  1. It's gotten the point where a Hi from Gerry means about as much to me as 👀 from Harris. At best it means we got a silent from a football recruit, and silents just aren't worth much anymore. Even worse, sometimes its a basketball recruit. Which is fine, but it's like seeing a chocolate chip cookie in the jar, getting it out and realizing that it was just oatmeal raisin. It's not bad, but it's not what you wanted.
  2. Nah, it’s not ignorance. It’s the same shit as Bohls asking if horns down will be a penalty, every preseason, when he knows damn well the rules haven’t changed. “Texas bad” gets clicks and that’s all they need to know.
  3. Bone's bio says he's an Alabama guy who just came over from Rivals. So...grain of salt.
  4. Live image captured from this "conversation":
  5. I understand the appeal of LSU to an unsophisticated person. And I mean "unsophisticated" in the technical sense, not calling them stupid or anything. They lack expertise or experience, and can be convinced by a pitch that seems strong on a superficial level. While at Texas, Bo Davis helped put four different DL in the NFL, including a first-rounder. Credit where its due, Davis was the coach most responsible for developing Murphy. If they have a strong NIL pitch - regardless of the veracity of the pitch - to go with Davis' reputation, I can understand it. I also understand that people in CFB coaching circles are high on Kenny Baker's potential, but he has nothing to sell at the moment. So I don't necessarily fault him for not winning head-to-head with Davis, although it is disconcerting. But where the fuck was this version of Bo Davis at Texas? Why did Davis struggle to recruit quality DL here? There's no way that our NIL and sales pitch are worse than LSU (with or without Davis). Was he focused on development and there's only so many hours in the day? Did he think his 2022 class was enough to coast on (despite not being as good as it seemed on paper)? I don't get it. I hope that Zion and Brown sit down with the staff and they can explain why LSU's pitch is bullshit. I hope we get that chance. Because I'm pretty fucking sick and tired of losing recruits to a school that I frankly view as being worse than A&M.
  6. You gotta think like a business and do the math. Is the amount of money it costs to fix the stadium worth the extra number of units sold due to the fix? If not, then don't do it. Not to be mean about it, but nobody gives a shit if Southwest's stadium looks right.
  7. Shit, I'm pretty sure Sewanee has one too. Remove the irrelevant nerd schools and Texas is pretty much undefeated.
  8. This feels like one of those misleading statistics where it's technically true, but we've only had two games (or something) in the last 20 years that kicked off at 2:30 so it's really not that interesting. At any rate, we've only won 8 out of the last 20, so regardless of kickoff time our success has not been great this century.
  9. Red River is never late, nor is it early, it arrives precisely when it means to.
  10. Woohoo, Jack Boyette coming in with some top-tier subtle-but-not-really-subtle racism. Because that's how the modern, cosmopolitan Aggie does racism. You can't live in Houston or DFW and just drop hard-R's anymore. But you still need to fly your flag so the other racists know where you stand. Like he wants you to know that he knows that he's not allowed to be racist, but he also wants to remove any doubt that he is indeed racist.
  11. Welcome to RBU, Jim.
  12. Tech shares its last conference title with Rice. Fucking. Rice.
  13. This is embarrassing, but it's the point is "moo," not mute.
  14. Do none of y'all watch MAC games on Tuesday night in November? Don't get me wrong, I love UT football but I also like college football more generally. To the extent this new system elevates the super leagues into something new and lowers everything else down a level from what it currently is, it seems unfortunate. There's always been divisions in college football, but they were divisions in the same larger arena of the sport. I don't want to see the P2 split with the other P2/G5 in something similar to the FBS - FCS split back in the 70's. I'll still watch, of course. But the football sicko in me is a bit worried.
  15. I think that's technically correct but that "smote" is more commonly used.
  16. Seems like a good thing for Texas football, but not necessarily a good thing for college athletics over all.
  17. My take away is that Tope is a pretty chill guy who tries his best not to talk too much shit about coaches. Some of those Herman stories are pretty cringe though.
  18. Welp, looks like we know who one of Gerry's silents is.
  19. +1 for Wadlington's Thinking Texas Football. There's maybe not a lot of new information for someone who follows the program closely, but it is nice to have it most of it in one convenient source. His analysis is fine and I enjoy his writing style. I also like supporting people in the Texas media sphere who give a shit and aren't completely assholes.
