  1. Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow.
  2. Auburn beat up OU and Alabama beat up Georgia. That’s what always happens in the SEC. No wonder the sips beat them both. They still haven’t been tested. The jury is still out.
  3. I thought he said he did practice. And, imo, implied that he might have gone back in the game but WR depth made it unnecessary to consider.
  4. Vaguely on topic, but it sounds like Sarkisian treats other teams’ injury reports largely as works of fiction, as he should.
  5. Yeah, who the hell knows but #5 is likely to be a very damned good team, perhaps better than 3 and 4. I think once you get 2 — which I guess means a one-loss SEC champion Texas with unbeaten, say, Ohio State at 1 — you’re probably looking at the ACC champions at 3. I think #5, though, is going to be loser of the SEC championship game. Maybe not if it’s UGA and Texas has beaten them twice (theoretically) but who knows. Without reseeding, everyone is going to be pulling for upsets, though, I think.
  6. You can only hope to contain him.
  7. You’re no Winston Wolf.
  8. If Clemson is looking at a 4 seed, all the more reason for Texas to want the 1. That would set up really nicely, imo.
  9. We’ll see what happens to Arkansas with a fully armed and operational Sarkisian roster. This little piggie went to market, is my guess. Last year’s OU game was a fuck up, no doubt. I don’t doubt that Sarkisian understands that game, though. Texas didn’t lose because Sarkisian’s team was overwhelmed by the intensity of the rivalry. It lost because it didn’t protect the ball, couldn’t score in the red zone, and, well, I’m trying to block out some of the defensive stuff. He has made effort specifically to address those failures. OU will feel the brunt of that. Arkansas is going to get kicked in the balls. A&M is going to get curbstomped on their own hallowed field. This is how Texas football is meant to be, and it’s about goddamned time to set the universe straight about that.
  10. Yeah, needs less cowbell. Just get out of the game healthy.
  11. Sarkisian said as much in the postgame. More or less, once you hit one you want to keep hitting them but sometimes checking down to keep drives going is the smarter move.
  12. I wasn’t really speaking to that aspect, just why what Heupel did was explicable. That said, whether they came back to earth or not remains to be seen and could still be related to taking the air out of the ball, more or less. It will take some actual offensive firepower on the other sideline to see whether Tennessee will only open it up against outmanned teams. Maybe he did it not to embarrass OU. Maybe he did something like Sarkisian did in Ann Arbor: we got this, let’s just get out with as little risk as possible. Maybe he was afraid OU’s defense could make his young QB enough of a liability. With no tangible basis, I tend to think he was OK with essentially choking out OU and, had it been necessary, they could’ve thrown the ball around more and scored more. More “conscious decision” than “came back to earth” except to the extent a reasonably competent defense would contribute to the latter.
  13. Oh, yeah, from that angle, no doubt. There was a lot of “seven win Steve” around here in the not very distant past.
  14. I think it’s explicable. Their defense was crushing the life out of OU. Why risk sacks, fumbles, or interceptions in a QB’s first road start when there’s absolutely no need?
  15. “Undeniable truth” is pretty hard to defend in any future-looking context. And I’m not entirely sure what put A&M ahead even looking backwards.
  16. I don’t know if it’s because he came so far to play at Texas or because he just seemed super pumped about it or some combination, but I am especially glad to see him to get a chance to show his game.
  17. Sarkisian sucks and Texas is overrated, but they keep pointing in this direction to cheer themselves up about what’s theoretically possible. It’s a shame cognitive dissonance doesn’t hurt.
  18. Let’s see how they’d do against Toledo before we jump to any conclusions.
  19. If you get SEC, you didn’t have to splurge to get SEC+.
  20. Running the offense from the 42 isn’t “brakes,” though.
  21. Yes, you decline the penalty in a tough game. When the game is a glorified scrimmage, you want to work on the return game and see if Bolden can pop one. I’d guess that was the thinking.
  22. Three TD favorites or more over both of them, but ok.
  23. Vanderbilt? Florida?
  24. I mean… who do they think Florida is, exactly?
