  1. They lost basically the entire offensive staff and they are not good on defense. It should definitely be a discussion.
  2. This could work except that OSU has the weakest SOS behind Tech.
  3. The more I sift through the other bubble teams, the more I think we have a decent shot. --- We passed Michigan and Utah in SOR, and I think those are gimmes. It's impossible to keep Vandy above us. --- We have 3 good wins, 2 good losses, 1 bad loss. Miami has 1 good win, 2 bad losses. Notre Dame has no good wins (maybe USC?, but that a far worse win than above), 2 good losses. --- BYU and Bama seem out if they lose. Tech's SOR hits the floor if they lose, I really think this might be elimination for them as well. --- When you start comparing resumes higher up, it's really hard to keep OU above us. We hold SEC standing and h2h. ------- I think 13 is our absolute floor for this week, which might end up first out if things go chalk, but, man, there's strong arguments we end up 8 if things do go chalk.
  4. The tOSU game is also a plus data point. And Bama has a non-data point in EIU, so we will have the same overall number of data points.
  5. I haven't watched much of them this year, but they were a terrible zone team last year.
  6. Why does Virginia hate us? Did I miss something?
  7. Post-season was never the real issue.
  8. Is that 3 arrests this season?
  9. It's the S portion of S&P+. I believe it is adjusted, but Fremeau efficiency index is better to use as a standalone efficiency.
  10. Pods and mega conferences make ignoring the CCG really problematic, in fact. I really don't think you can do the beauty contest and cherry-pick data points. It goes weird places.
  11. That's not always the case, though, which is why using ranking at the time of the game is dumb. LSU did not beat a top 5 Clemson.
  12. Vanderbilt is #14, but point taken.
  13. The funny thing about BYU campaigning is that they control their own fate. This weekend is their first round.
  14. This. I'm not sure if we should be in or not, but what would really get me riled is unequal treatment. Which means Bama is out if they lose and so is the loser of Tech/BYU.
  15. This is a valid way to calculate it, but as far as using it for selection criteria, they should be using a generic 10th-ranked team because that's generally the cutoff. I use two measures of SOR and this is one of them.
  16. I had the Slay allotment of tickets that game. Got them from a friend who I believe played baseball with Slay Sr.
  17. It puts them in the realm of Utah, Michigan, and USC. Decent teams but no shot to make the CFB. The argument from the committee would have to be extra data point, but isn't that exactly the consideration Texas fans are asking for?
  18. With a loss it would be 17 +/-, depending on the other games. They probably would be left out given the field, but who knows what the committee would actually do.
  19. Our postgame win expectancy against tOSU is higher than Georgia's postgame win expectancy against us. And posters here are convinced UGA thrashed us, so we must have utterly dominated tOSU.
  20. UGA basically lost to Auburn as well. The SEC had to fire the ref crew.
  21. We don't have the worst loss at all. Teams above us have lost to Louisville, Arizona State, and Florida State.
  22. Vertical is power rating. Horizontal just spreads out of conferences evenly with some jitter to avoid overlap. It's just a useful way to compare the parity and strength of conferences.
  23. My CFB Predictor - "Most deserving", if you will. Strength of Record - Power Ranking - Reliability of Power Ranking (ranked) That third column is a math thing, not a team thing. It's a measure of how possible it even is to power rank / eyetest your team based on the quality of matchups played over the season. It's kind of what I'm wanting to show given this new era of football, conference size, and the concentration of talent. The top 6 Power teams are all 100+ in reliability, and I really think we are flying blind into the playoffs this year more than others. We are also in an era of football where the difficulty of winning the ACC is closer to the American than it is to the SEC.
  24. That's a solid guess. Committee will want to put Oregon 5 based on what we've seen, but that will mess up first round matchups.
