  4. More hospital news. It seems like Israel is definitely trying to put evidence out there showing why they're going to be sieging these hospitals Plus old article about ISIS setting up inside a mosul hospital is being shared around now. https://theferret.scot/inside-mosul/

  8. Gerry said Brooks was on crutches after the game last night, not in a boot, so definitely knee not ankle, but we probably all knew that.
  9. yeah I hate those channels that put out the fake fan trailers. Google has finally added the ability to tell it to stop recommending specific youtube channels in android.
  10. So humans are the jews, Dafyd (David in Welsh), is Daniel, and the Carryx are the Babylonians?
  11. More background of the kazak language thing A handful of folks have asked why this is notable. After all, a Kazakh president speaking Kazakh shouldn't be surprising. And that's precisely the point: while it shouldn't be a surprise, the Russian delegation fully expected him to speak Russian. Normally that's what's happens: leaders of former Soviet states speak Russian with their Russian counterparts. Both as a matter of deference, practicality but also as a remnant of the Soviet past and the behavior expected by a colonial master of a presumed satellite state. It is in this context -- and especially in light of the constant drumbeat of Russian politicians making territorial claims on Kazakhstan -- Tokayev choosing to open in Kazakh is a power move and sends a clear signal to the Kremlin.
  12. I think it was less that he's the tree and more that Loki replaced the analogy of the timelines needing to be woven into a single thread to be weaved to the timelines being a tree that branches out and and grows.
  13. Apparently the new massacre denialism is to use unrelated videos to claim it was the IDF that shot the civilians at the peace festival

  17. One thing I have been puzzled by are cries for a ceasefire but never any explanation on how that would work. Shadi Hamid has an outline of his idea for one in the Washington Post today. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/11/08/gaza-cease-fire-israel-negotiation-hamas/ So many parts of this just seem fanciful (especially since Hamas has said they won't stop attacking civilians), but at least it's a plan. Lebanese writer Hussain Abdul Hussain is likewise dubious of how realistic this plan is
