My 17 year old self was lit getting broken up with on the phone by a girl I had been seeing while they were performing. I didn’t really hear most of it because I could not look away from them on the tv.

Really interesting first episode centered around Geldof - planning BandAid, chewing the fat with Mother Teresa and dressing down both Margaret Thatcher and Ethiopian leadership. Guessing episode 1 is being rerun on CNN this week and / or is streaming on its site.  Well worth the 45-ish minutes.

I liked the anecdote Bob Geldof tells of walking down King's Road in Chelsea and running into Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet.  He gets Kemp on board the idea of teaming with himself and Midge Ure (Ultravox) to write and record a Christmas song and donating the royalties to famine relief in Africa.  He goes another 50 yards or so and runs into Sting, and he ropes him in as well.  (Sting said you really couldn't say "no" to Geldof, he was too persistent.)  So in the space of half an American football field it's not only Geldof and Ure but Kemp and Sting, and they start muscling their other famous friends to do this thing.  London.

Geldof (par.): "I was at home at 6 one weekend night, which is never good if you're in the rock and roll business. I saw a piece on the news about the famine. My wife tried to watch but she could not watch much of it. She did put a bowl on the table and said that everyone who came into the house going forward would have to put some change in the bowl for the cause. I thought to myself that we could do something bigger."

The bit about Boy George not showing up and they find out he's in New York was hilarious.  "Uh, there's a Concorde in two hours, get on it".  He did, and then he sang his ass off.
