No, he has done shit in the playoffs. Same as Sark. Both lost to Ohio State. Freeman got one game further. He's a great coach but he also has issues getting past a better team. Both are out of the playoff this year because they couldn't beat the teams they should've.

  • Quite a bit of gold from Page 1. Here's Steve's rebuttal:

  • I won’t have to. He’ll be forced out in 3-5 years.

  • Y'all are fucking pussies, and crying and blaming the coach because you're fucking idiot fuckfaces that have cognitive capacities similar to a fucking amoeba.  The fact is that Sark took a team w

He beat Ohio State, which Sark can't seem to do.

Sark had a bad year.

Trying to validate your disdain for him via the Michigan job is pathetic and stupid. Do you need it spelled out for you why no one mentioned Sark for that job?

Maybe, just maybe, in this new era where money is king, Texas should never be sitting on the sidelines.

And yes, I do admit that I am not one of his biggest fans these days. His recent press conference utterances told me everything I need to know about him. And now he's whining about NIL. Poor baby! It's so unfair that you have to do your job as well as ten other coaches seem to be able to do!

I don't think University of Texas athletics should ever tolerate mediocrity, but especially in the modern era where we have all the advantages.

Just asking the question. Sark got paid a lot of money, Texas is the largest money-generating program, and has one of, if not the largest player payrolls in college football, but we couldn't make a 12-team playoff. Could it be possible that Sark isn't the best coach that Texas could get?

Texas eliminates a lot of really good candidates because of dumb shit they look for such as previous HC experience, p4 experience, and so on and so forth. Most importantly Texas tends to get lost in "hottest names" with not much resume outside of 1-2 years or "wonder boy genius" types.

If it's a joke, it sure isn't much of one.

The list of the hottest coaches today and coaches actually approached for jobs like Michigan and Penn State somehow didn't include genius and master strategist/motivator Steve Sarkesian.

Louisville’s Jeff Brohm
Oregon's Dan Lanning
Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham (locked up with new contract)
Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz
Washington’s Jedd Fisch
Alabama's Kalen Deboer
Indiana's Curt Cignetti (locked up with new contract)
Hell, even His Royal Whaleness, the Duke of Elko, appeared on wish lists for Michigan.

Apparently, not everyone in college football shares the opinion that Sarkesian is an ace-in-the-hole, cracker jack coach.

Don’t want to Stan for sark but could it be he made it known he wasn’t going anywhere in college because he has a better job than all those openings. Or could it be these schools know the university of Texas coach is not leaving for their job. They didn’t offer coach mcvay either so that dude must suck. And we don’t know who was offered anything unless you believe every source that throws shit to the wall.

Or it's known that Sark and Freeman are only leaving their jobs for the NFL and not other colleges since both are at top 5 destinations. None of those coaches listed are NFL types or have any previous experience in the NFL. A lot on that list are there because they were thought to be gettable and Michigan wasn't going to do what Penn State did and get turned down repeatedly.

All of what you said hold true for a lot of the coaches mentioned. The bigger point, as I understood it, was Sark never gets mentioned as a potential target. Day, DeBoer, Lanning, Freeman and the others on the list get thrown around often as potentials by the media. It's the media's perception that we're talking about and Sark never comes up in the great coach for a b or c University.

This is 100 % exactly my point. His name never comes up.

Perhaps he would be more successful as a coordinator in the NFL, where he would't be responsible for getting his team focused, since he seems to kinda suck at that.

I understand the point , but the media also says that Alabama and Georgia didnt ever cheat to win. I’m suppose to believe those guys about who gets offered what.

You would think Sark is a hot name for the NFL

No, you clearly don't understand the point.

It's not about believable or factual aspects it's perceptions and talking points by the media. Steve never comes up in the discussion, that's a fact. Why his name never comes up when all those other names do is a reasonable question. The most logical conclusion is the media perspective/perception is he isn't a high demand candidate for those big name coaching vacancies.

The way it looks for this year is he put out feelers and had no interest. Opposite for Freeman

A lot of threads on surly get designated as terrible threads. But this thread has got to be on that medal stand.

100%.

It's hard to play devil's advocate when DeBoer at Bama, Lanning, and Freeman do actually get mentioned for other jobs, especially two already being at blue bloods.

I dunno, maybe the Texas job is different, but it's hard to ignore.
