2, and 4 by The Book. 2 should be your best overall hitter (Alvarez) and 4 should be a big power bat (Tucker>Bregman). 3 should be filled in after those guys ideally.
  10. So reiterating what everyone has known for like 2 years then.
  11. I mean, he’s not really fighting for his job. He’ll be in CF if Alvarez is in LF, otherwise he’ll be in LF.
  12. I work part-time as a hospice chaplain. I would in no way be qualified to work as a school counselor. Dealing with grief and loss is not at all comparable to the comprehensive mental health and child development training necessary for that role. It’s nuts.
  13. He got plenty of at bats in AAA last year and sucked.
  14. Having a lively argument with yourself?
  15. Nobody forgets that. It’s why his WAR was so much higher before he transitioned to 1B. You can remove all his season from 2014 on and he still easily has more than Santiago.
  16. Could be worse - that's about what Stanton will make for those 3 seasons too.
  17. That would have been a better argument after 2021 than after the last 2 seasons. Reports of his decline seem to have been greatly exaggerated.
  18. The best and 3rd best seasons of his career by wRC+ is somehow “a couple seasons of declining production.” Never change.
  19. Everyone who follows this team even somewhat closely knows this. But leave it to that guy to try to somehow make this news all about him.
  20. No man is an island, but some live under a rock.
  21. I should have been more specific: he’s not an upgrade over any OF on the roster. I recall someone with a stupidly incorrect assessment recently that he was better than Meyers, for instance.
  22. That’s fair. I agree that it’s silly to get a lefty just because.
  23. Why? Is it just because he’s a lefty? He’s not an upgrade over anyone on the roster in terms of production.
  24. It turns 1 player into 2! Great deal.
