This is the glass half full side, and I appreciate it. This is the way for the Texas fan that wants to be optimistic. We are clearly primed for a big campaign next year.
He’s an interesting guy. I think he has impressed people with his intelligence his whole life. There’s a reason he was treated as a coaching phenom at a young age. I’ve talked to him twice and both times I thought he was just a cool dude. He handles the donors really well from what I can tell. He just has some serious personal demons, not uncommon for really smart people. I don’t dislike him at all, he’s just not who I want steering this behemoth of a program. Hopefully he got some stuff out of his system, I wouldn’t bet on it though.
He had the team looking really locked in to finish. I think he's a good coach. I just dont trust him anymore. Im not asking for him to be perfect. I think its pretty reasonable to ask that the head coach is laser focused on doing everything he can to prepare for the season. Sark just didnt do that this year and it cost us. I think thats totally unaccepable. I would feel that way if we won the national championship in 2024. I felt that way about late stage Mack. Maybe my expectations are too high but it doesnt feel like it. It looks to me like he has things back on track. Im excited about Muschamp and I think thats a great move from Sark. Arch is rolling. We are gonna have an exciting portal window. I think we are gonna have a big campaign next year. I just think we shouldve had one this year too.
For me it comes down to NIL payroll. We should not be sitting at home right now based on the level of investment. Sark was given all the money he needed. His OL way underperformed. His RBs and WRs underperformed. Statistically, his offense was not nearly good enough, and thats supposed to be his specialty. He shit the bed this season and I dont think theres a good excuse for it.
A lot of yall seem to be much easier to please than me. This season was a massive disappointment and a gross waste of money and resources in my book. We simply werent ready to go when the season started and by the time Sark got things under control it was too late. Years of work went into getting us into a position to compete for championships and in this era that extends well outside the locker room. I like a lot of the things Sark has done, but this season turned me against him. He fucked around and it caused us to miss a playoff we absolutely should be in. For everything he is being given, this season wasn't nearly good enough.
Am I the only one who thinks Wingo is going to be much improved next season? I thought it was pretty clear that he and Arch were building chemistry in the back half of the season. I'd be upset to lose him.
I just got back from a hunting trip with a big check writer. I asked him who we are getting at rb and he said everything changes so quickly he stopped even trying to keep up with stuff like that. One minute this guy is coming and the next he’s not etc. He can call sark any time he wants but he said it’s not even worth it and just feels like he’s wasting sark or whoever’s time by even asking.
Well he didnt have his personal shit together and as a result we "almost" made the playoff this year. Based on his body of work I'm good with one of those, but if he has two years in a row of off the field bs that appears to negatively affect the team then I'm pretty sure he wont get a third strike. Could be wrong. Also, he would have to try pretty hard to create a mess that matches this last one. I actually feel bad for him in some ways, and I bet there's a good chance it was a needed wake up call for him. It looks to me like he's getting us back on track.
How do you think we pay for that roster advantage? I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be fired in that scenario, I'm saying I don't think the money would continue to back him, which means he would be gone. Are you under the impression that someone besides them would be making the call?
You're talking about millions of donor dollars being completely wasted on the Arch era if we miss the playoffs again. The conversation will be do we want to commit millions more to this guy or do we want to start this next cycle with a new name of our choosing? I don't see whats silly about that considering we are sitting at home this year watching a bunch of teams we would most likely beat. I'd bet we are top 3 preseason again next year. Sark would likely be toast in that scenario and I don't see what is silly about that.
Yes. This is the NIL era, and if Sark misses the playoffs two years in a row because of his own incompetence then I think the $$$ will replace him. I dont think its going to happen though. Sark messed up bad this season and still almost made the playoff. I also think it would be nearly impossible to replicate the shit show surrounding Sark's personal life, but who knows. The guy is a self destructive fuck up and has been for a long time. I think we will field a better roster all around in 26, have a strong campaign, and move forward with Sark for the Dia Bell cycle.
Im not worried about the portal. I think we will have a roster built to win the SEC. I worry more about Sark doing what makes sense as a coach vs wanting to execute his dream offense.
