  1. This is why I kind of like Neonmoon. No deflection via name calling. Just owns it all. Like, fuck yeah we’re getting rid of gas stoves. Fuck yeah you’re gonna eat the bugs and the lab grown proteins. Fuck yeah I would like less people on the planet.
  2. Championing his “endorsement” is a stretch. I do think it is noteworthy that a candidate that is polling at around 20% against a sitting President is defending it though.
  3. I’m a bit confused how this would work. Borrow money to buyback treasuries at different maturities that need liquidity for collateral markets to function properly? The depth and liquidity of the UST market is always touted. Guess it’s not deep or liquid enough.
  4. Put this here instead of SVB thread since it addresses Fed policy as much as banking screw ups. 1/2 of banks insolvent?
  5. I think it’s safe to assume the dynamic will be the same as Russia in combat. Largely top down control and decision making, and if/when they decide to go, it will be all in. We have to be ready for that level of commitment.
  6. Also, agree on Tapit Trice being up there. My long shot might be Cyclone Mischief at 30-1. Has pedigree to go full distance. Drew tough position though at 21.
  7. To me, Practical Move looks like a good value at 10-1. Won last 3. Top 3 in last 6 starts, so will be in my trifecta picks.
  8. Any sharps here? Thoughts on the Derby this weekend?
  9. Quite the graphic comparison of this vs 2008
  10. Yeah, as long as there are sustained runs on deposits, these banks are all fucked. And that’s without being upside down on USTs or CRE loans.
  11. PacWest halted. Down 39% today. JPM licking their chops?
  12. Adventures in Central Planning
  13. I take it all back. WAL down 24%. PACW down 29%. Come on down
  14. I was wrong here. PACW 52w low was $5. It’s at $9 now. Still comparatively worse than WAL. Down 10% yesterday. I had missed that they changed a rule to allow this deal to go through. There was a limit of 10% of all deposits in one bank. No more. Also, some of these conclusions are contested in the comments, but they expect IRR of 20% on the deal. Nice, sweetheart deal it would appear.
  15. Western Alliance actually looks relatively ok. It's 3x the lows. PacWest is maybe the next one. Down 7% today and just 5% off the bottom of a couple months ago.
  16. Got some good news on a couple fronts yesterday. My wife had lunch with her friend that has kids the same age as our two oldest (8th and 6th). The mom started saying hey did you know Coach X? He always gave me the creeps because XYZ. Well, the athletic director showed up at baseball practice and said he was now coaching the team and that Coach X would not be returning. I wonder what happened? She had also asked a couple teachers and no one seemed to know. My wife later drove my daughter and two friends to volleyball practice. The other girls were talking about how Coach was there Monday morning, but he was gone by lunch. They heard rumors he had a death in his family. My daughter played along. Looks all good there.
  17. Thanks for producing those raw numbers. Again, that’s the deep analysis I’ve been told to expect from all the smart people here.
