  1. That contract was stupid when they signed him, but it's even stupider now that he couldn't make it through more than 1 season. They gave him a contract that would normally be given to a coach coming off a Finals win. CP3 has made him look competent a few times now, but he's absolutely worthless as a head coach when he doesn't have him to cover for him. 28 losses in a row is improbable for any team, even the Pistons.
  2. Kinda, this guy doesn't really seek out political people though. His other stuff is very silly scenarios he creates to troll random people and companies. This just fell in his lap thanks to some random guy on Reddit that offered to allow him to pretend to be customer service at a fake Parler knockoff website. Getting a guy to admit to lying to Congress on video is pretty phenomenal though, I hope he sends a copy to Merrick Garland.
  3. CJ Stroud and company report to training camp in 1 month! 😁
  4. This is a month old, so SIAP, but it just came up in my recommendations. This guy does standup where he messes with the type of people who ask to speak to a manager, but this time he got to mess with a former congressman and go to a right wing conference with a lot of famous politicians. Funny stuff, but also kind of scary how they don't pick up on some of the insane things he says to them.
  5. I would think Brown will win it. I can see an argument for him, Tatum and Holliday, but I think Brown is the winner.
  6. No way, I'm told he's an idiot and needs to be fired yesterday!!!
  7. You're talking about team defense rating, which is a product of Luka+4 guys on the court at the time of his minutes. That's not a great way of determining an individual rating as the other players are an important factor in how that is rated. The metric rewards steals, blocks and defensive rebounds, and penalizes you for being the closest defender when an opponent makes a shot. So if you can't stay in front of your man, and he drives into the paint for an easy shot, it's likely that a help defender will get hit with allowing the field goal because he's there trying to help on defense. I think we have seen some of that with Luka, which would hurt him on the eye test but not with statistics. There's also a factor of who is taking those minutes in place of Luka. Given Dallas' depth, it's quite possible they are putting a worse defender in his place. If that's the case, then they should expect to see a disparity when he's off the floor.
  8. No, I'm saying Russ was not playing defense like he should that year, because he was hunting for rebounds. He had a decent defense rating, but a lot of it was because he continually left his man trying to get rebounds and didn't get hit with allowing points. He actually played pretty good defense when he tried, but that season he had another goal in mind rather than simply winning games. Russ rarely set picks for teammates or tried to make many team plays, unlike Luka who is the complete opposite in that regard. During that MVP season for Russ, there were tons of fans making excuses for his defense, even saying he spent so much energy on offense running the court that he couldn't possibly play well on defense. It sounds similar to the excuses we're hearing about Luka right now. I was saying that in contrast Luka doesn't hunt for rebounds or stats, but he does seem to lag on defense and is slow to react a lot of times, which may be due to lack of energy or laziness. I don't think I have ever seen Luka do anything like the ridiculous stuff Russ was doing that season to pad stats, but he definitely should work on defense if he wants to win a ring some day. It's pretty clear he's not playing average defense in this series, and is covering up that deficiency in the +/- ratings with his offensive production.
  9. The Luka defense arguments remind me of the Russell Westbrook defense arguments during his MVP season. He had a good defense rating number, but the problem was that he never got credited for blow bys, or not closing out correctly because you have to be close to a shooter for it to count against you. When you allow a guy past you on the perimeter, he will inevitably drive to the paint and encounter another defender instead. There were other issues of not rotating on defense, and telling other guys to take his man. Russ was doing that often to hunt rebounds, while Luka seems to do it to save energy or maybe due to laziness. I really don't know how anyone watches Luka and thinks he's a good defender. He's not Harden-level apathetic about defense, but he really doesn't anticipate the offensive player's plan very well, and is often caught out of position or slow to react to their moves. I think he needs a Gobert type helper on defense to patrol the paint and help him and Kyrie on defense when they let someone drive past. Lively may turn into that guy, but from what I have seen, he often gets baited out of position to protect the rim.
  10. So getting back to the school board stuff, our Christian Nationalist CFISD board leader has been pushing for cuts to school counselors. The cuts are necessary because all Public School budgets have been frozen at 2019 spending levels because Abbott has said he won't allow any increases until School Vouchers are approved. This has been seen as an opportunity for these nutjobs to add School Chaplains in their place, who will of course, push their Christianity on kids as part of their "counseling." It's a backdoor way of injecting religion into schools without having to get it explicitly approved like you would with textbooks or programs. The lady spearheading this in CFISD sent this email to her supporters back when she started running for office here. Her intent is very clear. She lost a few times before winning a couple years ago, and is up for reelection in 2025. There will be a huge push to get her replaced next year, but it will be an uphill battle given the make-up of our district. Even if you don't have kids in school, please please please look at your local board elections and go vote. It's so important when the voter turnout for these things is often in the 10-20% range. Our last election has 4 seats up and they were all decided by 3000 or less votes out of about ~50k. It was 3-1 crazy people elected 😔
  11. Imagine doing that to the House right after the Dobbs decision came down...
  12. Ah the good ol days... I do hope that Kyrie never wins another ring, because I don't want to share the "Flat World Champions" title with any other team.
  13. 😧
  14. Ah must not be available in Houston, because I only see the Indiana Jones movies available this summer in Katy. I'll have to keep an eye out for them, I would love to see the original trilogy in a theater with my son for his first viewing.
  15. I don't think I have ever seen the good Star Wars movies on the list before, do they cycle them in every year? My 5 year old has been wanting to see the movies, and I would love to take him to see A New Hope in a theater rather than watching it at home.
  16. This dog is awesome
  17. Yeah, I'm going to stick with this should have been a foul on Brown for initiating the contact or a no-call. In real time there was no way to adjust for it, Brown goes right into Luka's chest with his arm, bangs into Luka's leg, and then falls on the floor. Of course Luka isn't set, he's at the 3pt line trying to play defense against a guy dribbling towards him, and wants to stay in front of him.
  18. Hating them? No, just poking fun at it. It was one of the dumbest trades of all time, and it will now result in Tatum/Brown getting a ring, and Brown likely being Finals MVP.
  19. Pretty lame ending after that huge comeback by Dallas. The call on Luka fouling out was really dumb. I know he wasn't planted for a block (who would be out at the 3pt line?), but Brown ran right into his leg and I don't see how any defender is supposed to avoid that contact. Congrats to the Celtics on finally winning a ring with all those Brooklyn picks.
  20. YIkes, that was a dumb call too. Not necessary to be calling a little lean into a screen like that.
  21. Now that's a foul worth reviewing. The other one before was obviously on Luka.
  22. Wow, this is a hell of a collapse if Dallas can pull off the win. What was the lead, 23 at some point in the 4th?
  23. The Mavs should definitely let Pritchard take a lot more shots lol...
  24. I believe the Giants had at least 1 baserunner every inning. Tough to win when you allow that to happen. Lost the series 1-2, they continue marching onward toward firesale mode.
