In the post apocalypse the man who occupies the Bic factory and controls the supply will be rich beyond his dreams

I always say, in the event of a complete collapse of the financial system, I ain't buying gold, I'm buying guns.  But maybe I will buy some bic lighters too.

At this time in 1990, Texan blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan died when his helicopter crashed into a ski hill at Alpine Valley Resort after a concert with Eric Clapton at the Alpine Valley amphitheater in East Troy, Wisconsin.

I remember that day.  Thought I heard it on the radio but wasn't sure.  Asked the girl I was dating "did they just say Stevie Ray Vaughan died?"  Her: "yeah, why?"

Nailed her one last time then cut her loose.

I'm amazed by anybody who lives in Texas and can't speak enough Spanish to order Mexican food at a restaurant. I mean if you're an adult, by this point, you should have picked up enough to at least be able to do that.

Reminds me of when my mom was impressed with my "bilingual skills" because the waitress, walking around with a pot of coffee in hand, asked me "Mas café?" and I answered "Si, gracias".

Yeah takes years of education and practice to understand that café means coffee.

    Lessons from Grendel...

  4. So, there are food items I regularly buy.  Every week, same thing.  It pisses me off to no end when heb decides to put a coupon on something I always get, then all the sudden it's sold out.

People who say ‘all the sudden’ instead of ‘all of a sudden.’

There are lines at the pump in Hawaii. Where exactly in the fuck do they think they are driving with a full tank of gas?

If the hurricane causes major damage it's possible there won't be gas available for a few days if not weeks.  Two refineries on Oahu make most of the gas.  Some gas is shipped in already refined but a small percentage.

Kind of have the same situation here.  On most Thursdays I order 2 large super duper pizzas from Spanky's.  Two of our mechanics don't like all the veggies, so a couple of times have ordered 1 SD and 1 meat lovers.  Yep, the SD gets wiped out while the ML only gets 3 or 4 pieces eaten.  Last time I bought I told them if they wanted something different to order and buy it themselves.

Pretty much every pizza place in America will let you order a pizza with one half different from the other.

Yep.  The three star backs that Charlie pursued were Soso Jamabo, Chris Warren, and Nick Brossette.  Nick has a chance to do something this year after a total of 306 yards in three years, but reports don't indicate that he's a clear starter.

Watching Soso at UCLA, he takes forever to get going and then even when he does, he's not that hard to bring down.  Runs high.

It’s not odds. You’re just increasing the bet with your winnings

Well, technically, a place bet includes odds.  Placing $12 on a 6/8 is really a $2 bet plus $10 odds.  So you get paid 1-1 on the $2 and 6-5 on the $10, for a total payout of $14.  Same on the 5/9, $10 bet is really $2 bet and $8 odds.  So you get paid 1-1 on the $2 and 3-2 on the $8 for a total payout of $14.  Or you can just call it 7-6  and 7-5 (and 9-5 on the 4/10).

File under annoying shit your wife does:

If you come over to my house and want to make a sandwich, chances are you will find the ziplock deli meat and cheese bags are not sealed.

How fucking hard is it to close them correctly? For fuck’s sake you have a masters in molecular biology.

I bet the dept chair in charge of molecular biology was a happy man when your wife was in school.

  10. I watched a good part of the game last night and it sure seems like Warren is one of the biggest stories in Raiders camp.  I'm certainly not a hater, but a few things make me wanna tap the brakes just a bit.  Warren got most of his playing time on one drive in the third and most in the fourth.  The Lions inexplicably put together a drive after an EJ Manuel fumble on the 7 that took up more than half of the 3Q.  That first drive of the 3Q includes the highlight shown above.  So his success came against the scrubs, I mean, who plays in the 4Q of the first pre-season game?  In Warren's defense, his teammates at the time were also scrubs.

On one particularly nice run by Warren on that first drive in 3Q, Rich Gannon said that Warren needs to get his pad level lower if he wants to last in the NFL.  Seemed like an unsolicited comment at the time, but who knows, maybe Gannon actually did some research and knew that running too high was one of Warren's major criticisms.

The Raiders backfield is crowded.  Warren was basically RB4.  Of course Lynch is the starter, but the other two guys seemed serviceable.  One is DeAndre Washington from Tech the other is Richard who was targeted a lot as a receiver out of the backfield.  Both guys are in their 3rd year so probably not very expensive.  Richard is also a return guy so it seems like Washington is the guy to beat out.  Washington averaged over 6 ypc last night too.

    Anyone else having hacker problems?

Yeah both my tv feed and the online stream are down.  Earlier in the broadcast they did mention some technical problems with Ernie and Immelman being cut off so maybe it's related.
