Apparently, Adobe of all "people" proposed a federal statutory right of publicity.  Not a lot of details.  https://patentlyo.com/patent/2023/07/national-publicity-impersonation.html

This might be considered a necessary step to NIL legislation for student athletes, that is to make uniform the scheme underlying the whole thing.

Adobe is in a weird situation - on the one hand, they want to create the tools for a lot of the AI-generated stuff.  On the other hand, if people can easily create AI-generated stuff, it'll eventually cut down on the amount of people/companies buying Adobe's offerings/tools.

Also, does this impact people masquerading as say quarterbacks from a famous university in the capitol of Texas while on various social media and dating platforms?

Adobe is also a media content owner or at least they license media from others. They would love to make a licensing deal with celebrities, athletes or even just everyday models.  Then Adobe can allow their software to utilize that likeness with AI creation.  All for a small or large fee.

you want to generate a picture of Taylor Swift on a social media ad for your business? Just pay Adobe a million bucks to generate the image via their AI. It could also allows Adobe to approve the content based on Swift’s guidelines.

smart move of Adobe to push legislation that will protect their interests.
