Agreed. NBA schedule is awful. Either reduce the number of games or extend the season out.  The back end with the playoffs usually leads into boring summer months with just baseball

The dumbest thing I've ever seen was Minny and OKC playing a back to back a few weeks ago.  First game was in Minny with an 8:30 tip.  Both teams then flew to OKC and landed at 2 a.m. or something for a 7 pm tip the next night.  Why?

Ant was awesome last night. Seemed like every long rebound on a Wolves miss would go right to a Wolves player and he’d then hit a three.

Nuggets with three games in four nights (back to back with OKC to start) and it showed.

This grinds my gears, actually.  There are a lot of 3 games in 4 nights going on around the entire league.  7 games in 11 days or something.  Can they keep the 82 game schedule but just spread it out?  Maybe start a week earlier in October and go into mid to late April on the back end?  No one likes seeing teams rest their players but I completely understand why they do it.

Then you get to the playoffs and they're playing games like every 3 to 4 days and THAT drags out for two months.

Man is OKC long. SGA is amazing. No weak link on D to attack. Hoping someone takes them out in the playoffs before the finals.

OKC seems to be a bad matchup for Boston.

Jalen Williams and Caruso didn't even play, either.

This is only the second time I've watched Boston play this season and they seem limited and boring AF.  They just throw the ball around until someone jacks a three.  OKC is a terrible matchup them, to your point.  Everyone on that team is long and can defend.  They can put Dort on Jaylen Brown and let everyone else switch.  Dort has completely shut down Brown in two games so far.

  4. OKC/Boston highly entertaining.  Boston shot 36 three's in the first half.  Jeez.  I think they said the record is 75 or something?

OKC 18-25 on two point shots.

Okie City not playing with the good Jalen Williams, though.  Caruso also out.

  5. Also, I guess I didn't realize it but Kyrie is also out next season, basically.  Makes sense considering the injury.  I just didn't think about it.

As much fun as it was to laugh at their misfortune if you're not a Mavs fan, this kind of sucks at this point.  There was starting to be a good rivalry between the 4 teams in OK and Texas, especially Dallas and OKC.  Even after the trade, the roster that worried me the most from OKC's perspective was Dallas (if healthy).  It was still a bad trade for the long term but for this season, you had Kryie, AD, Klay, big who are legit big, and PJ Washington plays like First Team All NBA against OKC.

Now, not only is that not happening but the team is gutted for the foreseeable future.  Kinda sucks.

I go to a lot of Thunder games and Holmgren is the one player that consistently drives me crazy. He looked sick last night. (as in 'ill')

I'd agree with both of those.  Should be noted that this was his first back to back since the injury.

It's like he really hasn't gotten into a rhythm since he's come back, which is understandable.  He was having a pretty decent offensively before that.  What is frustrating to me is he's good enough to score on most anyone but doesn't seem to realize it.  He can shoot over smaller players and blow by bigger ones.  Just seems like of passive.

Damn - you missed a fun one. Y'all looked great and OKC looked slightly vulnerable but DEN hit a bunch of 3s late that won't always go in and J Will left at half which maybe made the 2nd half adjustments messy (for OKC).

Still - overall - not feeling like OKC can't be beat in the playoffs.

I'll probably be watching that MIN tilt Wednesday.

*Also Chet wasn't good. If he can find some form and be a real 2nd option at times in the playoffs it could push OKC over the edge.

Was at the game and yeah, Chet wasn't very good.  Jalen Williams also went out hurt.  Denver just played really well and shot lights out, especially in the second half.  I don't know the splits by half but Denver shot 60% for the game and 56% from three.  Even Westbrook shot it well.  No one is going to beat anyone when they shoot like that.  Can Denver do that 4 times over 7 games?  Prolly not.

A cool moment, though, right before tip.  Westbrook started and ran down towards the baseline for the tip.  He went over and hugged Clay Bennett (principal owner) and his wife.

One way or another, he'll retire if nothing else but a ceremonial last contract.

  8. SGA also leads the league in drives so yeah, he's going to get fouled more.

I don't get the hate for any of these guys.  People bitch and moan about teams taking too many three's and here comes SGA with a three level, nuanced game similar to Kobe and people bitch.  BS was going through how he's having one of the best statistical seasons ever for a guard and they have a 12 game lead on Jokic's team.

