  1. if it is in fact at 3%, that's perfectly fine. here are various sectors, all converging around 3%. energy having the most variability -- natural gas and electricity not great right now, gasoline doing well. this 'feels' right to me, which is as accurate as anyone can get in the vibe economy.
  2. It's all BLS data in that chart. The problem is we aren't sure whether we can trust BLS data any more. https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/ The chart is from here: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/ (the meaning of the scary asterisk is included this time, too). The problem is this that we have to have discussions now about whether BLS data is rigged because Trump tweets that they are rigged. He said the job numbers issued “were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad.” https://www.piie.com/blogs/realtime-economics/2025/bls-investigation-challenges-yes-rigged-data-no As a result, he fired Erika McEntarfer at the BLS and tried to install friendly people in the BLS to put up administration-friendly numbers. Soviet stuff. So now we have stuff like this. And because the charts look decent for the administration, you have people like Incredulity posting them, despite the administration saying they were fake back in October when jobs revision numbers didn't look as good for Trump. In other words, it's hard to get clear data on it right now, the kind of clear data we've had for every month since time immemorial because our government doesn't want us to know. It may well be great inflation numbers right now. Who knows.
  3. Actual AI Prompt Typed in by the U.S. DOJ: I need the scales of justice image. also, make justice as fucking hot as shit with the robes clinging on her titties with the last of its dying strength.
  4. she can print out this map if it helps.
  5. especially that one
  6. Any good post WWI equivalents to this war where everything is fought in one location for so many years? Presumably there isn't going to be some Zone Rouge when its over because there isn't sustained artillery and gas. But the area still has to be largely shit indefinitely, correct? Or is the fact that targeting is so much better that there isn't mass shelling, so the place will be back to normal just a couple years afterward?
  7. THROW HIM IN JAIL: this is very clearly insider trading to the tune of 9 digits. incredible. NEVER MIND: but he just scammed crypto bros so who cares.
  8. counterpoint: life after 66 sucks anyway, so they are winning. thanks for this. totally fascinating.
  9. What's embarrassing to me almost as much as the acceptance of the compact is the immediate acceptance of the compact. MIT says its bit, and obviously I like their response, but even if it went the other way I'd at least be able to assume they sat and thought about it and weighed pros and cons. It never occurred to us to even think. We just act and make it clear the politicization is the goal.
  10. Wonder the same. What is the legality of a state authority arresting a federal actor there? Feels like following a knowingly illegal order is the same as acting without any legitimate authority, i.e., subject to ordinary criminal laws. so the feds can be arrested for (on the serious end of the spectrum) some kidnapping-like charges if they actually do ICE-like tasks down to things like trespass.
  11. this is 'so much for the tolerant left' level of inanity.

  14. i think you're missing something. isn't he saying "don't be bribed into your university becoming political?" he's not saying "be D, not R." he's saying "be an education facility independent of political influence"
  15. I know a Zeynep Palabiyik. I wonder if they're related.
  16. those are pretty embarrassing comments from bill burr. no one is saying they don't have starbucks, dude. the issues are a little heavier. i'm in favor of a bit of a cultural exchange and want to encourage Saudis in taking steps to westernize, so i don't really oppose our comedians doing this stuff. but he doesn't need to come back here and tell us they are totally on the up and up. the whitewashing is exactly what everyone's concern was.
  17. its just a requirement that every chapter of your biology book ends with the phrase ". . . unless the bible says otherwise."
