  1. the suns are going nowhere fast this year and the rockets have their pick. it could legitimately be a top 10 pick. maybe the rockets trade for KD on draft night and include that pick as part of the package? need to beat the warriors (another team going nowhere fast) tonight and close out the first "half" with a sense of momentum after that 6 game slide. only 28 games left to go in the regular season and the Rockets have a legit shot at 50 wins and a top 4 seed. we'd have all been ecstatic with that before the season. especially if we had known they'd do it without making any major moves and it was primarily due to this young core we've drafted and developed.
  2. is TJ Otzelberger tied to Iowa State in any meaningful way? if not, that feels like a guy who should be able to be pried away.
  3. If you were power rating the league right now, how would you rank the top 10? I think I'd go: 1. OKC 2. Boston 3. Cleveland 4. NY Knicks 5. LA Lakers 6. Denver 7. Minnesota 8. Houston 9. Memphis 10. Milwaukee
  4. holy shit a lebron's nearly halfcourt heat check 3. also, the warriors are really, really bad.
  5. fortunately they did a lot at the trade deadline to address that...
  6. Williams is a good get for the Lakers, but having to give up an uprotected pick + a swap in back to back years is a pretty signifcnat price to pay.
  7. Does Carlito's Way count? I'm a big fan of that one too.
  8. I watched Once Upon a Time in America for the first time about a year or two ago and loved it. I did have to break it up and watch over the course of two or three sittings, but I really enjoyed it. I also thought The Irishman got unfairly shat upon when it was originally released and I think that looking back, people have started to appreciate it more. The Godfather (part 1 and part 2) and Goodfellas have to be on here. I liked Casino a lot too, but felt like the third act was too reliant upon Sharon Stone's character who was a complete drag. I'm also a big fan of The Departed, though I understand some of the criticism as well. I watched it for the first time in 4-5 years a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it. Miller's Crossing and Road to Perdition are both fantastic.
  9. yeah i don't have a lot of faith that tonight is going to be super competitive. hope i'm wrong.
  10. i don't know why people care about rankings in basketball. the committe more closely mirrors kenpom/net rankings than they do the ap poll. i care much more about those sets of rankings than i do the media or coaches polls.
  11. 8 of the 9 remaining games are against teams currently ranked in the top 50 of kenpom. 5 of those game are against teams currently in the top 39. just because it's not brutal like the first half of the conference schedule doesn't mean its easy.
  12. the remaining schedule is definitely not a cakewalk. that's ridiculous.
  13. i agree that the team has looked much better over the past several games. hopefully they are rounding in to form and can close the season strong. the 2nd half of the conference schedule is not as daunting as the first half, but it's still challening enough.
  14. definitely a silver lining to last night's clusterfuck. apparently the Rockets have the Mavs' 2029 first round pick as well.
  15. something that may only be interesting to me, but when i realized that 4 players from the 2021 draft have now made an all star team, i decided to look at that compared to other recent and semi-recent drafts and it looks like you can consistenlty count upon 4-6 players per draft becoming all stars: 2021 - 4 all stars 2020 - 4 all stars 2019 - 4 all stars 2018 - 5 all stars 2017 - 6 all stars 2016 - 6 all stars 2015 - 4 all stars 2014 - 5 all stars