OKC addressed their weaknesses from last year. They were undersized and added Hartenstein. Giddey needs the ball to be of any value, but his defense was terrible. Couldn’t play in the playoffs. Also, he took the ball away from SGA. As mentioned above, maybe one more shooter would be nice, but Wiggins (who might be on the best contract in basketball outside of Peyton Pritchard) had really picked up his scoring. His have been great since the all star break. They are also in the top 10 in minutes missed by injury, so Mark has had to experiment with personnel and lineups. That will serve them well in the playoffs.

I was surprised how good Hartenstein was.  Legit great at everything except shooting, which is fine.  Perfect complement to Chet.

The Giddey/Caruso trade seems to have worked for everyone.  Giddey is doing OK in Chicago where he's more on ball.  Caruso is a great defender and serviceable shooter.  Gets injured a lot, though.  Both him and Hartenstein have been great chemistry fits, too,

On the SGA being a "free throw merchant," can you tell me any great players that don't do that?  It's been a part of the game for as long as I can remember.  He just seems better at it because of his herky jerky style.

I'll be very surprised if OKC is pushed to six games in any playoff series before the Finals.

None of the other teams in the West have a prayer of winning a 7 game series.

Same.  I know that most coaches tighten up the rotation in the playoffs but they go a legit 10 team with 7 of them basically mostly interchangeable wings.  Even with the three big men, two of them can shoot.  Everyone good to great at defense, too.  These other teams like Denver and LA just don't have any depth and OKC just comes at you the whole game.  Even today, Jalen Williams and Shai only played 38 minutes each.  Meanwhile, Jokic and Murray played 42 and Porter was even at 38.  Hell, the sat the top 6 players against Portland and still won by 20 or some such.

Their weakness is still overall shooting.  They can collectively hit long cold stretches.

He is. He's played 76 minutes this season and has a negative 10 box plus minus. And a lot of the minutes he's played are zero leverage, garbage time minutes against other subs.

He isn't an NBA player and almost assuredly never will be. I was saying this like two years ago.

Yeah, I know all that.  Just that calling someone a Make A Wish kid is funny but harsh.  I'll allow it.

A long time ago, I read a comment online somewhere that stated she had a huge ass. As a fan of huge asses, I went hunting for a picture and it seems that there are none available online. I feel like Ahab, always searching for that white whale, no pun intended.

EDIT: I went fishing and found some proof. I guess it's true.

Good thing she covers basketball then, am I right?

Riley was a good hire. Bit them in the ass j. in the end though. He’s made a bunch of good other hires and retained Gasso. Krueger took basketball to a final 4. Skip Johnson got baseball to the finals. Men’s golf is a juggernaut. Gymnastics is the best in the country. Women’s basketball was a good hire.

he’s had notable misses though. Especially lately. Venables and Moser aren’t the guys. Those are the revenue makers.

I don't think Moser was a bad hire.  I just think that's a dead end program now.  Almost no fan support, what NIL money they have goes to football and softball, not a great arena, no in state talent, etc.  They had a good program for a long time but that was in the pre NIL days.

What demand there is for basketball in that market goes to Thunder games for a whole list of reasons.  It killed all fan interest for both OU and OSU.

It's a little bit of being young and idiotic mixed with hanging out with what are basically professional hoes that are like 10 years older than him that know exactly how to play him. Not absolving him of being irresponsible but theres a lot of women that use the babies as meal tickets.

When it happens once it's understandable and it's a mistake to learn from, but he's had it happen multiple times now.....it's on him at this point, he's been around long enough to know better than to fall in that trap.

The rockets have exactly 2 guys that you could consider undersized. They employ as much defensive length on the wings as just about anyone.

The rest of it is within a standard deviation of reality.

Jalen Green is borderline undersized and FVV and Reed Shepard are wildly undersized to the point you can't play them at the same time.  God forbid you play them at the same time with Green at the 3.

For Green to be a 6'4" (if that SG, he needs to be offensively elite.  He is not elite.  He's a PG body playing SG.

I guess Smith is tall enough but he's 6'10" and getting 6 rebounds per game so I'm not sure what the height does.
